We had a very good time and the staff was great BUT the room was badly in need of maintenance. 2 of the puzzle mechanisms didnt work which is frustrating but not entirely unheard of. Sometimes you gotta jiggle the things. It happens. But Jiggling didnt work we had to call for help. 3 puzzles appeared to be decommissioned. Still in the room, tantalizing us that they might be part of what we were somehow screwing up (but not actually screwing up) with the puzzle mechanisms that failed to activate, but ultimately just sitting there, wasting our time acting as red herrings. I believe that we probably solved 2 of them but they dont do anything so that was frustrating in the moment and in retrospect pretty annoying. Collectively we probably spent 30 minutes on a puzzle that just wasnt functional. The light was so low that we legitimately needed flashlights. Luckily for us I had one on my keychain. It was hard to see in general but there was one puzzle in particular where you needed to notice that some of the print was in red, some in black, and without a flashlight I would not have seen that difference. I realize the theme is ancient tomb so darkness makes sense but nobodys exploring tombs without flashlights right? Heres an easy thing to fix, if anyone from the business is reading this. Youve probably figured out that Im talking about the Anubis room. MINOR SPOILER ALERT; The little illustrations, where the statues go, in the sarcophagus? Those are worn down to the point where, even with flashlights, we couldnt tell what was what. Touch those up. Thats a $1 fix Its pretty clear that when new this was an awesome experience with very high production value but its been neglected and we came away disappointed. read more

We went to the Terminal room, which is a set of train cars. First and most importantly, this is actually dangerous for your health. ZERO Air Conditioning, in Texas, in late June. As soon as we stepped into it, I said something about how hot it was. She said that was because the theme includes that they have "lost power". I don't care if the theme is the Sahara desert -- it was easily 100° in there. It was 95° outside and when we stepped outside afterward, it felt GOOD. That's how hot it was in that room. No mention of this at all before we started. Who would want to spend an HOUR of their time in 100° with no fans or air movement in Texas? We were all wearing jeans and boots and my daughter had on a sweater (again, thought we were doing something indoors). We were told a video would play, but no video played. Sat waiting for probably 5 mins waiting for the video, then radioed and asked, waited, then the timer just started... no video. Pretty much zero instructions. It was so dimly lit that we couldn't see a lot of the things we needed to see. One of of the clues was to "crouch down and look" and I crouched down and nearly passed out when I stood back up because it was so hot. When we finished, my boyfriend's tshirt was SOAKED, sweat was steadily dripping off the bill of his soaked hat, my long hair was SOAKED, bra was drenched, and our girls were miserable. We were then told that no one has ever beat that room. Ever?! Probably because the clues were terrible and too difficult. Regardless of the clues and the set up, there is zero way you can make any excuses at all for the heat in that room. I genuinely started to worry about our health in there. Name one place you would PAY to go in Texas, fully clothed, to be put in room with no ventilation that is 100+ degrees for over an hour. There was no disclaimer about that whatsoever. The heat wasn't because of the "theme". It was because somebody doesnt wanna pay for AC. That's all I can guess, because anyone from Texas should know better - that heat was dangerous and NOT fun. We almost tapped out and asked for them to let us out. What a terrible experience. Would never go here again. ZERO STARS. read more

My brothers and I had high hopes for this escape room during a recent trip to San Antonio, but our experience fell extremely short. We elected to do the "Countdown" themed room as my oldest brother works in the field of nuclear arms and we were appreciative that we were able to book a room on a Friday at such short notice. For $99 we were able to have our own room for the three of us. The staff that checked us in was friendly, but that's about where the positive marks ended. The room's set-up appeared cool, but it quickly became evident that several of the clues were not working properly. We were also not given the backstory of the theme and there was no video shown to introduce the story. It was also evident that no one was monitoring our game and were not available to assist with questions. After we did not escape, the staff member that came to get us was new and not able to walk us through what we were missing. This was disappointing and I felt cheated from the experience. My brother paid extra for ax-throwing as an added experience for us, but it was NOT worth it. It's a bit of a scam because for $20 they merely show you how to throw in an attempt for you to come back and pay for an actual experience. I did like that for $10ish they will take your group's picture in front of a backdrop with signage and print it on the spot. Unfortunately they don't put it in a cover / folder or even a bag so you're stuck carrying it with the hopes it doesn't get damaged. Parking was tough and we ended up on a dark street behind the building (which wasn't in a safe area). I would not likely return to this location again in the future, especially since there are many other options for escape rooms in this area. Tip: I wish I had known in advance that there is a Groupon available for a cheaper price. Do NOT pay the full price as you will be disappointed. read more

We did the zombie room and it was odd. I've done +80 rooms and the GM was with us the whole time. He would sort of pause the game to tell us how the next puzzle would work. He actually made some of the puzzles more difficult by over explaining them to us. From what I gathered the room is still new so maybe they are working out the kinks. Yesterday was my handsome husband's birthday. He is big fan of being ready for anything AND zombies. So knowing that, a zombie escape room HAD to be the next logical step in giving him a great evening. We were placed in a room with no way out for an hour. Solve the riddles and make your escape. Now, solving riddles is fun, right? It gets kind of tough when there is a zombie shackled in your room able to touch you within mere inches! Add to that doing math and not running but moving quickly....it was an experience we will not soon forget. So happy that Cheyene Winchester Rogers Stark, Amanda Green, James Green and Steven Iredale were able to help get us out of the room before they unshackled the zombie!! And much appreciation to Nick and Alex for supplying us with thrills, chills and spills. Lol! It was scary. It was hilarious. And it was oh so fun!!! Happy Birthday, Matthew Stoddard. Even though I said I wouldn't go back after my last review, we went back. It was still terrible. Lol. We did the 30 minute bomb squad adventure. It was the same price as their 60 minute adventures but it was essentially the same thing. Be warned, there is no game master watching you, and as I said in my previous review, that essentially ruins the escape room experience. They weren't even paying attention to us when we asked for a clue and a lot of time was wasted with us just waiting around. The most disappointing part was that at the end, when we didn't beat it, they told us that they were not allowed to tell us anything about the game. We think the reasoning might be that they hope we come back and try it again. But we won't go back. read more

Terrible. Did the Countdown Room. Was not told until in the room that the a/c was out. Industrial fan provided moving hot air, kind of like how a convection oven works. Late August, South Texas, closed in room, 97 degrees outside. Lighting in the room was dim - asked the gm if there were flashlights - told yes - nope. Phones not allowed (fine) - but then provide some lighting. about 15% of the items in the room were not working, including some of the parts under a prop, where you have to be on your hands and knees, in the dim to no light, with the hot air, and then the frustration knowing that you can't solve the puzzle, because the parts aren't working. 15% not working is probably not terrible in general, unless you are say - trying to solve a puzzle where you have to get one thing done in order to work on the next one. Zero concern exhibited by the person working there about lack of light or the shape of the game room. take your 40 dollars and go have a nice drink and dinner in an air conditioned space - you will be much happier. read more

Had a great time in the Zombie Room - definitely recommend bringing a group of colleagues or friends to this one! Our host/butler, Avery, was deeply, excellently creepy and hospitable... offering well-timed hints (which we needed) and close-up magic card tricks throughout our time in the room. Our zombie, Alex, had just the right mix of "shambling undead" vs "faster than you expect" energy, and it was genuinely stressful to evade him while solving puzzles. I have been to many escape rooms in the past but I have never experienced a "live action" escape room. The concept of an escape room is for you and your team to solve puzzles to find keys to escape the room. You are trapped in a room and you have a finite amount of time to unlock the door or you fail. The Great Room Escape is a bit different from the others. With the GRE you are trapped in the room with a zombie that is trying to eat your brains. We were also provided with a butler that assisted us with clues. The experience was great. Our team got out in time with our brains intact. The one thing I was not happy about was that you are not able to take photos or videos in the rooms. We live in a social world now. I would have loved to share at least some of the experience with my friends in snapchat. read more

We did the Zombie room and loved it. It was our 6th escape room total, but our first at this location. Alex was our "Butler" and Nick was our "Zombie"; they both did an excellent job! Alex was fun to get clues from and Nick was definitely a scary zombie lol. I wouldn't recommend this room for children as the zombie is pretty realistic, but it's perfect for an adult or if you have no issues with activities such as a haunted house where the intent is to scare you. This was definitely my favorite room out of the ones I have tried. I'd definitely recommend! We escaped with 3 minutes left although we did have some hints! read more

Great concept, bad experience. My 11 yr old daughter wanted to do an escape room for her birthday. I was worried the zombie room would be too scary for her, but she wanted to go so bad I decided to book it anyways (just myself, my son, and daughter) When we got there I talked the lady at the counter in private and asked if the zombie could go easy on us and that if any way possible if it looked like we weren't going to make it out could they please give us more hints. It was her birthday after all and I just wanted to make it fun for her. Any other time it wouldn't have mattered - if you don't make it, you don't make it. She was super understanding and said she'd let them know. The maid Renae was fantastic. She was helpful and understanding. The zombie Leeandra was the issue. She did not go easy on us at all and seemed hell bent on having us not finish. For 20 minutes she wouldn't let us get to one of the clues. I mean come on. At first its kinda cool but it just became annoying. We just had to stand there and wait. My son finally decided to 'sacrifice himself' and get the clue and attempted to toss it to us before getting tagged. The actor got mad, broke character, walked over and got the clue and put it back. At that point I almost wanted to just quit. Finally Renae whispered to the zombie and next thing we know it threw the clue on the ground. We all just stood there like wtf what is your problem? Obviously we didn't make it out. I paid $140 for my daughter to have a good birthday and that stupid actor had to ruin it. Thanks jerk. Good job ruining a kids birthday. Me and my friends all went together for one of their birthdays and OMG it was so amazing!!! Just from walking in and seeing pictures and videos of the escape room we were going to do was already setting the mood.(We did the zombie one.) Even just waiting to go into the room and listening to the safety rules you could tell this was gonna be thrilling!! And boy it was. The actors Avery and Dennis made everything come to life with their costumes, demeanors, everything. And with the room you were practically in a horror movie. The activities, the challenges, the thinking was all so well thought out and planned it was just perfect! So much fun in the moment and even to just reminisce later. 10/10 escape room. Really fun experience! Even though we were 20min later than required arrival time, the staff was very nice about it. (We ordered food in a restaurant 10min from the escape, food took 25 min to get served) our butler Avery was very professional! Our zombie "Candice" Christina had great act! We brought our 12 year girls, they were on the defense the whole time! It was very intense but fun! What an experience! I got to check this place out recently and can say that I was blown away by the place when it comes to professionalism and preparation! I don't want to go to into depth about what you actually see so as to not ruin it for others but I will say that there are several different escape situations you can participate in and all of them are equally challenging! I had so much fun working with another set of individuals on looking for clues, working together, and finding hidden items to "Escape" the room before times runs out! We had booked the cabin room and were on our way too the place when they called my phone and told us that they are closed for renovations until September. What makes me mad is that they still allow you too buy the tickets on there website it doesn't even say that they are closed!!! So I ask for a refund and they are like you will have to ask Groupon for it and now I have to wait 10 days before I get my money back!!! I would give this a 0 if I could!!! My husband & I did the zombie room with a group of 6 people we didn't know that we're celebrating a birthday. My husband & I have done over 50 games nationwide and the group had never done an escape game. WE ESCAPED WITH 10 MINUTES REMAINING The zombie & the maid were really great. The guy checking us in was not very personable. He quickly told us a few rules and then went into the room for a while to reset the game. Our entire group was 30 minutes early and he still didn't get us into the game until almost 30 minutes after our start time. Apparently I was the first to check-in on Yelp and claim the hint because he had to call someone to see what that was all about. So remember to check-in and get your hint. When we won he barely acknowledged it and kinda rushed us out not even offering to take a group photo for us. The game itself is well designed. The stress of the zombie makes fairly easy puzzles much much more difficult to complete. There are a few things red herrings, but it adds to the cool "set design". I really like the way they handle deaths in this game compared to the Room Escape Adventures Trapped in a room with a zombie we played in LA. (I think there are less puzzles in this game though.) My biggest complaint about this experience was the lack of excitement or praise from the game master when he came to escort us out after escaping and starting so late. What a let down. Not even a full group picture and we waited around for a while after we got out waiting for him to. He didn't even know out official escape time. I happened to look at the clock on the way out so I knew within a few seconds. For a game with only 6% escape rate you'd think he could have at least made us feel like it was kind of a big deal, but he didn't. read more

I booked a group of 10 amigos to take on this adventure. (Make sure you have smart friends.) We knew going in that there would be 2 strangers on our team who also booked. Maximum group is 12. We befriended them quickly. We go this this 13th floor location for the past 6 years for their haunted house and every year it is hot and they apologize for it so I am curious when this will be fixed but I think never. So be prepared! Ladies get those long tresses up and everyone dress accordingly. You leave dripping with sweat. We chose the "Cabin" theme. There other was "Zombie Room." We were told to arrive 15 minutes early so we got there right at 7:15 and were told they were running late! We were grouchy and hot so we found a bar down the street. We came back but didn't get started until 8:15. You can't take phones in the room; they lock them up in a safe. We were given some advice and the directions of work together. This is a must: TEAMWORK! We were given a few flashlights then locked in a room. I don't want to reveal anything but it was a great adventure. Teamwork helped and we escaped with 10 seconds left to spare and we were never "killed." There is a 6% success rate so it was nice knowing we did it. That made paying the ticket price very much worth it. We were the only ones who made it out that day. Grab smart friends and do this. Dress for the hot room and good luck! If it wasn't for the heat and late delay it would've been 5 stars. read more
