Called ahead to order, was told the wait would be 1 HOUR, however that was fine as they said they were busy. They took our order, name, number, and gave us a total... Showed up to the restaurant 1 hour later only to be told that they didn't have a record of our order, but they would be happy to take the order again if we wouldn't mind waiting another 45 minutes...horrible service. I really enjoy Chinese food and since moving to Fresno it's been really difficult to find a good Chinese restaurant. I ordered pick up from here and it was only 20-25 minute wait which is fine. Not an issue at all. The thing I was confused about was my chicken chow mein. I opened it and it was full of sauce and lacked of color. I thought OK they just do it differently. And then I saw the noodles and some of them were a beige color, and then others you could tell they were burnt from the pan. I'm not sure if it was just my plate of chow mein, but I didn't have much flavor. I actually decided to put their sweet-and-sour sauce on top of it to add flavor. And like someone previously mentioned, the chicken in the way they chop, it it's all different sizes, and it's not chopped all the way, or there are a good amount of fat pieces. Anyways, it wasn't a horrible experience and the food wasn't horrible as some people have described, but I will definitely say it's just "OK ". read more

Terrible today! We come here a lot and today was beyond horrendous. Years ago this place tanked in its food but somehow they recovered but it's headed back down and today was the worst. I ordered a dish I've ordered several times before but today it tasted like dingy waaaay over salted water with very little ingredients. I decided not to eat it so as to not get sick and tried to order something different. I ordered another plate we get a lot but it took over 30 minutes and still no food. I kindly explained I did not have any more time and just asked her to cancel the order. Magically she brings a plate to go. Surprisingly she still charged me. I ended up not eating lunch today. To top it all off the health department arrived for an inspection while we were there. It's a shame they have let this restaurant slip it was very good. read more

Now Im not trying to say Chinese food in America is horrible, but it isn't just good- Im not here to make fun of Americans and their choice for Chinese food so therefore I'm going to say it nicely and be less harsh.... its just not authentic people! and it barely taste like Chinese food at all; so when I do taste good Chinese food at a Chinese restaurant in America, I will honor them with my best compliments. {order recommendations: Sizzling seafood and the bean cake Szechuan pork} Before you go on ordering everything on the menu, its important for you to consider looking at the choices on their menu, their menu offers the normal American deep fried stuff lathered in sauce like the orange chicken, kung pau chicken, beef broccoli and what not, and then they also have fried rice and noodles which looks pretty much made for American taste buds. However if you explored the menu like I did, you will also find some Szechuan authentic cuisines on their last page, and that is where you should aim for when ordering. I had their Sizzling Seafood $13.75 and it was so flavorful and perfectly cooked to the real taste of fresh Chinese cooking. It had a very nice savory, lightly salty taste instead of the normality of other restaurants cooking it in a rich sweet sauce. The seafood was also fresh and the platter contained an abundance of shrimp, calamari, scallops and fish. It had also water chestnut, bamboo shoots, sugar snap peas, mushroom and onions. The dish came out in a nice hot plate that was sizzling and emitting a fragrant and inviting flavor. Their bean cake Szechuan pork $8.25 a mildly spicy tofu dish, was perfectly seasoned and had the real taste of Szechuan cooking. It had the salty taste from the use of fermented soy beans (tauchu), coupled with the perfect chicken broth and chili that was thickened with corn starch, giving it a nice thick consistency. The chicken and soft tofu pieces was very generous and was so smooth and easy to enjoy. It had a light intense red color that made it strikingly delicious and the aroma was just spot on. Besides the great Chinese Szechuan cooking, the service was impeccable, my server was filling up our glass through out the meal, she was also very friendly and courteous. She also followed up with my request, such as making sure the dish was lightly salted, and my rice be placed in the bowl and chopstick as my only cutlery (because that is how I eat my Chinese food, the traditional way) I would be back in a heartbeat. My only recommendation is for people to order the right things, and you will be enjoying your meal. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This used to be where I would take my family for dinner and where I would go to lunch with my friends. But last year there seemed to be new ownership (or management) and the entire staff changed. After that the service was begrudging (bordering on angry) and the food wasn't anywhere near as flavorful. The food seems to be missing seasoning and I haven't gotten anything that came piping hot since the changeover. Last night I tried to place an order and the woman on the phone kept reading it back to me incorrectly -- four times ‍ I asked her to get someone else's help since she didn't understand what I was asking. Great Wall isn't great..but it is alright. We've been four times for sit-down meals, and twice for take out. Here's my run-down: 1. Service: 2-4 stars depending on who you get (very hit or miss) We've had servers who seemingly forgot about us even though the place was mostly empty, and we've had very good servers who had great timing, always made sure our beverages were re-filled, etc. We have never had a problem with accuracy of our order. 2. Food--3-4 stars, depending on entree. Nothing terrible, but the chow mein noodles tend to be a bit greasy and over-cooked, as is the rice, but the orange chicken, kung pao chicken, lettuce wraps, snow pea shrimp, and pork fried rice have been pretty good. One thing that I absolutely love is their hot and sour soup--filled with chicken, bamboo shoots, tofu, and different mushrooms (shiitake, wood ear, and fresh button), and just the right blend of hot and sour. 3. MSG--4 stars. The servers and kitchen will work with you if you are allergic. Some pre-made sauces come with MSG, but they can make almost anything fresh without MSG. I did go one time without asking for special provisions (to test out how much they use in my favorite dishes), and I only had a mild reaction. This is gold for me! 4. Portion size/value for your $$$--5 stars. As others have said, portions are huge for what you pay. In this economy, that's a big deal. 5. Convenience--4 stars. Parking can be tough during peak hours, but because there aren't too many decent Chinese places to pick from, the location bumps this up a bit. That, and I've never had to wait long for placing to-go orders. Overall, not the best food or service wise, but not bad at all. And with the value for the money spent and serious convenience factors, I think this might just become our go-to local Chinese restaurant! read more

The waitress took my order, right after she helped a person with a to go order and forgot my order, since she did not write it down. When I got the food, it was very disappointing, the food didn't have any real flavor and my order was incorrect. I won't be going back or recommending this place to anyone. Went here yesterday with family and we were pleasantly surprised. The menu is a la carte so every item is meant to be shared with the table, which their large tables are perfect for because they have giant lazy susans. 5 out of 8 of us ordered individual plates but they could easily be shared between at least two people. The a la carte plates we ordered were chicken chow mein, orange chicken, egg rolls, and egg foo young. The orange chicken was a table favorite and not at all spicy. My picky 2 year old LOVED the egg rolls. The fried rice was very nice. The chicken chow mein was massive! Our bill was $96, but mind you our table was filled with food. We left with EIGHT to-go plates filled with leftovers! If you are fond of artwork, you will love the giant cross stitch on the far left wall. It is worth a close look. read more

This place never fails, I believe it has the best Chinese food in this area. It's always fresh and hot. We called it in and it was ready to go by the time we got there. The eggrolls were a bit too greasy which we did not care for. Ok so when I walk it at 5pm there is no one seated, not a good sign. The service was hello grab a seat. Ok so the food, I got a water because it was hot outside and I felt dehydrated, the water tasted funny so maybe buy a filter. The service was quick and decently friendly so I will throw up a star for that. You can't get a cup of hot and sour soup, you have to make a full order so that sucked.
