On a Saturday afternoon I used their online site to order three dishes for pickup: Beef chow fun, chicken and shrimp with mixed vegetables, and barbecue duck. I also wanted to try their wonton egg drop soup and one of the shrimp spring rolls. I'm totally impressed. I've tried beef chow fun from places all over the East Coast including New York City, and this is among the top three best beef chow fun I've ever tried. Likewise, the egg drop wonton soup was way more flavorful than many others I've had. The online ordering system was extremely easy to use. With the limited local choices for Chinese food, we don't mind coming here once in awhile. Today we had the orange chicken and pork fried rice, which was good. However, the steamed dumplings were awful. I've had the dumplings here before and they've been good. Today the wrap was doughy and thick. Yuk. Most of it went into the trash. Will remember in the future to open our food to check quality before leaving the premises. read more

Such a disappointment. We stopped buying there two years ago, but decided to give them one more try because we liked the owners. Our hopes were crushed. The Hot and Sour Soup was bland and tasted like dishwater. The Beef and Broccoli was so poorly prepared my wife threw it out after a few bites. I ordered the Moo She Shrimp. Not only was it poorly prepared, the little but I ate gave me heartburn all night. $35 down the drain! We could have had better food at Taco Bell. Never again. read more

The best Chinese in Ranson but owners do not pass charged tips to wait staff!!!!! We used to eat here frequently till we found out from more than one waitress that the owners do not allow the waitresses to have the tips that were designated on credit card charges. Everyone is friendly here and the food is great but it really bothers me to eat here knowing they would treat their wait staff so poorly. Cleanliness is not the best looking in the bathroom or dining area floor boards. Kitchen seems typical in cleanliness for an average Asian establishment. read more

I eat plenty of Chinese from several places. I am qualified to say this place is a good option. Not fancy inside but the food was good. Dumplings were the thicker wrapped variety. I prefer the Taiwanese style but the filling was good. Hunan chicken hit the spot. My son like the pork with broccoli. I would eat here again. read more

General Tso's chicken had no spice or heat at all so was disappointed. Seems to be the norm in the area! But taste was ok. Shrimp fried rice was underwhelming, tiny shrimp, not many. There are better and there are worse places within ten minutes. Tried twice but not a third time. read more

Worst Chinese food ever. Got take out, 3 combo meals. They forgot the egg rolls, extra duck sauce was 2 little containers, the fried rice was terrible, egg foo young didn't come with the gravy over it, beef and broccoli was too salty, and can't find anything nice to say about the sweet and sour chicken either. We ordered take out today to bring back to our home... we recently moved to the area and thought we would try it out... First of all the 2 stars i am giving this place are because the owners are nice and gave us some cookies.... down to the basics this is THE WORST Chinese I have ever had and has NO FLAVOR! It is horrible.. the general tsos is completely sauce less and has the flavor or a buffalo hot and that is about it and my olatter was served with pork fried rice... who serves chicken anything with pork fried rice? The crab Rangoons I got were basically all very hard shell and came with a duck sauce? maybe that was for the egg roll? not sure but there was no sweet and sour sauce or if that was supposed to be it it failed miserably... anyway $35 and some change to throw it away... my husband ordered chicken and broccoli and he said it has no flavor.... he said beef lo mein was gross and had more onions and added veggies than noodles... after 15hrs at work he ate his... he said boneless spare ribs were the best thing we got although they needed more sauce... normally with food this bad i would call and complain but honestly there is no chance this could be made better and i will never try it again no matter what was said to me so I figure there is no point in calling... anyway the owner is nice i sure hope he learns how to cook so he doesn't end up bankrupt... Well, my first review of any restaurant. Perhaps I'm desperate for excellent Chinese food in this area. I've never found it here at the Great Wall. Yes, people are friendly, but disinterested. I have never gotten a to-go order that was complete. Never. And stupid me drives home trusting that the order is correct. It wasn't. I had to drive back to get them to correct it. I make that mistake about twice a year, which is how often I go there. Plus I have never seen egg foo yong made without bean sprouts. I asked about it, and was told it means egg patties??? They used Chinese vegetables, and it was very greasy. I'm sure they don't eat their food, but they feed it to us. I'm very disappointed. All I can say is check your to-go orders before you leave the place. read more

I have ordered take-out from Great Wall several times. I like the online ordering option, and pick-up was easy. The food was delicious! I have had their combination fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, General Tso's, Egg Rolls, and all of them have been delicious for take out. I was a little disappointed that I was charged for extra sweet and sour sauce when requested, but I guess that is not too surprising. The hot and sour soup is quite good, and the singapore noodles are some of the best I've ever had. Egg rolls are decent. Most other things are quite good. They do fried rice better than China Fortune which was our regular go-to up until they had the fire. and we got some spoiled pork for Su Chen, so we wont be going there again. The orange chicken was good. I agree that the General Tso's is lacking, but if you arent going there specifically for that you should be in for a good experience. Its inexpensive and family friendly. Food comes out fast and quality control seems quite good as everything tastes fresh. It has a small eat in are that is a little tiny but rarely crouded and we've managed a family of 4 eating there with no problems twice so far. Any bigger would be challenging. Its primarily a take out place though. Having been a long term chinese food enthusiast I am quite pleased to have this option in Charles Town. They do spice it appropriately though, so if your sensitive to spice, you may want to ask for them to make it mild. read more
