I've visited here twice in the last month. The first time I was with my friends and children. The second was just with friends. It's an average Asian buffet. Nothing to write home about. Most of the food was hot, maybe one or two dishes seemed lukewarm. They advertise "crab legs" but really it's a seafood boil mix, with very little crab. You have to get in right when they are serving up a new tray and you may get a claw or two, otherwise they are super tiny, skinny legs that aren't worth the work to crack and eat. Peanut butter chicken is good. The staff are nice and very eager to bus your empty plates. It looks clean, however the restroom could use some more attention. We were charged gratuity the first time. We had 4 adults and 2 smaller children, who really didn't eat much. I didn't want to cause a fuss, so we paid it, but it seems silly to me. read more

This place imo has went down. Only half the food was out and what was out was cold. Their chicken tasted like it was half spoiled. Ive eaten at a-lot of buffets and this one is low on my list. I know buffets are slowly becoming a thing of the past but this one seems to be there already. The food is very mediocre, choices are pretty slim. The fruit seemed like it was on its last leg. The sushi though it was prepped onsite didn't taste fresh, same could be said of hibachi ingredients. The establishment did appear to be clean though a little rundown however the staff were friendly. Incredible value of a variety of clean shrimp and red snapper fillets. Their sushi is outstanding considering it's a buffet because they actually know how to do the rice. Their sushi is actually quite good, I've had worse at actual sushi restaurants. At least with this place the dinner buffet is only $19.95 so you have very little investment and if you can't find something good to eat there, that is your own fault. read more

Went for the lunch buffet. Sushi had flavor. Other fish options were lacking flavor.. No crab option for lunch. Standard flavor for General's taos chicken, noodles, rice, hot sour soup, and other offerings. So that day's experience for the fish offering was disappointing. While the folks running this place seemed perfectly pleasant, the food--particularly the lack of freshness and lukewarm temperature of "hot" dishes--left much to be desired. My daughter and I recently stopped in for a weekend lunch and were cheerfully greeted and promptly seated. The selection of hot, cold and sushi was subpar. No miso soup, no seaweed salad, no salmon or tuna nigiri -- just a half dozen variations of California Roll and some skimpy pieces of yellowtail and other routine offerings. I tried some stir fried green beans, shrimp, and spring rolls, but they were all room temperature at best--weird since I saw a lot of steam generally coming up from under the serving trays. I would not return to this restaurant because the food, in my opinion, was low quality. Most of it was overcooked and just not appealing or tasty. There was a group of us, so they automatically added gratuity for bringing us water/drinks and the check....It's a buffet where you serve yourself. Yes we were seated in a separate room which was nice. They do have a big variety of Asian inspired foods including a sushi bar, salad bar and a dessert bar which were all just --ok. Constantly adding fresh food to the buffet, lots of cooked choices, hibachi- style is a create your own fresh and hot but they cook it for you, sushi, fresh fruit and salad makings. Clean and bright. Don't no why Miyoko is underrated. We've dined several times and found the quality and variety of seafood very appealing. Have eaten here many times since they opened. Food is pretty consistent and good. I especially like the sushi bar and can fill up on that alone. Peanut butter chicken is always good too. Instead of explaining to us that a 12year old was considered an adult the receptionist lady went off like literally yelling saying that 1 adult hasn't been paid for & said "SO WHAT NO ONE GONNA PAY FOR ONE" like sit TF down & chill lady. She went off like a chihuahua. She definitely has some issues. Really bad customer service. She looked like the evil lady from Cobra Kai & he ego definitely matches it as well. May 10, updating my mid-March review .. Been there three more times, excellent every time. Always plenty of sushi :-). Usually need a nap after eating too much... The only downside to this restaurant - if you consider it a downside, and I don't - is it's not Really Huge. Yes, it's amply large, but you won't get lost inside. Yes, they serve the classics, probably 10-12 entrees, but they don't have the vast variety of the bigger Vegas buffets. So if you're determined to eat sweet and sour prawns, twice-cooked pork or black bean scallops you're probably out of luck But at these prices I can live with that. And for the whiner who gave one star just because the Mongolian grill wasn't spicy enough: there are several grocery stores nearby. Buy and carry in your own bottle of chili ie fire oil, drink it while you eat, light yourself up. read more

If you don't pay attention to your bill and how they are charging you for your minors ( under 13) as adult fee meals , there is a very big differences in adults prices and children prices . Buffets are a hard one to rate. Generally speaking, they cater to the least common denominator of food. With that in mind, our experience was good. The buffet had a variety of sushi, seafood, and other entrees so selection was good. Flavor wise, most of it was good but uninspiring. Nothing really stood out as great, and given the distance we drove to get there, I'm not convinced it was worth the trip. My rating is high because i compare it to other similar buffets. I was really looking forward to trying Miyoko Buffet, the new Chinese buffet / Mongolian grill in Salem. What drew me in was the Mongolian grill aspect, but what a huge disappointment. Although I told the chef at the grill that I wanted my food spicy, it came out incredibly bland. Incredibly bland. Unfortunately, the only flavoring available to the chef was sriracha sauce. After tasting my dish I had to add more sriracha sauce, which is also available at each table, along with soy sauce. Still, I couldn't get my food to taste at all flavorful, so I left 80% of it uneaten, and went to the buffet instead. I tried a little of most items - some were okay, but again, not a whole lot of flavor, for the most part. My advice for Miyoko Buffet - have a variety of different flavor sauces available for the Mongolian grill. If a customer's only choice is what level of sriracha sauce to include with their dish, most will come away disappointed. I use sriracha at home, but a component of a sauce - I would never use pure sriracha to flavor a dish, but that's your only option at Miyoko Buffet. Also, instead of offering large pieces of thinly sliced chicken, beef and pork, why not dice your meats into bite-sized pieces instead. No one wants to stuff a giant slice of meat into their mouth (knives are available, but you have to get one yourself). Needless to say, I don't plan on returning to Miyoko Buffet. read more

My husband and I love this place! Great sushi! There's a pretty great selection of seafood, chicken, appetizers, desserts, fruits, etc. There's always been plenty and it's always been hot when we've been there. 4 stars for different reasons. Miyoko is a good addition to the neighborhood. My family and I have been long term lovers of the Great Wall, across town. I love their seaweed salad with my sushi. My wife can spend her whole plate on the fish and spinach. Miyoko is much like many of the other Chinese buffets around. It's a little pricey, bit in the $$$ range. They are open 7 days a week from 11:00am until closing. Open space with good distance between seating. I see them as three restaurants in one. Chinese buffet first. I loved the buttered mushrooms and sesame balls. Some of the chicken was dry and a little under spiced for my taste. The grill work was lacking. I tried the squid grilled with bean sprouts and green onions. The mix returned was oily and over salted. To bad because this is the first place I found with squid on the grill works. Saving the best for last. Sushi bar was worth the price of the whole meal. I had spicy tuna, California roll, Seaweed, and a Rainbow roll. It was made as fast is they could put it out. Stars to the sushi chef. Big stars for their sushi. I will be coming back again for the all you can eat sushi lunch under $20. As a business model, I would increase the sushi role and kill off the grill. While writing this review, I changed from 4 to 5 stars. I liked the sushi that much and paid that little. When was the last time you had a sushi date where the bill was under $50 for two? Now think about the "All you can eat" add on. Impressive. One last thing. Take out. Billed as a Japanese Buffet, we couldn't really differentiate its offerings from most Chinese buffets. It does have a sushi selection on one side, but that that is also true of many Chinese buffets these days. Nice variety, lots of sushi. All of the dishes I tried seriously lacked in flavor! I did not try the Hibachi or dessert. They had 3 soups, egg drop, hot and sour and another with lots of greens. I tried the hot and sour it was not hot or sour. I looked all over for some vinegar to add to make it sour. None was to be found. I am a senior but forgot to mention that to the server before she placed the check on the table (right as we were about to start eating), so I did not get the senior discount. I hate to disparage a business, but this is the worst buffet I've ever been to. Not a very good selection. The food is bad. The only thing I recommend is the sushi, which was okay. But I got there at 8 with 2 hours left till close and they never replenished the sushi, so I only got a few pieces. There are much better places in Salem than this. read more
