Granted, we visited on a weekday, but Great Waves was a lot of fun! The big waterslides were closed but there are two separayte kid areas that are fun. The baby area -was very shallow with a waterfall and some sprays. The older kid area had two water slides, a mushroom fountain, and spays. There is a separate section that has buckets, sprays, and water play. The big wave pool is fun, but it can be hard to get a tube on the weekday-imagine the weekend?! We had fries while there and they were ok for pool fries. There is also a cool playground for when you are ready to put on shoes. I've heard it gets crowded on the weekends but I'd 100% visit again on a weekday.

Took the kiddos to the water park for some hot day fun. The line was long to get in but it moved rather quickly. Paid $44 for 3 tickets. You get a wrist band. They do check bags upon entry. Cute cabana that sells towels and sunscreen. The kids area was really cute! Slides, waterfalls, plenty of space to sit your stuff and have fun. I forgot my daughters life vest, but they had plenty to use in all sizes. Bathrooms weren't clean clean but they weren't horrible. When it was time to eat they have two options, chicken hut or Pizza Place, we had the pizza. The line was short but moved so so slow. The girl behind the counter must be new. I ordered 3 slices, got 2. Ordered 2 chips, got 1, ordered 3 water bottles and a tea. Paid 10.25 not bad but I left hungry. The kids seemed happy and I know they had fun. Next time we will try the water slides, they even have a playground area, birthday pavilions and mini golf. We loved the wave pool until my youngest scraped her foot. Lol Great time all in all. Oh and free parking lot

Such a fun family day in the summer! My kids and even my husband and I enjoyed this water park so much!! We will definitely be returning for years to come!

It's been some years since I've been here, but we had a great visit. A run down of our visit: Parking - There was an officer blocking the entrance of the lot and telling people it was full. However, we drove by 3 times and saw 2-3 spaces available. After telling the officer about the spaces, he still made us park at one of the lots a few blocks up the road. I wouldn't have minded as much, but it was ridiculously hot. Tickets - Purchased on the spot with little to no line. No frills, no thrills - $15.25 pp for non-jurisdiction, free for children 2 and under. The Pool - PACKED! Everyone had the same idea as us- hot day...find a pool! There were a ton of people there, but I didn't feel overwhelmed. That may be because we didn't go near the wave pool. Mainly stayed in the lagoon, spray park and the baby pool. All 3 areas were pretty nice with water falls and 2 slides in the lagoon. My baby had a great time and he truly enjoyed all 3 of these areas. I wish the lifeguards corrected some of the little kids a little more though. This one kid ran past us at least 5 or 6 times in the pool...I mean RUNNING; splashing and tripping over us. He needed to be told to walk or have a seat. Other than that, we loved the pools and the next time we go, I'll be sure to bring some water toys for my son to use in the baby pool. I didn't think they were allowed. Food - Okay. Not super expensive, but not amazing. Typical "fun day out" junk. My snow cone left much to be desired...don't get it.

Unprofessional and dismissive Staff. The path in the park was not suitable to walk barefoot.

There was a diverse crowd (of families vs couples), five decent size slides, a awesome wave pool, and a playground for my youngest.

So when I saw the updates I was surprised, totally blown away, in a good way. Sidenote: I recall Amazon announced they were coming many years prior. There were city council meetings, upset residents, business proposals, lots of conversation and locals were not happy about it. People were concerned the value of property would get forced up and the cost to living there would increase significantly thus making it not affordable for locals. I am not sure how all that settled since the re-development. When the construction began, I was just upset they were destroying the Water Park. Watching building get torn down is weird. Tearing things down and soooo much construction. Sooooo, although I don't live there nor work there any longer, I am pleased with what they did with the Water Park. It seems like they kept the integrity, yet enhanced it to bring it up to speed with a more modern feel and a great place to gather. They have made such a good use of space. There are mini-restautants lining the entire park. It's also equipped with full restaurants, bar, a real DJ and public restrooms. Still a great point to meet for a bite, hang out, relax and be with nature. The new set-up is a whole vibe. They even incorporated the theme of the VRE trains into the landscape. Each food stall is like a mini-train. They did really well with the new look and set-up. Parking still free after 4pm and on weekends. Thank goodness for that. They better keep it that way and not get greedy! It's been that way so keep it that way. So many people use the Mt Vernon Trail and this is a major artery to access it.

Review of water park only:…read more Don't buy for the whole family. We made the mistake of buying for a family of 4, but only small kids would enjoy this. Could have saved half the cost by just buying for 2 kids. You definitely don't need more than an hour either. It's really loud, so it's not great for autistic or sensory sensitive kids. My kids don't enjoy water directly in their face, and there's nowhere to go that doesn't have water landing directly in your face. There's nowhere for adults to sit, and it's a small room so there's residual splashing everywhere; wear pool shoes even if you don't go on the play structure and are just supervising the kids. During the 5-minute breaks once per hour, it would be nice if you could use the adjacent pool I but it was occupied with aquatic sports teams. Staff were very friendly, and the overall sports/rec facility looks huge and very clean. Locker rooms were very clean as well. For our family, however, it just wasn't worth the price paid nor was it the type of water park that would work for older kids or autistic kids.

We had a blast at the bounce house and the ninja maze. There is a rock climbing wall and some advanced obstacle course for older kids. I used yelp to find another Waterpark close by and this is how we ended up here. When called before we arrived to this location to make sure that they were not filled to capacity and they were not. We didn't know the rules and regulations or what to expect. When we arrived at the counter our group consisted of 3 kids and two adults. To enter it was less than $60. Admission was a breeze. The adults entered the restrooms to change into swimwear. The children were already prepared. We were actually able to locate 5 chairs in a nicely shaded area. Now let me tell you, this is not the place for you if you are looking to go swimming. This place has a lazy river so this is a highlight for a lazy river lover like me. We had two 7 year old and a 10 year old. They could either use a tube for the lazy river or go to the center to play in the water . This place was small enough and kid friendly enough to allow the children to play while the adults were in the lazy river with the kids or just relaxing on the side in the sun. Our party of 5 truly had a blast. The only downfall of our experience was that we didn't know that you were either allowed to bring your food and drink or you could have something delivered. There is nothing on site available to purchase. Not even water. Next time we will be better prepared. It definitely didn't take any enjoyment away from our visit.

We did a round of mini golf, which was nice. The course is mostly well maintained, though one of the holes near the end could use some work since it is a giant pit, with some cobblestone rocks acting as steps that lead down to the hole. It was a little difficult to maneuver, and I just ended up having to get one of my younger brothers to get my ball for me. Most of the holes were well down and the place had a nice grass and water feature aesthetic. Definitely something we wanted in the city. We then admired the obstacle course because it looked awesome. Climbing across surfboards dangling in the sky, bright colors. It looked awesome. We opted not to try it out this time though. We then went for a little walk on a trail. They aren't very well marked, the signs look like someone keeps knocking them down, and all of the trails sort of overlap and are visible from the others since it is literally just a little acre-ish area in the middle of the city. There was also an overflowing trash can that smelled awful, next to someone's abandoned lawn chair on the trail, but nothing a quick cleanup of the area can't fix. It is rather warm being down in a sort of gully, so I would love to see it again when all the trees are green, hopefully that would provide some nice shade. We then went to the playground and it was really nice and well-maintained, and I had to use the restroom which was IMMACULATE. This was by far the nicest playground bathroom I have ever been in, and nicer than most store and restaurant restrooms I have been in. There is also a waterpark that wasn't open yet for the season, and a large blue building that serves as the entrance to the water park, and I do wish that it had a large sign that said something to the effect of "Restrooms are in here, even when the waterpark isn't open" since we were trying to find a restroom for my 5 year old nephew after we had left the playground bathroom, and assumed that the swim building was closed, so we ran him across the parking lot to the obstacle course building assuming it would be in there, and were a little worried when we had to run him across the street when we learned it was in the blue swim building. Overall, this was a really lovely and completely unexpected outing in the middle of a crowded city. This will very likely be on our itinerary next time we have to kill time in DC.
