I give my five star rating for the bbq duck. It is reasonably priced and very tasty. It comes with a little extra "duck sauce" I have enjoyed bbq duck since first trying it in childhood. Back in the 80s, my mum would take a bus to Chinatown to pick up a bbq duck for my birthday dinners. In adulthood, as more places opened up around the city - I had my fair share of comparing. This is my new favourite place to get produce. I used to shop on Victoria Drive, but last time I wanted a one-stop shop where I can get both vegetables and fresh seafood, I saw their sign and went in. The quality of the produce is better than the stores in the Victoria-41st area, and the prices are better than Teng's. In addition, they accept credit card payments when the purchase is over $5. Parking can be an issue, sometimes I find street parking a couple blocks away. And I also don't like having to drive south along Earles Street to go home, the street is too narrow. So I try to shop there in the early afternoon when traffic is not too bad. read more

My new favorite Asian supermarket when I'm too lazy to wait or shop at TNT. Let's face it, this place looks pretty ghetto from the outside. There's rotting vegetables and fruits on the side bundled up that are selling for $2. There's pieces of newspapers and wrappers on the ground outside, but walk past all that and you'll find some pretty decent items inside. There's everything you need to make a home cooked Chinese dinner inside and the parking is free. You'll find seafood in the back and BBQ items on the left hand side. I fed both my husband and I today for $7.99. Dinner consisted of the "Chef Special Fried Chicken" (half of a whole chicken) and a bunch of Kai Lan (Chinese broccoli) Not bad! read more

Picking up some last minute dinner things. I didn't notice the fish department waaaay in the back. I've been here a few times before ... it baffled me that I hadn't seen it before this visit!! the prices are okay ... depending on what you're buying. Some items are priced a bit too high, others are priced cheaper than competitors, but most of it is priced right in the middle. Staff is ... well staff seems bored to be at work. The guy in the BBQ meats dept. was serving me ... then half way through my order ... he started serving another person?? Parking is REALLY bad there. Depending on what spot you take ... other people will block you in by parking where there is no designated spot. Picture them using their car to form a T with your car. VERY inconsiderate!! Good size location for the locales here, has everything: seafood, meat, produce. Not the most cleanest nor best service. No one to flag for help. Prices are a tad higher ie my G7 coffee is $4.59 vs $3.99. 2 cashiers, accept credit card amazingly. Free parking. read more

It's still our favourite Chinese market stop on the way home from our early-morning dim sums in the neighbourhood nearby. We've been shopping there long enough now to know where most 'everything' we want to consider is located, and what's 'hot' in price, and what's not. And it's always fun 'bumping' into some of our dim sum friends doing much the same!! Plus, it seems we make new friends each time we're there - sharing shopping and cooking tips of what we're each purchasing. A new meat find this year has been their ground pork. It's very lean, coarsely-ground, priced right, and so good!! I buy a kilo or more at a time, package it up as per 'meals worth', and freeze. Have never tasted better ground pork!! On our latest visit, last Saturday, they had globe squash in the bin outside. Priced at $0.29/lb, could not resist buying a couple!! Along with a big bag of fresh and young yu choy, and some 'marked-down' apples (for sauce). Saw some good-looking pork shank/feet, but passed on purchasing - it was a touch difficult to do so, but looking ahead to fall/winter when we'll enjoy them more!! A friend recommended I buy my bbq meat here so I gave it a shot today. Upon entering the store, this old Chinese lady with a cane walking 1 meter an hour budged right in front of me. However, that is not the reason why I am writing this review - the bbq guy behind the counter was really rude to her when she was ordering. Even yelled at her to hurry and get out of the way after she ordered her cooking squid meat. She wanted to buy roast pork and he told her some BS like he cut his finger so he wasn't able to chop the pork up. Basically told her to take a hike. When it came time for me to order, I asked for 1 lb roast pork and 1 lb bbq pork. He chopped up the roast pork and slammed the Styrofoam box onto the counter with my takeout. Didn't even get me my bbq pork cuz he was probably stressed with the 5 person lineup behind me. However, I didn't complain because I was not going to want anything else from this place. Also when I took off, I noticed there was a scrap of raw ground pork on my Styrofoam box. it looks like there has been some cross contamination of food in my take out. I hope this place gets an inspection from the city soon. I ended up going to wing hing to get my bbq pork. Their attitudes are good and the meats are always delicious. I would never come back here again. I'm certain there are rats everywhere in this establishment. read more

Go-to place during my BCIT days. I quickly got tired of lugging groceries on the skytrain from Metro's Superstore, so I changed to an asian-only diet and walked to this neighbourhood joint. It's like a mini T&T. They got live seafood, meats, produce, and my favourite section, the roast & bbq meats section by the front window. My Filipino stomach craves for their Lechon (Crispy Roasted Pig). Damn that crunchy heart-clogging skin is damn good. Best enjoyed fresh or the skin will get soggy. Mmm crispy pig skin.. read more

Ok ok, I'm starting warm up to the place but still having issues with cleanliness and toilet smells in the veggie section. I realised it's best to go early in the day before all the produce is picked over as many shoppers will spend a long time sorting through all the fresh fruit/veg before selecting- leaving the bruised and rotten ones behind for people who shop after their day job. read more

This is not my go to place for Grocery as the conditions are questionable, however, when I am too lazy to go all the way to Champlain Mall for a bag of apples (also who wants to stay in a long line after work just for apples), I go here. I get more annoyed at the customers who don't understand the concept of first come first serve and just budge where and when ever. I am here more or less for the convenience and getting the one item all the time that they have and nothing less or more. Prices for stuff are noticeably cheaper for stuff. read more
