This chinese food spot was really good. If I can describe it, it tasted like the way american chinese food should taste. The rice tasted like really good fried rice. The chicken was fried fresh and golden crisp. The wonton soup broth tasted really good, and the egg roll was good, too. I enjoyed everything here. I probably wouldn't go back for anything other than the lo mein. I debated whether to give 2 or 3 stars here, since most of the food I got ended up uneaten, but there were some bright spots so I went 3. The restaurant itself is very bare bones, the customer experience is an ordering counter and some chairs to sit in while you wait. The service is very friendly, and they read my order back to me while they typed it in so there was an extra layer of confirmation that I appreciate. The price? About 2/3 of what I have been spending at other local Chinese restaurants. As such, I was really hoping the food would match the reputation for the best in the area I'd heard of. Unfortunately, that's the part that fell flat and that's almost the only part that really matters with a restaurant. Egg rolls? Plump, crispy, not over cooked or oil logged, flavorless. Boneless ribs? Tasted like they had sweet and sour sauce put on them, then cooked, so the sweet charred and the sour remained. Big chunks of juicy meat though. Teriyaki beef? More like beef kabobs, no teriyaki, just grilled meat with some onions and green pepper, so the beef tasted like green pepper. Wonton soup? Not entirely flavorless, but still more of a hunt for that element than it should be. Lots of wontons though. Crab rangoons? Chewy, thick dough, small pocket of filling. On a good note, the filling was more than just cream cheese, had an actual crab note to it. Pork fried rice had that same pork in it that the boneless ribs were, so that ruined the rice. I'll end on the high note. Beef lo mein. Awesome. Lots of noodles, beef, vegetables, balanced flavor, some ginger taste so it wasn't flat. To close, I can't really recommend anything other than that lo mein at this time. read more

The food was ok. overcooked rice but eatable I would have loved to have the hunan style that is package separate from the sauce and rice. food asked very bland even with soy sauce and the dish wasn't spicy at all, asked for extra heat. Fried chicken wings were overcook and hard wings even, dipping them in to the sauce provided still was very hard, brown cooked french fries was served. When I called in the staff screened the call before giving me the manager so, the manager automatic rude. never had the opportuntiy to speak the concern so, just deciding to leave a review and find another place. My family have been going to King Wah for over 25 years. Our orders are usually the same, including plain Lo Mein and plain yellow rice. When I order, they remember me and always asks if I miss anything that I usually order. I find their food very good and reasonably priced. Craving the superior in every way General Tsos chicken from local Golden Palace only to discover they Are recently closed for renovations, we ended up here. With low expectations, we were beyond impressed with the price of the menu items, which honestly haven't seemed to go up in price since the Dubya adminstration. Also impressive were the amount of mise en place and cooks in the kitchen, this place must be popular! And it was! The counter people were especially nice, and the food itself while not the best Chinese food, was not the worst. The steamed dumplings were adequate. The general tsos was your basic version. And the fried rice was fine. I will notice that the lunch special does not come with a soup, soda, or egg roll. Which I could not care less about, I'd rather save the few bucks off the price. The best Chinese food I have ever tasted. I am from MA and was visiting the Mohegan Sun casino and decided to try them out. The food is so fresh, tasty and they give large portions for the lunch/ dinner plates. I got the chicken egg foo young and the gravy was on the side so I could add as much as I wanted and crab rangoon was just right. My sis got the teriyaki beef that was seasoned with unions and peppers. My mother got the beef and broccoli and the broccoli was so fresh and not soggy at all! Deff will be coming back here! Yelp needs zero star button. All I ordered was steak teriyaki, with white rice. Halfway thru eating I felt my stomach drop, and stopped. I never get indigestion, gas, or heartburn. That night I got so sick. From 3am to 11am I spent in the bathroom struggling to move from puking into the toilet to, well you get the picture. I've never been sick like this before. I went in a day later to let them know their food was making me ill, the lady pandered down to me and acted like she knew no English. They do not care. This place uses child labor, and is a day care for the kids too young to work. If you did want to eat in the store, you would have to ask children working on homework to move. My family and I have been eating here for 20 years at least. We keep trying other places on occasion but always come back here. Our standard order is Fried Won Ton (12 for 1 order), Chicken Fingers (8), Chicken & Broccoli & Random Item from menu. After ordering Fried Won Tons from this place I've apparently been spoiled. I keep ordering these at other places and it's just a fried Won Ton, like a potato chip. Not so with King Wah. Their fried Won Tons are a great contrast in texture. There is a moist, tender & flavorful ground sausage & spices mixture inside and then a crunch, crispy won ton skin wrapped around it. So tasty. BTW, it comes with a side of their sweet & sour sauce (yum) but I've moved on from that to dipping them in soy sauce. The Chicken Fingers also come with the sweet and sour sauce which just makes them all the better. The pieces are about 6 inches long with a plenty of perfectly cooked moist and tender chicken surrounded by a thick batter that is moist on the inside and crisp on the outside. The Chicken & Broccoli is cooked just the way we like (This order also comes with a side of perfectly cooked rice). Chicken is of course sliced thin, about the size of a quarter to half dollar. Very tender and moist. The broccoli is tender crisp. As for the sauce. It's just sooo flavorful and complimentary to the meat and vegetable. My wife once asked what they put in the Chicken & Broccoli sauce to make it so good that we crave it. Cocaine they replied. We laughed and thought, yep, it IS pretty addicting. You pretty much can't go wrong here. BTW, they are really friendly and efficient. Figure on a bit of a wait during dinner time Thursday through Sunday. The only reason I didn't give it that one last star is because of the pork, it's just not tender enough for me. If I could only hold back half a star that would be more fair. read more

I've been coming here since I was a child. I'm now almost 33. I thought that, since I grew up on their food, I might just prefer the taste since it's pretty much the only place I went to growing up. NOPE!! As an adult I now have eaten at dozens of Chinese restaurants and can still attest to the fact that there's still the best. I have always ordered their wings, BBQ spare ribs, crab rangoon, rice, egg rolls, teriyaki, Singapore lo mein and, my favorite, the spicy beef rolls. This is my favorite American Chinese carry out in the area. Too bad they don't deliver or else this would be my exclusive spot. So when I'm not lazy I'll drive down here and order. Pretty good standard fare. I've had the fried chicken wings, General tsou chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce, and their Hunan delight as well as all their fried rice and have never been disappointed. After reading positive reviews and getting so many highly-recommended personal referrals to this place, I decided to order lunch from King Wah's. I chose the beef sticks, boneless ribs and shrimp & vegetables. Maybe my taste preference is higher than usual because I found all of this food to be completely bland. Although the beef-on-a-stick was tender, it had no flavor. I watched the person baste and turn the boneless ribs before it was sliced, many times basted and turned, resulting in my mouth watering, the ribs were not so tender and they had little flavor. Although the vegetables (in the shrimp & vegetables) were abundant and varied, still, no flavor - even though everything was sautéd in a brown sauce. The kitchen was dirty and the pictures of food above the counter were so old that they all seemed blue-ish. I sincerely don't know what the hype is all about. read more

I have been coming here for 16 years, the same folks have been working here the whole time. Getting a large chicken and rice soup when I need a cold relieving soup is a must.
