We had the good fortune of encountering Chef Cherryl by winning a private cooking class with her at a charity auction. She gave us a few options to choose from but we decided to go with a menu from her native Sri Lanka. Cherryl was awesome. We had the best time learning about the history of each dish and the unique ingredients that went into each as we prepared each dish together. She even left us samples of some of the more hard to find ingredients so we could make it again. Highly recommend! read more

We hired Chef Cherryl for a dinner party with 13 people on our rooftop deck. She was positive, had great energy, and provided good service but unfortunately the food was definitely not a hit. We decided on steak, fish, rice, and veggies with meatballs for appetizers. She arrived with most of the food cooked already which surprised us because she didn't ask how we wanted steaks done. She cooked them all "well done" and we were mostly a group of "medium rare" people. The dishes were plated and brought to guests on the deck and people complained that the rice, fish, and steaks were cold and steak was too dry and overdone. The food wasn't served to everyone at the same time so we couldn't all eat together. We were embarrassed. The best dish was the chocolate cake but she didn't cook that; it was purchased from somewhere else. We were hoping for a spectacular meal at the price we paid. read more

Outstanding work by Great Taste Catering! Can't recommend highly enough. We brought them on to help with a party that we hosted and catered at our home for 130 people for over 5 hours. We needed help with food prep, heating, grilling, serving, replenishing, cleaning etc., but really wanted people who were not only able to do the job, but blend into the party so that no one felt that 'staff' were on hand. Chef Cherryl and her team stepped up and more! At the same time as being supremely professional, they were always a part of the party making our guests feel comfortable but still seamlessly cleaning up, making sure everyone was well fed and happy, and immediately jumping to (with a smile) if I needed help with anything. From start to finish I felt at ease knowing Chef Cherryl and her team were there. And for the first time (we've held this party for many years), I was actually at ease to enjoy our own party and mingle with guests without worrying about the drinks, food and clean up! Just superb. Chef Cherryl is everything! I had Great Taste cater my kids birthday party. She is so easy to work with and very professional. The FOOD tastes SO good. We decided on an Indian/Srilankan menu. Meh... me thinks not is for sure...We felt ripped off! My friends and I bought a living social 2 hour sushi rolling class. The food we prepared for sorta lame as was the class. It was so basic I would only recommend for children...maybe then it would feel like a true chef was teaching us. We didn't think it was worth the cost of the class at $480 / $60/pp. We didn't feel we each had even near $40 worth of food per person, PLUS we gave her a decent tip so, really not worth it. Instruction was super-super basic.... Nothing you couldn't figure out on your own or by watching a youtube channel. The experience was not worth the hefty price. If you want to hire a great in home or client facing sushi chef (which I found later and now use all the time for client experiences) I am happy to recommend, but IT IS NOT this woman. read more

She was professional in every way and worked her magic on my very satisfied guests. I had the opportunity to take part in an Amazing cooking class hosted by Chef Cherryl this past weekend. I've always had a fear of taking a cooking class because I thought I would be lost, clueless, and embarrassed in the process. After taking my first cooking class with Chef Cherryl, I realized that even the most amateur cook can make an amazing restaurant style dish from scratch with the right coaching. She took the time to educate the class on many aspects of cooking, especially when it comes to making a great curry and where to find the best ingredients. Cherryl has been our personal chef for almost 2 years and she definitely has a great way to cook good healthy food taste delicious! I had to be on a special diet and she went out of her way to check every ingredient on the packages to make sure there was no products I couldn't eat. I could not eat soy, wheat, potatoes, dairy products, corn products and she made food taste so good I did not miss eating any of the foods I used to eat. She also gets creative when she makes food for my 3 yr old daughter and I am surprised on how broad of a palette my daughter has for food. Not only does Cherryl have fun cooking classes but she would also be great to have as a personal chef for any one who has special needs on foods that you are allergic to or can not eat, or simply want to diet. Cherryl just doesn't make healthy food she can pretty much make anything you throw at her. I once bought a sauce from a resturant and I asked her if she can duplicate it and you know what she did!
