I have been going to this place for so long... BUT, it's always a hit and miss because it's never consistent. Take a lil smell of the pork meat on top of your chow main..???? I can't recommend Curry Tomato Beef Chow Mein more highly. Intense tomato and coconut curry flavors meet with noodles, thinly sliced beef and vegetables in the perfect thick sauce texture combination to make a delicious dish. Very hearty, it hits the spot. The Sweet and Sour Lemon Chicken is nice and tart with sauce poured over chopped breaded chicken. I got it with plain noodles and fried rice. Little containers of chili oil and hot mustard were included to go. The outside of Bamboo Chopsticks may not get your attention but the friendly service, large selection, huge portions and yummy food make it worth a try. Bet keep you coming back. read more

So recently I saw a TikTok that the best Chinese spots are those rated at 3.5 stars. LOL. Why? Because the food is good but the ambiance or service isn't always the best. Well here we have a 3.5, which means the food is great! True the ambiance hadn't been updated in a while, but who needs that with great Chinese takeout? As a long time customer, service has never been an issue. I have been coming here as long as I can remember. It is across the street from my grandparents and it used to be a common place for us on weekends I stayed over with them. I've had many dishes and all have been great but my all time fave is their special plate with egg foo young. And I get light sprouts on my noodles. The gravy on the egg foo young is unbeatable. It's Thick and full of flavor. It's the best I've had in the city. I love their pan fried noodles too, and their sweet and sour pork. So many good things. Give them a try. If you want great Chinese takeout, you will love this spot. But call ahead to pickup because there's always a wait of people if you order there. read more

This restaurant used to be soo good but over the years has went down bad. The last couple of times i have ate there I have had the runs right after. I get what i usually always order for me and my family and it had never came out to over $70 . I brought my food home to eat to find a noodle with what looks like mold. I understand it's pan fried but this looks from inside of the noodle and had a greenish color to it . Who knows how much more there is in the plate. I enjoy this place, I only order 1 thing here and 1 thing only. Thai garlic chicken with noodles and rice. The noodles are not greasy and have a slight crunch, I love that. Big portions and so much flavor no other Chinese place I have gone to offer this type of dish. I've sampled the black mushroom chicken which was also very flavorful, and if you're felling really fat order a side of French fries, they're so good! Since COVID, like so many businesses, they have struggled to remain open for us. When health rules allow, they have opened and accept To Go orders while following all health criteria. So I have driven by this restaurant about a billion times while attending FCC, and today is the day i try it. Upon entering I was immediately greeted with a warm smile and sincerity (loved it). I had read several reviews on the food, but wanted the waitress's opinion on what to eat. She advised me to get either the Orange Chicken or Chop suey Shrimp over noodles. The Magnolian Beef looked really good too but ultimately I went with the Shrimp plate. No joke, within 5 minutes I had my plate in front of me; scalding HOT!! Literally out of the Wok. I had to wait a couple of minutes for it to shimmer down. I am very picky when it comes to Chinese food. Vegetables have to be thoroughly, especially broccoli. This restaurant met my taste buds expectations! Noodles were delicious, plenty of shrimp, water chestnuts, onion and broccoli. If your an L7 weenie like me be cautious with the "Hot Oil" it's like eating magma (Dr. Evil Voice, lol)! Overall very pleasant experience, great customers service and will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu. read more

Beef: 4 out of 5 stars (not a fan of texture) Chicken: 5 out of 5 stars (thinly sliced, perfectly cooked, wonderful in any sauce) Mongolian chicken/beef: 5 stars This is the first item you should try here and will likely become your favorite. It's excellently seasoned and has so many wonderful elements. Broccoli is a star. Spiciness is low/medium. Dish is a little oily but isn't a deal breaker. This has become mine and my wife's favorite dish from any Chinese place in Fresno/Clovis. Ginger chicken/beef: 4.75 stars Perfect if you like ginger. Bad if you don't like ginger. Ginger is sliced similar to sliced mushrooms. Would prefer if they were sliced into thinner strips or pieces but that doesn't impact the overall dish. Deducted .25 stars simply because it's very easy to get too much ginger in a single bite. I love ginger so it's not that big of a deal. Best ginger dish in the area. Thai garlic chicken: 4.25 stars Smells amazing. If you like garlic this is great. Flavor is great but I wish there was more crunch with the addition of a vegetable. I would recommend adding broccoli to this. It would even out the dish. Orange chicken: 4 stars Chicken cooked evenly and breaded well. Sauce is just a little too sweet for us. We aren't big fans of orange chicken in general but if you like sweeter dishes over savory ones, this may be the best place to start. Customer service: the people who work here are too nice. You can tell they care about the customer. I witnessed an extremely rude customer today (12/18/18) who ordered the wrong this and was mad about it. They remade the order without question. Customers don't deserve the people who work here. 5 stars for service. Side note: this has become our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Fresno/Clovis area. Veggies are fresh, meats are well prepared, sauces are excellent and not overbearing, noodles are great (could be crispier but maybe I should ask) and I can't speak to the quality of the rice. 5 stars warranted. Original review: Excellent ginger beef over noodles. Sauce is flavorful, ginger is plentiful, and the only additional ingredient besides ginger and beef was green onion. I don't know how long ago it was since the last time I'd eaten here. It seems to have improved dramatically since that visit. Debbie has all the sass you can handle in a restaurateur. She was very nice and had a great sense of humor. The food is what most people go out to eat for. Previous reviews pointed out the Mongolian style beef. I think we each got that while one guy got the chicken. The sauce was right, the vegetables were cooked yet crisp, and the beef was very tender. The one difference between the chicken and beef versions was the peppers. Szechuan for the chicken and jalapenos for the beef. Our group enjoyed the host and the food. This place is solid, but nothing fancy. I enjoy it because it's a straightforward spot that offers pretty big portions. As a graduate student on a budget, in the middle of a food desert, cheap and big meals just a block from my house are a big plus for me. It took me a few times of ordering, but the best bang for your buck are their lunch or dinner plates. They usually come with several different items and are much more cost-efficient than ordering each item individually (it took me awhile to figure this out). The menu is a bit confusing, and doesn't seem to include all of the dinner specials, so I'd recommend going in-person to scope out the pictured options. After you get a feel for the menu, calling in ahead of time is a good move. The service is alright, but it is quick. They aren't great about making substitutions, but I guess I can understand why. The food is pretty good, not great, but gets the job done when you're looking for a cheap, big, quick Chinese meal. If you are in the area, I'd recommend Bamboo Chopsticks. If you aren't then you can probably find better Chinese options near you. read more
