Their sign is easy to see as you drive by, but my friend did give me a heads up that their door was not obvious. You need to walk through a fence and then open a non deacript door. The artwork outside is awesome! When we walked in we received a friendly greeting and were quickly shown to our seats. We had made a reservation ahead of time and there was no delay to seat us upon our arrival. Our server was friendly and took our drink orders right away. I appreciated that they had multiple non alcoholic drinks and at a fair price. I started with the Thai Iced tea which was delicious, but I would have loved a glass 2x the size! We ordered multiple dishes to share amongst us. I did ask the server how many dishes they recommended that we order as I wasn't sure of the size. The items are brought out as they are made, so we had food being dropped off to is at random intervals. The only slight issue we experienced was when someone else tried to bring a plate of squid to our table. We let them know that we had not ordered it. They then went and talked to our server, who brought the squid back to our table. We also let them know that we had not ordered that dish. Our server did bring back our order slip and looked it over, and I believe at that point they realized that we really had not ordered that dish and just weren't rejecting it. I am not sure if it had been written wrong, communicated to the kitchen wrong, or what but we did have to state multiple times that we had not ordered it. The rest of our dishes arrived correctly. The crispy chive cakes were great, and the sticky spare ribs were AMAZING. The caramel glaze on the outside of the ribs was so good, and they were tender as well. The outside was super crispy. I would absolutely ordered these again. I would say that both of those dishes were only for 2 people. The sticky rice and jasmine rice were as to be expected, and I personally felt that the papaya salad was not as good as others I have had. The chilli noodles had an amazing broth and I would also recommend. Overall, I did enjoy our dinner but I am not sure that I would go out of my way to return. I am rounding up to 4 stars based on the sticly ribs alone, otherwise a 3.5 would be more fair. I have been hearing about Takoi for years, so maybe my epxections were too high but I was expecting a bit more.

So I thought this was a sushi place because I saw a picture online of a sushi plate and I am here…read moreto tell you it is NOT a sushi place, when you first walk in they have a photo op that is really beautiful. We had reservations and when we walked in it was quite empty but it is a very inviting environment, the music was soft and smooth and the people were nice. The menu is small but it does have some interesting menu items. It was very quiet inside, kind of awkwardly quiet and we sat next to people but the tables are quite close together, we could literally hear everything they were saying and they could hear us and we were talking in whispers. For a cocktail, I ordered the Enamorah Old Fashioned, if you are a bourbon lover then you will love this, it is a Woodford Reserve with the cherry cask taste, it was amazing! Definitely worth it. Then I ordered the Short Rib Bao Buns and Teriyaki Bourbon Chicken (got to keep the bourbon flowing). Now before I mention the food I have to say first that it isn't too often, maybe literally once every couple years that food shocks me because I have eaten every food type you can think of so there isn't too much that can intrigue me to want to try it, ok so now let's carry on with the review. So the Short Rib Bao Buns were nothing short of perfection. The pineapples gave it a phenomenal tropical taste and the bun itself was soft, chewy and buttery, the rib meat was tender, flavorful and easy to chew. I can't describe the taste you just have to try it yourself. Now let's get to this Teriyaki Bourbon Chicken. Mannnnnn, let me tell ya, there isn't foods that give me goosebumps much but this did it. It came with Collard Greens, the chicken and Mashed Potatoes and then had a an extra dribble of teriyaki sauce to mix with it. The Chicken & the Collard Greens went well together, the mashed potatoes & the Chicken went well together, the mashed potatoes & the collard greens went well together, I mean everything was top tier as you could want it. Now they do have gratuity already added but it is definitely worth the meal. This is a place you have to come and try and then wonder what you're gonna have next time when you come because it is THAT good. If I could give this 7 stars I would.

This was my first time, trying the yucky udon miso butter noodles, and it will not be my last. The noodles were so buttery and delicious and hot. You can add any kind of egg or any other toppings any kind of meat and it just increases the deliciousness of the bowl. The chicken karaage is so well seasoned and goes perfectly with all the items in the bowl. And if you don't eat chicken, the tofu karaage is just as crispy and delicious as the chicken and I do not love tofu. It was slower than I would have liked when is not as busy, but our waitress was kind and were very supportive in our food decisions. It can be very intimate inside of the place when it's busy they do have an outside patio, but it gets very hot in the summer.

I got the robata sampler: some notable standouts were: -the triggerfish jerky: thin cut and with a hint of sweetness, the fish flavor was delicate and tasty. It reminded me a little of the dried cuttlefish I ate growing up in Hawaii, but a much more refined version - chicken meatball: this was juicy, hearty, and had great flavor. The teriyaki sauce was flavorful without being too sweet - shrimps: these were expertly grilled. They were tender inside, and had a nice hint of charcoal flavor from the grilling - pork belly: this was a great cut of meat. Very decadent and rich, with lots of umami from marinating before grilling We also got some appetizers that were quite serviceable. Overall I'd give this place a 4.5 stars if I could.

My husband and I both got the birria ramen and for context we get from Habibi's Birria which is more lemony and it's what I was expecting personally. This birria ramen to both my husband and I was a 2.5/5. The ramen is on the spicier side which isn't noted anywhere (would have been fine if I had known but the menu is a bit misleading) and then the meat was on the tougher/drier side even though it's literally soaking in a soup. Tapatio's premade ramen which has Artificial Beef Flavor tastes better lol My cousin said her Mongolian beef was a 3/5. The issue is hers was veryyy salty for her which saltiness is expected but we don't want it to be that bad. Seating is "bar" only so not ideal for groups but there is outside seating if it's not cold. They were helpful in deciding what we want but as soon as we ordered the girl left and the guy who made our food disappeared so when we wanted to ask for more lime we couldn't. Anyways overall disappointing. Would not recommend or come again but it wasn't awful to the point we didn't eat our food.

They also have a couple Cajun dishes like Jambalaya as well as Chinese American dishes like General Tso Chicken. The building used to be used for a Coney Island and Supreme Black Belt kept the bullet proof glass. I kind of wish they hadn't because it just takes away from the otherwise cute aesthetic of booths, red walls and paper lanterns. You order at the counter here, there's no table service. My partner is vegetarian and I'm pretty sure he could only order two items on the menu: the plain cabbage egg rolls or the fries. He got the cabbage egg rolls. We were surprised to find that the cabbage was cooked in cinnamon. I personally didn't think the cinnamon worked or I felt like if they wanted to keep the cinnamon there should have been more salt and fat added to balance the dish out. I got the Philly Cheese Steak Egg Rolls. I loved how perfectly fried and crispy/chewy the shell was. The inside was pretty good but the steak was a little overcooked. There was a mustardy zing to the dish that I thoroughly enjoyed but I couldn't tell if it was in the egg rolls or the orange colored duck dipping sauce that was provided. All in all I wasn't absolutely blown away but I would definitely come back to try some of the other menu items.

It's little changes like that that elevate the dish beyond other regular sushi offerings. It was so appreciated! We ordered the spicy tuna roll. It had the excellent tuna and then they put yum sauce on it. That was odd because it masked the beautiful taste of the bluefin tuna, and that made it a miss for me. If you order, do yourself a favor and tell them no sauce. The dragon roll had real snow crab inside and eel and avocado on top. This also had a crunchy topping that I would tell them to hold if I did it again. It didn't really add anything to the dish and it obscurred the taste of the tender eel a bit. Not until I broke open a piece to isolate the snow crab could I truly appreciate the delicate flavor. It got a little lost inside the vibrant roll. The red dragon roll was well balanced and exactly what I was expecting. The bluefin tuna could easily shine on top of this roll. And it did. It was rich and succulent. The tigerlilly roll was lovely and topped with salmon and roe. It says on the menu it was torched. Ours was not. It was perfect the way we got it though, so I wouldn't change anything. I also ordered eel sashimi and the avocado, asparagus and cucumber roll for something refreshing. We all shared the rolls as we had drinks at the bar. Our bartender was attentive, friendly, and brought the sushi along with serving us our drinks. The lychee martini was a hit. What an interesting and slightly tart flavor! It was a light-hearted and fun time and I would go back in a heartbeat .

Service (4.75/5): Our main server was very friendly and gave us a good overview of the menu as it was our first time. They were great and attentive. We were also served by a second server who dropped off our food and disappeared so quickly that we waited a while before they walked by again. When we finally got the chance to ask for soy sauce and sauce dishes, they grabbed the soy sauce from a nearby table and left before we could even get to asking for the sauce dishes. Nothing terrible, but we did feel a little awkward. Food (4/5): Sushi was both good and not good. Of the 3 rolls we ordered, the salmon avocado and tuna avocado were solid; the proportion of fish to rice was great and the fish quality was above average from your typical sushi restaurant. However, the Tigerlily was quite disappointing, especially at $22 for the roll. The roll was torched a bit too long, cooking the salmon almost all the way, but my main gripe was a mysterious creamy sauce that was drizzled on top. The roll ended up being way too heavy and the sauce overpowered the salmon and the little bit of ikura that was sprinkled on top. On the other hand, the chicken katsu sando was really excellent. Chicken was juicy, breading was light and crispy, and the fries were well-seasoned. My only suggestion for the kitchen is to slice the sandwich vertically instead of horizontally; you can see that the bread on half of the sandwich was mostly crust/air instead of the actual bread part. Ambiance (4/5): It's got an upscale, modern feel to it that would probably make a nice environment for a date night or catching up with friends over happy hour. I was there on a Tuesday evening, so it wasn't crowded. There was music playing but it wasn't too loud, so it was easy to have a conversation.
