Chicken Pho okay not great. Others in town better
    Jim S.

This is a fast food establishment. Had to stand in line to order/pay just like McDonalds. If there is no server why is there a tip requested. I hate this new trend. I get it if I was getting it to go but I specifically said I was dining in. I got the chicken pho. It was okay nothing to write home about. The decor is fast food seating. Uncomfortable table and chairs. No booths. If you brought a first date here you wouldn't get a second date It's okay in a pinch but will probably not be back

Amazing food, awesome friendly service The curry there was top-tier best I've had in the city the waiter was very nice and friendly gave us extra fortune cookies.

I've been coming here countless times, and I can confidently say this is my go-to spot for Asian food in Tucson! After trying various places around the city, nothing compares to the flavors and quality served here. The dishes are consistently delicious, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Definitely my favorite Asian food in town, and my favorite date spot :)

    Teriyaki wings

I placed a to go here. I Called and placed my order with ease. I got the pork egg rolls (very good, 2 in an order). For my entree I got the Beef and broccoli with fried rice (entirely too salty! I couldn't finish half of it.) and I got an order of teriyaki wings (A half dozen. They were a good size, bigger than most wings at other restaurants. But they were all drum sticks and it didn't taste like teriyaki to me. The flavor wasn't bad, like a hint of honey. But it did not taste like teriyaki to me)

Still in search of a decent Chinese restaurant on the east side. All--and I mean all--of them are disappointing. So far I have tried almost all of them, many are 4 stars and the only conclusion I can come up with is that the good folks on the east side have no clue what good Chinese food is. I sure miss China Szechwan on the west side. As well as Jun Dynasty. Guilin Chinese Restaurant. Noodleholics. China Pasta House. So with that intro, not returning to Hot Wok. It was just OK. Had the sesame chicken that should be called "battered, deep-fried chicken in sweet sauce with a few sesame seeds for looks." Also the beef and broccoli (dish to gauge the baseline of a Chinese restaurant). It was OK, nothing to write home about. The beef was tender. The whole thing was good, sort of, but not spectacular as in "Wow! Good stuff, I want more!" You know you like the food when you look forward to the leftovers the next day. Meh. As a matter of fact, we threw the chicken away. I'll keep searching... 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

    "Mongolian Beef" supposedly

The prices were great but the food was terrible. It looked disgusting, but the food was alright. Definitely not worth the price. The service was terrible. They were moody and forgot ALL the sauces in our order. The crab puffs we ordered said that they came with sweet and sour sauce, but they didn't. The "Mongolian Beef" looks nothing like Mongolian beef. Never coming here again, don't waste your time or money

Orange chicken and rice, fried wonton

Absolutely loved it! I got the orange chicken and white rice also fried wonton. I didnt eat the wonton i just simply didnt like it but the orange chicken with rice was delicious! Very big portions of food too..well the rice was very plain, (should have gotten fried rice) but okay when eating it with the chicken. The workers were nice, helpful and the food was served very fast. The place was nice and clean aswell, it was late so kind of empty..the table was a lil sticky im ngl im just ngl but mo issue!. The water was warm and tasted like tap but i really liked the orange chicken guys..also the fountain drinks were tasty aswell i didnt like the fortune cookies

    Beef Ribs
    Cardboard S.

Delicious food at lightning speeds. I highly recommend the spring rolls and beef ribs as appetizers. But be warned, the beef ribs are GIANT! For entrees, I usually go with the pork vermicelli bowl if it's a hot day, and pho if it's a cold day. But I've never been disappointed in anything I've ordered. Today, we had the beef ribs, spring rolls, and pad Thai (pictures). Anyway, go eat here. The staff are super nice and the food is super good -- what else do you need?

    Me head to you

The beef ribs were delicious a fair portion for the price. I did not get the fried rice as I thought 1495 was overpriced for rice.

It had great flavor and perfect appetizer to start the meal. The garlic vegetable was slightly overcooked but had great garlic flavor and paired perfectly with our cumin lamb. Cumin lamb was our favorite today as it had nice flavor and tender lamb with onion and cilantro mixed in. The beef ho fun was as expected. We had plenty of leftovers since portions were big. We got an array of standard fare as well as some things that I don't normally see on menus of other Chinese restaurants around town. The dumplings were good, though I was underwhelmed by the lack of spice on the Spicy Pork wonton dumplings. The flavor was very good, but it was not spicy at all. For entrees, we got Curry Chicken and Cumin Lamb. I'd never had Cumin Lamb before, and it rocketed to the top of my favorites list! It was gorgeously flavorful, fragrant, and spicy, warming as I ate. The spiced oil soaked into the rice, spreading the flavor to every last grain. It's really lovely and I highly recommend it. The restaurant is bigger than it appears from the outside, with a bright, cheerful ambience. Despite being busy, it never felt too loud, which was nice. The servers worked as a team and were very attentive. It was a great meal!

Food: (4/5) Hummingbird nest or something like that:(4/5) It's a bit bland, but it has a good variety of shrimp, scallops, snow peas, and other vegetables on a crispy shell. Good low sodium option in my opinion. Walnut shrimp: (3/5) I'm not the biggest fan of sweet and salty foods, but it was pretty savory and crunchy despite the sauce. Pork intestines: (5/5) These were so crispy and oily. The spicy aroma from the peppers also isn't that unpleasant. Overall a very oil heavy dish and just as delicious. I did order another dish, but it wasn't that outstanding and I forgot the name of it. Service: (5/5) Water refills were frequent and there wasn't much else to it. Everything was quick and efficient. Ambiance: (4/5) Very quiet and dim restaurant. Even talking normally felt very loud. Decor in the walls definitely establishes the vibe. Overall a very nice experience. Left us questioning the 'freshness' and authenticity. A little generous with my star rating, as we both left more than 75% of our plates behind....settled the bill, tipped, and bounced. Will not return but wish them the best. Regarding service, it was ok, but some of the other comments ring true. For example, in the middle of taking our order - the server asked the gentlemen at the table right next to us who just sat down, "What would you like to drink?" while standing talking to me. Perhaps a little training inside and outside the kitchen would raise the tide across the board.

Stopped by for an early afternoon brunch today. Big mistake…read more But first, let me say that our server was friendly and attentive and could not have been more helpful. Promptly seated, drinks brought out, order taken and food delivered fast, hot and correct. The background music was some chinese music tv station playing modern easy listening tunes and, along with the comfortable chairs and solid table made for a relaxing environment. The food? meh. You can see our order in the latest photo and how expensive it was. the Lo Mein was mostly tasteless and certainly lacking in thast "lo mein flavor." Although the meat was tender, the sauce was just a sticky brown sauce. Surprisingly, the Spicy Pickle Tofu was essentially the same sticky brown sauce as the Lo Mein but with some fried tofu in it and without the noodles but nothing otherwise remarkable. You can tell by looking at my earlier picture attached. The old picture shows a bright and colorful plate. The dish today was a dark brown (you could hardly see the tofu from the beef) as everything was just dark. Eggplant seemed to have a similar brown sauce as well but the eggplant was otherwise tasteless. Nothing popped. Chicken bites were bland and not at all crunchy. Just fried to soft texture but no real flavor. According to our server, the menu was just recently updated about a month ago. We noticed because one of our favorites was the Fried Taro Pie which is now gone from the menu and the server said yes, that's right. Maybe this place has a new owner or chef, but it's no longer in my top asian restaurants for Tucson.
