Great Wall Buffet can either be great or just plain nasty. The problem is you never know which it will be until after you pay and start eating. Same goes for drink service. The odor coming from the carpet totally blows the deal. We complained about the overpowering odor after the second visit. The hostess said, "what odor, there is no odor?" This place is good idk what everyone is talking about. It has a nice amount of fresh selections. It also has a stir fry bar with noodles, veggies & meat. Also it has a sushi bar with more selections than any other buffet I've been to. A huge fruit bar. The only thing wrong with this place is the waitress service is tremendously slow. Horrible service. The workers never smile.... ever! Nobody came to refill our drinks. We had to flag someone. There were hardly any food on the buffet. You had to ask for the empty stuff in order for them to fill it. And the food that were there were so dry and old. No crabs.. ever! When they finally brought some out, the crabs looked anorexic, and they only brought about 6 scrawny legs. Only good thing about this place was the noodle bar. At least that was made fresh. Felt like Chinese decided to try great wall buffet. Price ave $9 . good selection of food both Asian and american. Very nice salad selection also had a Mongolian style stir fry. Tables were bussed frequently which is important for an overeating chubber. Only down side was Buffet means tepid food and nothing sensational. Ate there tonight for the first and last time. Nothing good about it. It was: Most of what I ate was lukewarm at best and tasted like yesterdays leftovers. The crab legs although tasty, were very hard to come by. They would bring out 4 or 5 every 5-10 minutes. Most of the selections looked like they had been there all day. Every time we go it seems that the person at the counter is always on the phone. On the weekends at night they sometimes have crab, but never put out more than a few pieces and it takes them forever to refill it. Absolutely not worth the money. read more

I have been going to this buffet for years. Every month when I make my mortgage payment I would stop in for lunch and always enjoyed it. I have even brought several people there who loved the choices of food. I brought a new friend there today and we sat down to eat and I found a foot long hair in my peanut chicken. As I pulled on the hair it actually lifted the chicken from the plate. When I brought it to the manager's attention I was told it happens all of the time in restaurants. She told me I wouldn't have to pay for my meal but then took away my plate and she and a waiter stayed very close by to make sure I did not eat from my friends plate. Like I would, I was pretty grossed out. I will never visit this restaurant again, perhaps if the manager was a little bit more polite and apologetic I would give them a second chance, but I just felt they did not care one bit. Add to that, if you pay with cash, they never ring up the sale. In fact they keep the cash register drawer open all of the time and just use it to make change after they add up the bill on a calculator. Me thinks they are doing creative accounting. read more

I had been going to the Great Wall for a couple of years, but now, they have milked their last cow with me. I'm not looking for superb service at a buffet, but I do expect that the food be cooked properly and not rotting in the hot table. They had miniature lobsters and I cracked one upon and low and behold, it was no longer fit to be eaten and had rotted. The rest of their food was on the same level either not cooked enough or cold. Least to say, I am never ever going back. And if you go there on the weekend for lunch (before 3:00) expect to pay the dinner price which is 12.99 each without drinks. Ate here with my mother. We were invited to seat ourselves while the distracted cashier was occupied by her cell phone. There were no utensils or napkins on the table, I asked one of the staff on the floor for utensils and was told they were on the table, I would not have asked if they were! We sat in place for about 10 minutes waiting for a server to bring our utensils and drinks. I finally walked into the server station and got some forks, mom had to get her own napkins. Our drinks were refilled without our asking, but the server was not all that friendly. Sushi was standard fare for this type of eatery, my stir fry noodles had a slightly charred flavor and black grill top specks in them. I would have given 4 stars had the customer service been better. We just missed lunch, so it was not very busy, no excuse for practically non-existent service. read more

What a difference a year makes! Last July my sister and I went to Great Wall Buffet and vowed never to return. Tonight, craving Chinese food, we tried it again based on recent Yelp reviews. Granted, we went at 5:00pm, when all the trays were filled and hot. Every dish was terrific! My favorites: orange chicken, whole shrimp, potstickers, peanut chicken, thin noodles with vegetables, crab Rangoon, spinach with garlic. Really, every dish was great!! THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!!! our server never took one empty plate from our table. Never filled our drinks...and on top of it all the food was always empty. No wonder they say buffet, when they never refill the food at dinner rush hour! This place is pretty incredible. They have EVERYTHING--every Chinese dish you can imagine, including fancy seafood and duck, plus a DIY stirfry station, sushi, silly American fare like pizza, fries, roast beef, and apple pie, a dessert bar, soft serve, and MORE. I was feeling kind of guilty going here because I'd just gone off on how I needed something light and healthy, but then I got so so hungry that all I could think about was a buffet, and when Great Wall appeared in front of me I couldn't resist. But afterward, despite having eaten more than necessary, I didn't feel *that* bad. The food is not as greasy as you might expect, and I actually thought some of the dishes were pretty healthy: steamed spinach, baked salmon, fried sugar-coated dough balls.... Came here with some friends from out of town. They had been here before and had really enjoyed it before. I had never been here before. I thought the decor was pretty plain and the lighting was a bit dark for my tastes. But I am here for the food and not necessarily the decor. The buffet tables were full and the food was pretty tasty imo. I found plenty of food that I really enjoyed and ate every bite. They even have a Mongolian Grill in the back so you can build your own plate and have it cooked fresh for you. I love this kind of stuff. The service was quick and helpful keeping our drinks filled and our plates cleared . After reading reviews here about their health records I looked it up and they got a 80 in September. I've always enjoyed coming here. It's a typical buffet, so you have a variation of foods to eat. You can also make your own meal creation with noodles and your choice of meat right in front of you. I've never really had a problem here, although service can be a little slow sometimes and the restaurant could use a little remodeling/decorating after all the years it's been open. I love this place. The food is authentic. I love the siu may (the best one I have ever tasted than in many other places!), the cheese stuffed mussels. Awful! Not only are the seats all ripped up and place not clean, the food was not good. Seafood was frozen, not fresh. Veggies were either frozen or canned. Mediocre taste. Even the packaged fortune cookies were stale. I don't even think their soups were homemade. Very dirty place. Should be called Great Border Buffet. Just another typical greedy UN-Authentic Chinese place that caters more to their Latino regulars and serves overly processed/stale food. All the TV channels were in Spanish so I asked the waitress if she could switch the audio to English and she said she was unable to as she didn't have access to the remote supposedly. Also, my girlfriend was eating a plate of veggie fried rice and there was a live ant in her food! I actually was the one that noticed and stopped her before she put the fork in her mouth. God knows how many of us unsuspectingly ate these things in our food. We immediately mentioned this to the manager who didn't speak English too well. He couldn't refund us for this issue as a matter of principle so we left. Never again will we be eating here. read more
