Recently was in San Francisco and after a full day of Folsom Street fair some chinese and a football game was in order. Taking the plane home and unpacking and getting settled and still the need for more chinese was going strong. Apparently the takeout of the night before did not satisfy the craving. Going to the Great Wall of China for the first time was good and bad. The food was good the sauces and quality and freshness of the food was awesome. The service was great, but yet the server did not offer help. Only after asking about many things on the menu did she clarify what came with a standard order such as yummy eggroll and chicken wing and soup. The menu was missing the specifics of what comes with each order. Also the menu listed Pepsi with Sprite as the options for sodas. Yet they serve Coke products and not Pepsi. Enjoy the great food and remember to ask ask ask, because the menu at this time is outdated and incomplete. This place is a 3.5 but it gets a 3 because I would mark a place lower if I leave a restaurant not content. My wife, father and I went on his request even though it was at three stars. I keep in open mind when i go into any place no matter the ranking....here we go. We started with the wonton soup and calamari. The woton soup was average and the calamari was good. The calamari is not your typical seafood restaurant make up. It had onions and had thicker pieces, similar to chunks of meat vice the traditional curled bunches. The spicy sauce was definately good and highly recommended. My dad go the Tofu vegetable bowl which was made right in front of us, steam hissing and all; pretty cool, but not that tasty. Wife, as usual, has the mushu chicken which had a BBQ cooked flavor on it which i really liked, but she didnt. I would recommend it. I got the sesame chicken. Although hit and miss on the reviews, i though, WHY NOT?! Nothing special, unfortunately. the meat was cooked well, but had fatty pieces in it. The sauce it was in was average. Not recommended. We used Yelp's order delivery system to get dinner from this place, and definitely regretted doing so. The "special" house dumplings app, which you could request either steamed or fried, were just plain old pot stickers. (Notwithstanding there was another app on the menu titled "pot stickers".) These tasted OK, but had a very thick dough, making the edges hard to chew. And our "steamed" dumplings arrived fried. The house fried rice was almost flavorless. How do you screw up fried rice?? The beef and chicken were bland, but they were kind enough to include 4 shrimp in the dish. We also ordered the tofu and eggplant stirfry. Again, very much lacking in flavor. The tofu was tough and the eggplant had no flavor at all. We chose this place, in spite of its less-than-4-star review, because of the convenient delivery ordering. Bad choice. read more

I've come here a few times in the past few years and the food is good and the service has always been friendly. Nothing really stands out with me with the exception that they have sushi! I'm a self admitted sushi slut, so being close to Davis Monthan and only having about 45 minutes for lunch It's my go to. 9 bucks for a rainbow roll and the chef is non traditional but hey, it's sushi on a budget in a rush! The entrance is actually in the rear ( parking lot) Once you step in, your greeted. I liked the atmosphere inside. My waiter was second to none, and the food is well prided. , bot to mention it tasted great. I never asked for refills and my waiter went out of her way to make sure I was satisfied. I've been here about three times and I will continue to go. The food is delicious and the delivery is always fast! My go to order is the house pan fried noodles and a cup of hot and sour soup. The boyfriend likes the orange chicken. I go here quite frequently I absolutely love the food and service has been consistent everytime we go our favorite is sesame chicken and the crab wontons ! This place is never to busy and children are treated well I have been out to eat Many times with our kids and everyone treats us like we shouldn't be there because all kids our rambunctious ! I ordered delivery from these guys tonight. I ordered two entrees and an appetizer. They got one of the entrees wrong. I asked for no veggies in the Lo Mein, and veggies were the dominant ingredient of the dish. The other entree was good, and the appetizer was just "ok". I have, however, legitimate concerns over whether or not the "crab puffs" actually contain any crab, either real or imitation. I'll be continuing my search for fresh, flavorful dim sum in Tucson because Great Wall China does not make the cut. We ordered a number of dishes and were less than satisfied with most. The roasted duck was flavorful, but over cooked and dry - even rubbery in some parts. Sesame balls should be served hot and crispy, but these were a soggy, lukewarm, oily disappointment. The turnip cakes were an exception to the disappointment. Turnips are shredded and fried, making for a sweet and flaky, almost buttery square of yumminess. The service, while friendly, was slow and inattentive. The prices are fair but overall I would not recommend this place to a friend unless their expectations were very low. read more

I have never been to Sakura and I never went to the previous Great Wall of China, so I wasn't really there to see if it was as good as before or similar to sakura. What I did find is that the food wasn't great, in fact it was pretty bland, actually it was tasteless. Service was weird, we had a lot of people coming to our table, including Mr. An, but no one really took a minute to asks us how the food was, or if we needed a refill, they just dropped food items and ran. Back to the food, it was one of those times when you spend your money and feel like you don't know if what you paid for it is worth it. When you wish you could turn back time and go somewhere else to eat. When you wish that you stayed home and had sandwiches instead. Like you just threw $60 out the window. It was not worth it, I'd rather tell you that the food was gross, that it made me sick, but it didn't, it just made me feel empty. read more

I chanced on this restaurant during my hellish stay on Craycroft Rd (see review for Super 8, Tucson) ... glad I did. Having had more than one, less than a million Chinese takeouts I definitely know the drill - but I was surprised to be seated at the bar and receive something I hadn't experienced in a while: GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'm keeping this short, but if I could, I would gush on and on ... I had the calamari, sesame chicken, and egg rolls. All excellent, fed two, total bill $25. Yes, there's the ubiquitous picture of the owner (?) everywhere but I just read that as "hey, this is the guy to go after if you don't like our sh..." I would give them a zero if I could mainly because they would not honor a gift certificate that was given to me and had been in my possession for about a week. Not to mention that it was expired by one day. The location is gross and the food is nothing special. If they are that stingy about gift certificates, they must really need the business. The service was O.K.... but the food was definitely NOT O.K.! I ordered a large Egg Drop soup, which was large and very good. My wife ordered the "Ma Po Tofu", which while not very good, was edible. I also ordered Egg Fu Young with vegetables. Try as I could using the large spoon which was offered, along with a fork, I could not cut away a piece of the rubbery dish. I called for the server, and I handed the plate back to her and said "I can not eat this", and offered her a fork to try to cut into it. She called the manager over , who also tried to cut into the Egg Fu Young unsuccessfully. They asked if I wanted anything else, and I said "no". When the bill came it was for $23.50, and the manager proudly said.. "See.. I removed one half of the price for you" (half price being $4.50). I responded that I did not eat the food, and that I am a regular eater of Chinese food, particularly Egg Fu Young. She said "sorry... that is how we make it here... you must pay for half". I removed the $4.50 from the bill myself, and I left $21. That was $19.50 for the soup and Tofu, and $2.50 gratuity for the server. We left the restaurant slowly so that if they wanted to challenge us, they could, but they did not. I do not recommend this spot at all, and surely will not return. read more

I was so excited when I realized I lived in the delivery area of The Great Wall. I am from San Fran and am always looking for decent takeout. My daughter loves the Orange Chicken, which is actually pretty good. I have ordered from here more than a dozen times. I have tried a variety of dishes. I love House Lo Mein, but sometimes it is so oily and slimey it is inedible. The Curry Shrimp/and or any protein is a joke. It's so watery there is no actual curry taste. The veggies in the dish are raw. No more dumplings, so you can only order the soggy potstickers. The delivery service is good, things are packaged well, but it's a crap shoot on whether it's gonna taste good. I CAN say that the Orange Chicken is good! read more

Well, Great Wall is certainly not in my neck of the woods, but it was totally worth a trip to Air Force Base land to check this place out. Not too many people in there on a Friday night. By the time we left, we were the last people out except for a drunk girl who had come for a take out order and stayed to embarrass herself by stumbling around and acting belligerent. That is besides the point, Great Wall is good! We tried as many different dishes as we could fit on the table (what is it about Chinese food that makes you order more than it is humanly possible to consume?) The stand outs were the calamari, very light and crispy with a very delicious sauce, and the walnut shrimp. Yum! Giant shrimp and plenty of walnuts in a sticky but not overly sweet glaze. I was pretty bored with the soups and the crab wontons. The prices are higher than the average Chinese joint, but you get to see the owners face adorned on every surface and the customer service is really outstanding. In these ways, Great Wall sets itself apart. read more

Please don't go!!! Big menu but many of them are either not available or they can't serve because the foods are still too FROZEN. (That's what the server explained, and most of the food we ordered tasted really old and frozen) We tried a couple of dimsum dishes, which were just okay, rather disappointing, the wonton soup wasn't very impressive, and fried pork bun was odd. Very very greasy and no pork inside. We also ordered a Vietnamese noodle dish with salad and egg rolls and that was sadly horrible. We go eat Vietnamese pretty often and I think I have never tasted such thing before. We wouldn't go back. The delivery arrived basically in the time frame I was quoted. The food is one of the worst I have ever eaten in my life. The sesame chicken was dried out making it inedible. My dogs wouldn't even eat it so it went straight to the garbage can. There was way too much rice, and that too was dried out. The eggroll was so soggy it was also deemed inedible. The chicken lo mein was tasty but once again, the chicken was dried out. I didn't even try the hot &sour soup for fear of another disappointment, and I received 1 package of hot mustard sauce. I only eat two things when I come here, their Jampong and Jajangmyun. Best I have found so far in AZ other than what my mom makes of course. They put a decent amount of seafood in their Jampong and make the noodles fresh at the location. Highly recommend this place if you like Jampong and Jajangmyun or if you want to try it. read more

The prices were reasonable, they seemed to have a lot of specials/promotions which is always a bonus for me because some days I just don't know what I want to eat, so I will just pick a place because they're doing a promo! However, some of the food was OK, like their soup. It was typical, nothing special for me. But I liked the pot stickers. But the sweet and sour pork was terrible. The sweet and sour tasted odd, like it was on heat for too long and the pork was over cooked and really chewy. EVEN after calling to confirm my order whilst adding to my order. And then proceeded to argue with me and say it is done that way every time and that i must have made the mistake in ordering something different. Great Wall China - what can I say? It has food that bears a slight resemblance to Chinese food. Or should I say it has a product served by servers that bears a slight resemblance to food. I have never before seen my partner/girlfriend send food back, but it happened today. Our meal started with Jasmine tea unlike any Jasmine tea I have ever had. It may as well have been Lipton's tea. Not bitter, not awful, not Jasmine. We opened our napkins hoping to find something to stir the tea with, and found some awful Japanese style plastic chopsticks. Re-usable chopsticks are not necessarily "green" particularly in the desert where water is a scarce resource. And food slips right off the sticks and back onto the plate (if you are lucky). Then arrived a complimentary egg roll and chicken wing, very annoying to a semi-vegetarian like myself. Beef and chicken should definitely not be served unannounced in an Asian restaurant. Amy's egg roll was excessively salty and without flavor. Mine went untouched. We were presented with egg drop soup (so so) and finally our appetizer, the vegetable spring rolls which we had ordered. We ate half of one spring roll and discarded the other one and one half. The egg roll had a strong and disagreeable off flavor. Old frying oil and bitter vegetables? Who knows. Finally, our main dishes arrived. Pan fried noodles and sweet and sour chicken. The pan fried noodles were salty beyond belief. There was no way to eat the dish. The noodles soggy and not crisp. And the noodles tasted of old oil. The sweet and sour chicken was mediocre. I have had better at the local Chinese buffets. Sweet and sour sauce out of a can is the same whether at a buffet or a nice sit down restaurant, lousy. All in all, we will never go back there. read more
