The star of the show... previously frozen desserts!
    Dannie C.

As far as Chinese Buffets go, given the recent decline in their availability...especially here in the PNW...this one gets two stars because they are still open. Compared to locations in other parts of the country that are still somehow functional...this place is awful. It works for a round of depression eating if you're prone to that sort of thing. Even the Mongolian Grill element was meh and flavorless...despite being the FRESHEST thing available. Everything else felt like three day old, reheated leftovers. The desserts were the highlight...obviously a pre-frozen dessert...but good. The negative one star came from the bottles of Tapatio on each table...seriously...if you find yourself sitting here, look at the bottles of Tapatio. Tapatio...in a Chinese restaurant...it's a nod to the clientele that visit this restaurant in droves...but the bottles themselves...look like they were plucked out of a landfill and not a single lid in sight. That alone should have made me walk out. But...I was depressed and hungry...I ate...it fit the bill...two stars :(

Dirty and less food and less selections than other buffets and rude staff

save your self from the staff attitude and food isn't that good either spend your time and money somewhere else. thank me later and you are welcome for saving you i usually dont write reviews that often but when i do because they really earned it. ps: they got dirty spot plus less food than other buffets let's say like less than half the other spots.

You can count on their staple dishes and I always enjoy the Mongolian grill! Green beans and mushrooms, fried rice and noodles, egg flour and hot and sour soups with fried wonton strips and green onions readily available! Seafood selection available and sushi. Overall, one of the most known buffets. They have been consistent and we continue to come back! Would like to see some new dishes presented and some flair to the cuisine. Let's see what this year brings!

I've been dying to go to this place ever since I moved to Salem. I drive by it every day and the parking lot is always packed. The food was great and for all you can eat to be under $15 it is such a steal. They have 7 stations of food!!!! First 3 are normal Asian/American choices with potstickers, general tso chicken, spring rolls, hot and sour soup ETC. 1 station is entirely "Mongolian BBQ". 1 station is a salad bar. 1 station is sushi and the last station is desserts. The sushi was b.a.s.i.c. But all other food was great. For the price I paid, I will definitely be back.

Food was on par with buffet expectations. I really enjoy the more quiet area as I struggle with noise overwhelm.

China Buffet 2407 Lancaster Dr NE, Salem, OR 97317…read moreC+ to B- rating It has been a year since we last visited China Buffet and I've done many more reviews on google maps highlighting other Chinese buffets and other restaurants. The restaurant at 3:30pm on a Friday was sparsely populated but extremely clean. Background music was lightly playing, just enough of a buffer to distract other people talking. The serving options (see photos) were fresh and abundant awaiting the dinner hour rush, with the serving area well maintained. The staff quickly removes used plates and refills your drinks. They offered a few fish items (see photos) calamari, oysters, whole shrimp, breaded fried fish, sea bass /bone in, and breaded fried shrimp. As you see the photos, they offer a variety of dishes. From my plate piled high, the fried food tasted better dunked in the sweet/sour sauce. The skewered chicken was thick and meaty with a nice flame cook flavor. The fried chicken pieces had their own seasoning flavor that was hard to identify but acceptable. No old oil aftertaste with the fried food. Some Chinese buffets offer the spring roll or wanton wrapper crab Rangoon the thinner ones.( my favorite) while this establishment offers the egg roll thicker version. They are filled nicely with a slight crab taste. The fried rice, and lo main noodles are an acceptable expectation. The Chinese green bean can range from decent to slightly burnt. For some reason, the seafood salad was drenched in mayonnaise. The ice cream is a disappointment, made with ice milk which lacks the creamy flavor and texture. Pepsi products are offered along with tea and coffee. While we were there, a little girl was sang happy birthday by the staff, the first time I had seen this take place outside of popular chain restaurants. A nice perk for an average Chinese buffet restaurant. If we are in the area, this is a "ok" buffet to dine at. If you are willing to drive farther, others out there are much better.

A noticeable decline at Marco Polo Global Restaurant…read more It is with genuine disappointment that I share how significantly Marco Polo Global Restaurant has changed--and not for the better. Having been a loyal patron for years, I was unaware that the restaurant had undergone an ownership change approximately one year ago. Unfortunately, the shift in management has been accompanied by a marked decline in both service and food quality. Service Concerns Table service fell well below expectations. Our server did not introduce herself, nor did she demonstrate any gestures of hospitality throughout the meal. Twice, plates were handed to us stacked, leaving the guests to distribute them ourselves--an approach inconsistent with professional table service. Water glasses were never refilled, and there was a general lack of attentiveness to our table. Menu Changes The menu has been reduced to a simple two‑sided laminated sheet, a stark departure from the former Marco Polo menu that once offered an impressive variety of thoughtfully curated dishes. Food Quality The food, regrettably, did not meet even basic standards: Singapore Noodles: The most disappointing dish of the evening. I shared my feedback with the server, who later reported that the cook had not seasoned it properly and offered to remake it. We declined. Salad Rolls: Flavorless, with a peanut sauce that was thin, cold, and lacking depth. Broccoli with Tofu: The broccoli was overcooked, wilted, and visually unappealing. The dish was marginal at best. Green Beans with Garlic: Cooked adequately, but lacking seasoning and overall flavor. Vegan Pot-stickers: The one bright spot--excellent texture, well‑prepared, and accompanied by a flavorful sauce. Overall Atmosphere The ambiance felt tired, and the restaurant appears to have lost the vitality and care that once made it a thriving local favorite. Based on our experience, it seems clear that both the kitchen and front‑of‑house staff would benefit from renewed training and leadership. Our server confirmed that the business changed hands about a year ago, and unfortunately, the decline is evident in nearly every aspect of the dining experience. We will not be returning, and it saddens me to say so--Marco Polo was once a beloved establishment in the community.
