I was excited to visit the motor lodge, and had heard great things from friends who had stayed here in the past. I was pleasantly surprised at how incredibly well-kept and clean the place was, and how inviting the staff was. I stayed in the Pee Wee Airstream, and it was clean, spacious for one person, and so comfortable. I felt completely safe and cozy, and despite their being a shared bathroom for all of the Airstreams, it was never inconvenient during my stay. I didn't have my dog for this trip, but am hoping to make another trip down there with her and would love to stay here again!

She said that they offer fans to the guests and quickly grabbed a box fan for me. She even offered to carry it to my room for me since I had a dog with me. They are SOOOO dog friendly and she gave some lovin's to my dog right away and offered some treats. Bed is comfortable and toiletries are great. The dispensable kind so you don't have to worry about little bottles everywhere. I would stay here again 100% and I haven't even gotten to sleep yet. I'm sure the rest of my stay will be great!! Top notch!!

BLUF: friendly staff, but heat, water, and breakfast mediocre…read more Stayed 3 nights. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff was always friendly. If you want your room to be serviced make sure you ask for it because they only service rooms upon demand. The breakfast is passable, but minimal. There will always be some sort of egg, some sort of sausage, and some sort of potato. Along with that the usual bread and bagels to toast, juices, yogurt, cold cereals, waffle maker. Biggest complaints have to do with the room water and heating / Cooling. The water pressure was good, but sometimes he would turn the water on and get scalding water for one minute and then get nothing but lukewarm water the entire rest of your shower. There really was no consistency and even if you did get the temperature just right it would probably change within a minute or two. Ended up taking a lot of warm showers not hot showers. The other issue has to do with the heating and cooling in the rooms. They are still using the kind of old style console Heating and Cooling system, and you have to actually choose whether to heat or cool so if you're in that weird window where sometimes you need to heat up sometimes you need to cool you have to manually do it. And even when you do set it it's very questionable as to whether the thermostat is accurate and whether you'll ever actually achieve the temperature you set.

Whizzing by on US 50, it looks like a run of the mill old motel. Nope. Rooms have been renovated. Ours was clean and looked nice inside. What we liked: Full size fridge/freezer Hot tub: It's reserve-in-advance by room in 30 minute blocks. No smelly tweakers, couples making out, or loud kids to kill the buzz (and enough chemicals to kill all germs). Our roomy shower had thick glass doors, preferable to a curtain. The self-operated pancake machine in the breakfast area was a fave of our kiddos, who could watch the pancake on a conveyor belt. Just ok: Breakfast was hit or miss. Biscuits/gravy were my fave. Pancakes did the trick. Coffee was fine. However, my scrambled egg discs were cold and the sausage patty tasted too weird to eat. Fruit, milk, OJ, and standard Continental fare were included, too. Bonus: The recent model smart tv was loaded with apps, but you have to login with your own credentials. People forgot to log out of Disney, Prime, and Netflix. While we have each of these, it's nice to have access if you don't already have them. The Salida Aquatic Center sits across the road if you want some hot spring-fed waters. Overall, Silver Ridge combines nicer-than-expected accommodations at a lower price than nearby chains while maintaining the intimate feel and personal touch of a local business. All of the animals are well taken care of and added to the overall wonderful experience. The hosts are very friendly and offered a delicious breakfast. There is also a well-marked trail on the property, for those who wish to commune with nature. Cheesemaking classes are also available. We purchased some of the goat milk lotion, it's made on site (I believe). Wonderful product for the dry Colorado air. I would definitely recommend!

I don't know what the other reviewers are seeing when they say it's not clean, but this was not remotely our experience. And I promise, I am pretty picky, judgmental, and unforgiving about dirty establishments. Rooms were right about the size you expect for a motel. Not huge, but not cramped, by any means. I expected cheap finishes and supplies, but everything felt high quality and well appointed. Thick, soft towels; comfortable, medium-firm beds; good quality linens. Okay, the shower was a prefab shower kit, and not tiles. There's ya the one weakness I could spot. But the water was hot and the pressure was good so do with that what you will. We enjoyed a family dinner at the picnic tables with a nice mountain view, followed by a relaxing evening by the fire pit. Front desk staff, both on arrival and the next morning, were friendly and accomodating. Continental breakfast was super convenient, if not extensive, but it was a freebie on a very good room rate, so anyone should be ashamed if they complain about this. Who doesn't like toast, anyway? I cannot stress enough how surprised I was that a motel that not only welcomes--but actively celebrates!-- all things dog-related, could be this clean, quiet, and orderly. We chose the Comfort Inn which was the least dumpy place and one of the more expensive. It was OKAY, with a decent breakfast, somewhat dated but clean rooms, indoor pool (we didn't use) and the most peculiar layout, the ONLY elevator is at the OPPOSITE end of the quite long building from the Reception/Check-in desk and breakfast area. Salida itself is an absolutely lovely town.
