Ax Throwing Area

My brothers and I had high hopes for this escape room during a recent trip to San Antonio, but our experience fell extremely short. We elected to do the "Countdown" themed room as my oldest brother works in the field of nuclear arms and we were appreciative that we were able to book a room on a Friday at such short notice. For $99 we were able to have our own room for the three of us. The staff that checked us in was friendly, but that's about where the positive marks ended. The room's set-up appeared cool, but it quickly became evident that several of the clues were not working properly. We were also not given the backstory of the theme and there was no video shown to introduce the story. It was also evident that no one was monitoring our game and were not available to assist with questions. After we did not escape, the staff member that came to get us was new and not able to walk us through what we were missing. This was disappointing and I felt cheated from the experience. My brother paid extra for ax-throwing as an added experience for us, but it was NOT worth it. It's a bit of a scam because for $20 they merely show you how to throw in an attempt for you to come back and pay for an actual experience. I did like that for $10ish they will take your group's picture in front of a backdrop with signage and print it on the spot. Unfortunately they don't put it in a cover / folder or even a bag so you're stuck carrying it with the hopes it doesn't get damaged. Parking was tough and we ended up on a dark street behind the building (which wasn't in a safe area). I would not likely return to this location again in the future, especially since there are many other options for escape rooms in this area. Tip: I wish I had known in advance that there is a Groupon available for a cheaper price. Do NOT pay the full price as you will be disappointed.

What a terrifyingly great time. Caleb as Phineas the zombie and Mac the butler were amazing. My family and I had a blast with lots of laughs and screams!! I can't wait to visit San Antonio again and try the other rooms.

Yesterday was my handsome husband's birthday. He is big fan of being ready for anything AND zombies. So knowing that, a zombie escape room HAD to be the next logical step in giving him a great evening. We were placed in a room with no way out for an hour. Solve the riddles and make your escape. Now, solving riddles is fun, right? It gets kind of tough when there is a zombie shackled in your room able to touch you within mere inches! Add to that doing math and not running but moving quickly....it was an experience we will not soon forget. So happy that Cheyene Winchester Rogers Stark, Amanda Green, James Green and Steven Iredale were able to help get us out of the room before they unshackled the zombie!! And much appreciation to Nick and Alex for supplying us with thrills, chills and spills. Lol! It was scary. It was hilarious. And it was oh so fun!!! Happy Birthday, Matthew Stoddard. You will never know how happy I am zombies aren't real....yet. Highly recommend. Not for those that can't move well or quickly. Definitely not for younger kids. Intense and thrilling. Having an excellent host and zombie helped tremendously and added so much!!! Again, thanks Nick and Alex!!!

One of the puzzles was broken in the Anubis room. Waited for 30 mins and were told it was too bad our fault.

The game was started with them giving us general rules. And then the fun started! Once in the room, you watch a short video to give you insight into to what your mission is. Once you've started the game, they were in touch via 2-way radio the whole time. And they made clear that anyone could leave the room at any time, and rejoin at any time...which was cool, since we had some people worried about getting claustrophobic. Nobody had to use that option, btw. The clues were hard to find/decipher at times, but they try to lead you in the right direction over the 2 way radio. Plus, they give a certain allotment of clues that you can ask for. Once you get the jist of it, it gets easier......but nothing is simple. To think that Isaac, the owner, came up with the games on his own, is mind blowing! We came within TWO clues of solving the puzzle and escaping......SO CLOSE!!!!! But, we didn't make it :-( 5 more minutes, and would have. If you're looking for a great time with friends,or a team building experience, I would highly recommend! We'll be back for sure!

They were also extremely animated and got in character, love that! When we weren't in their lobby about 5 mins before we were scheduled to start, they gave me a call to check in. I let them know we were going to run about 10 minutes late (tourist problems-we got confused on the freeways!) and they offered to give me a full refund since we won't have the full time allotted and there is a party scheduled immediately after us. I'm not sure if that's their policy for late groups, but I thought it was nice. I asked if we can just continue with the reduced time and they agreed. Once we got there, everything was a breeze. We came in as a group of 4 adults and we did the Trapped Below (railroad mine theme) room. I was the only one who had previously done an escape room, so the other 3 didn't know what to expect. They also don't really do puzzle games in general but were looking forward to try out an escape room. They were, however, confident that not only would we be able to escape, but that we would beat whatever the ultimate best time for that room was. But they quickly learned it was not a walk in the park as they imagined, more like a jog on an incline with the wind blowing against you. It was challenging enough, especially with less time, and there were definitely puzzles that stumped us for a bit - we used all 3 hints! Unfortunately we ran out of time on our last puzzle, and to be honest I don't know if the answer would've clicked for us. The group verdict was split: 2 people think having the full 60 minutes would've definitely allowed us to escape, the other 2 do not. Either way, we left wishing we had the chance and time to try out the other rooms and explore the other themed adventures. There are different levels of difficulty (the one we did was rated 4/5) so it's a good time for adults. I think maybe for families as well, as we were leaving a family with what looked like 2 teenagers were checking in, so it's definitely an activity that can be enjoyed by a range of ages. Definitely come check them out, it'll be a fun time! Pro tip: Go with your gut! If you have an idea for the solution, just try it (even if your group can't see the vision) cause it might just work.

My sons 4'8'ish and part of him isn't viewable in the video, let alone able to capture me. The employee even moved the camera prior. Lastly, expect to sweat. Took my daughters a couple years ago, great experience but my daughter (12yrs) told me she was seeing spots (heat). Brought yeti backpack this time with ice packs and ice cold water. Our reservation was first of the day. Room looked liked it hadn't been cleared in days of all the glass items (purposefully, dunno). Bring your own gloves, they had torn gardening gloves. This year I decided to finally book an event for a birthday party. I booked the karaoke room for 20 people on a Sunday. My guests and I had a great time doing the karaoke and looking around the venue as they have so much to offer. When booking I would suggest asking if they are having any other events around the same time so you can know what the space will be like when you are there. I booked on a Sunday from 6-8 and it was empty except for my party and it was great. The event coordinator I spoke to on the phone was very helpful with questions that we had. David who was working the bar and helping me check in was awesome and so helpful. I will say from the outside this venue does look a little shady, many of my guest had trouble finding the right entrance but they all gave compliments when indoors, as this place has so much cool stuff once inside. I do wish I was told that the restaurant and food they offered was not going to be open during my party, as they were not open when my party was there. If you are looking for a place to karaoke with a large group Uncharted adventures does have great pricing compared to most karaoke rooms offered in San Antonio at about 1/3 of the price.

We finally, somehow, got out, and the cashier was surprised when we popped out where we stated. He said we were not supposed to come out that way, but both of us were relieved to be out. Then the wife went back in with the kid and also got lost but the kid was calmer. I think the maze is fun but you need to have a tolerance for feeling totally lost with no way out. The wife and kid then did an escape room and could not get out in the 10 minute time limit. But they enjoyed it. Finally, the kid did the laser challenge and liked that the best. They let her do different levels and she was happy to emerge an"expert." Overall, this was a fun attraction and worth the time and money. There are 6 escape rooms and you are given 10 minutes to escape each of them. There are two for each easy, medium, and hard levels. It wasn't very busy when we went so we were able to choose the order we wanted to enter the rooms. One or two of the rooms had broken panels or messed up timers so we had to keep time on our phones. I was still impressed with the puzzles and one room had us completely stumped. The discover zone had an entirely dark area to climb through that was fun to navigate. There was also a room with a light wall and magnetic wall to put together tube mazes for balls. I would definitely recommend the mirror maze and discover zone for families with all ages of kids.
