I ordered a large shrimp fried rice without onions from Great Wall. It was $8 and change. The rice literally consisted of rice and peas and a few shrimp. Few means about 8 shrimp for the entire LARGE shrimp fried rice. I feel as if the restaurant used their recipe for fried rice that's practically served with every entree and passed that off to me as shrimp fried rice. Adding a few shrimp made this shrimp fried rice. I've ordered shrimp fried rice many times and normally it consists of rice, egg, carrots, peas, many shrimp, and bean sprouts. This is my first Chinese restaurant since moving to Houston and I wouldn't come back. The food wasn't bad, the friend rice was plain and the broccoli was fresh but cold. The orange chicken was average but I did like the fresh orange taste. Moving onto the service. It was awful, the lady taking orders at the counter was annoyed that I didn't know what I wanted. She then asked "combo or no" and when I asked what the difference was she just pointed at the menu on the counter, but then seemed annoyed that she had to wait for me to read the difference. She did not ask if I wanted to dine in so I got to go boxes, she didn't ask if I wanted a drink and didn't give me sweet and sour for my egg roll. She was so rude I didn't even bother asking for anything I actually needed. She was not only ride to me but all the customers, another customer asked for a to go bag and she didn't look up for reading a price of paper and didn't say a word just grabbed and bag and continued to read. She doesn't greet customers, clear the tables that have dirty dishes or any other polite restaurant habits you would typically see. Very clean establishment, & restrooms. There was only one person working in the front end when we walked in and she was sweeping. We walked up to the counter looked over the menu, took us about 6 minutes, still no one at the counter/register. I turned and asked the lady sweeping if anyone was working up here, and she said that was her, as she continued to sweep. At that time I told her we were ready to order. Having to wait up to 8-9 minutes before placing our order was pretty annoying, but whatever. Received our food, neatly package. The rice wasn't soggy like most places and the veggies in our entree were crisp and really very good. Not a 3 star outside of its genre, but like I said for cheap Chinese food I like it way better than your Panda Express places. Looking a quick lunch spot close to the greenspoint area this is perfect. Not to far from greenspoint mall right off FM 1960 by Krogers. Everytime we swing by for lunch we order and the food is served up quick. The King pao chicken with fried rice and a egg roll is delicious. If you like your meat raw then this is the place. Asked them to cook it more and they microwaved it. The kitchen area has no door to confine the heat so the dining area was 80 degrees with the AC running. I would not recommend eating here but some people learn the hard way. I called in a order which was only 3 things on their menu. The lady kept having me repeat my phone number and I was being patient with her repeating it to her. I arrived 30 minutes after placing this order maybe longer and she proceeded to tell me she didn't have my phone number or order. I asked to speak with a manager but she just brought a young lady that was standing next to her to the window then still proceeded to get loud while I was speaking with the manager! (If you get a lo mein dinner combo, it does come with fried rice!) I like the chicken lo mein. The garlic chicken is decent. It is very saucy and a tad sweet. This place had a lot of foot traffic, so I naturally assumed it was going to be great. Sadly, I was disappointed. Nothing tasted bad, but also nothing really stood out as being delicious. The egg rolls tasted like they were premade frozen egg rolls just deep fried. The worst part of our meal was their house special fried rice. It tasted nothing like what any other Chinese fried rice I've ever had tastes like. It literally looked like they took plain rice and added all the meat, egg and food coloring to change the color.
