There are only two Chinese restaurants in town. This ain't the better one. The counter person is nice and they are fast and get the food to you quickly but the place is just a dive. The food is very greasy. The fried chicken wings looked and tasted like they had been sitting around for days. Bathe egg foo young was greasy and had other no taste to it. They seem to have steady customers so folks like the food. I was so disappointed in those wings. I literally threw the food out. I once ate a meal at the restaurant and when I asked them to cook my shrimp more thoroughly they seemed to take offense to it. It isn't very comfy eating there on paper plates, not so clean trays and plastic forks and spoons. So I ordered take out. They did make my food to order with no soy sauce and no salt.' Despite the negative ratings, I still decided to give this place a chance because it is only a few minutes away from me and often local Chinese restaurants have negative ratings but are still delicious. Heed the warnings on this one. This place was great and I would recommend it. We ordered A lot of different dishes to take away and it was done in 15 minutes. The lady was very nice and gave us a lot of different sauces to try because we weren't sure what sauces we want it. The food is warm, really enjoyable, fresh and it was a lot of food for such a low cost. If I wasn't a Tourist, I would definitely go back. If I am ever in New Jersey I will definitely go eat there again. I cannot say enough times, how friendly just staff was. The was very very great. I would definitely recommend going there!! Went there on a friday afternoon with my kids for lunch after school. Ordered Chicken lo mein and schezwan chicken with rice from their lunch special. The lo mein was pretty good and standard for chinese take out, when it came to the schezwan chicken I was repulsed to see the chicken coated in thick coating of corn starch and when I dug inside,just found disgusting chicken fat and skin. I thought may be the next one might have "chicken", but same. Out of the 8 pieces in the container I tore up 4 to see "chicken", but all I found was chicken fat, skin and trimmings, I didn't even care to check the other 4 pieces . Now tried to concentrate on the veggies in the schezwan chicken as we were supper hungry and was disgusted to find mold in the baby corn, check out in the photo attached. I went to the owner, he told me it was nothing and the chicken has no fat but corn flour. Why would you serve corn flour dumplings in schezwan chicken without the chicken????!!!! Just a cover up!!! I guess they do it so to compensate the cost of "lunch specials". Have been to China , ate local food and found out that what they serve here in the USA is nothing like it is there. When ordering from a place like this I don't have high expectations... but there are some things that I will not accept. Whenever I call to place an order (I've ordered at least 3 times) it's like they're rushing you off the phone. They ask for my address, I start giving it, and before I can give the apartment number, they hang up!! I call back, and they act like I'm inconveniencing them!!! The food is mediocre at best. Its edible, but definitely not anything I would recommend toi others. Fried foods (egg rollls, fried wonton) are over-fried. Meat skewers are tough (how do you ruin teriyaki chicken???!!?). Most places like this throw in a free soda or something when you place a decent sized order, this place charges for an extra bag of fried noodles!!! I occasionally order only as a last resort, definitely never a first choice. read more

This place is awesome! They have the best boneless ribs in town (lots of meat and very little fatty pieces compared to other places) and the portions are a good size for the combo meals. Delivery is fast, and pick-up time is usually just 10 minutes. My mom loves spicy food and they say the general tso is great!!! Nothing Great Going On Here. I can't walk into Great Wok without being reminded of the scene from "From Dusk til Dawn" where George Clooney walks into the roadside motel seeking a room for a few hours (before kidnapping Harvey Keitel's family). He has to bang the hell out of the bell before a miserable old man comes out and says "what the hell do you want?!?" That is kinda my experience when ordering from Great Wok. I walk in and behind the counter is the most miserable looking employee ever. He never smells, he never has anything pleasant to say. He just stands there like a prison warden and his greeting never changes "wha you wan?". It's always the same guy and he has seen me a bunch of times. You think he'd say "hey, welcome back" or "nice seeing you again" or at least SMILE. But no. Never. The only thing I order from here is Chicken Wings with fried rice or Half a Chicken with fried rice. After all, this is a hole in the wall and that's what you order from hole in the wall chinese spots. I'm from Brooklyn, so the idea of eating chicken wings and fried rice without ketchup and hot sauce smothered over everything is foreign to me. However whenever I ask them for hot sauce and ketchup they look at me like I just asked them to cook me a Hot Dog. It's HOT SAUCE AND KETCHUP! Stop acting like you are some fancy Chinese restaurant. You are a ghetto chinese take out spot that just happens to be located in Secaucus. Let's not get it twisted. I'm not your only black customer. I am disappointed in Yelp for not letting me rate them zero stars. That's not the point though, the rice was crunchy. It was as if they poured water over uncooked rice and served it to me. The menu's words were very small and it was confusing. The chicken tasted burnt but was obviously under cooked. It was creamy, but not in the good way, the texture reminded me of mochi. The floor was filthsome, crunchy leaves everywhere despite it not being autumn. The guy at the counter handed me a Coca Cola when I asked for a Sprite and refused to fix his mistake when I complained. There were flies buzzing around, giving the atmosphere the feel of a barn. Also, before I went to the resturaunt, I looked at the yelp reviews, and the pictures said it all, but obviously, it was the closest thing to my home, so I decided to give it a shot. Thought it would be a good idea, right? WRONG. When I asked if they had a restroom that I could use, he ignored me. When I made sure he clearly heard me, he told me that I couldn't use it but later, I saw a man walking out of a room and I glanced behind him and saw a toilet and a sink. That wasn't the worst of it, when I told him what I saw, he said "Fine." and let me go. When I get in there, the toilet is overflowing and the content is a greenish brown color. There were empty Febreeze cans all over the floor and there were holes in the walls where I could see broken pipes and mold. There was no toilet paper, so I had to use the tissues that I so conveniently had in my bag. The sink flowed rusty water and it was scalding. The counter that you order at was very high, I had stand on my toes to reach it, so did my brother who was 14 at the time. The reciept we received was crumpled and oily. There was a mop in the middle of the floor, explaining the drenched tiles. I slipped numerous times, none of the employees noticed or cared. This is your typical carry out Chinese restaurant in every way. They have a giant menu with unlimited options, so its hard to not find something you like. I definitely recommend picking up from here rather than getting delivery. We made that mistake and waited over an hour for our food when they said it would be 30 minutes, to then find out they forgot part of our order. We have ordered the soup, which is great for its price, I love the wonton with egg drop soup because its the best of both worlds. My finace typically orders the general tsao chicken and the portions are extremely generous. He can easily stretch this into two meals and be satisfied both times. I have gotten the egg foo young and it was just how I remembered from my childhood. I absolutely love moo shu and have not seen it many places so of course I ordered it from here and it was pretty darn good. My new obsession is this dish called mai fun, I am not sure how to describe it other than its not swimming in sauce. The portions here are extremely generous and they are super fast at making the food. I wouldn't say they are the friendliest people, but the food is pretty good and worth it in. Food quality is back!!!!! I've ordered about 5 times in a row and had some of the best food I've had in years...It's still the best General Tso's chicken I've ever had. For awhile it was too soggy, now it's AWESOME again! The man who delivers is one of the nicest men I know. Think about this....you go into a French or Italian restaurant you are going to pay quadruple for a meal, why? Is there more preparation? More than a few people here have commented on the unpleasant and rude staff. That doesn't bother me. It's a Chinese takeout place. Rude and unpleasant is okay, so long as you 1) get my order correctly, 2) don't poison me and 3) don't blow smoke up my a-s about the delivery time. I've ordered from Great Wok three times in the past year. They haven't poisoned me (the food is okay), but they've gotten my order wrong twice and took more than twice as long as promised to deliver the order each and every time. I've been going to Great Wok *(used to be great wall) regularly for many years now. I may have ordered the general Tso's Chicken over 100 times, it's that good. Amazing boneless spare ribs and fried/steamed dumplings. Their menu is huge and everything is made fresh and quickly. Best Chinese food in Secaucus. Service is lacking however, and it's not a great place to dine in. Call your order in and pick up, or do delivery. read more
