This foodie is blessed to be able to travel every week of the year. One of the multiple and beautiful benefits of Yelp is the milli second find anything anywhere feature. After a whirlwind 97 hour, 8568 mile round trip with a seven hour time difference, I did just that in the immediate area around Teterboro airport in New Jersey just west of Manhattan. Felt like Chinese and did I HIT the HUGE jackpot with HOP HING kitchen at 29, Park Ave, Rutherford, NJ 07070. This catchy name is fitting for this cosy little restaurant with: 1) The most lovely and loving family that owns HH and greets you, addresses you, prepares and packages the amazing food with precision and passion. As I waited for my to go order, I loved the interaction between the husband and wife owners and their teenage kids. Lot of love and loads of joking around and having fun. 2) The food - seriously good, tasty, fresh! Got 3 lunch specials( mixed veggies with xtra garlic sauce, no baby corn, gorgeous egg roll) and a large veggie lo mein. Exquisite! Yummy! Addicting. Very generous lunch portions. 3) a spotless restaurant. 4) perfect packaging. 5) regulars who come in and recommend other dishes - gentleman loved his Wonton soup. I ate over 2 hours ago. Will charge you for using credit card and won't tell you. Picked up small lime in with egg roll. Prices have soared to restaurant level. They're just a dirty, no seat , broken menu board sign on the wall restaurant. The type you picture in a bad neighborhood with bulletproof glass covering the kitchen. Egg roll was half the size of a typical one. When I've tried the ribs in the past they were also pretty bad. Lo Mein was ok. The fact that they charged me 1.50 to use a credit card on a small $8 lunch just pissed me off. I could tell the way she almost asked to charge me $10 she was hiding something. Sneaky. read more

Original owner isn't there any more . Food is not fresh and authentic tasting! Hop Hung was known for its amazing HOT & Sour Soup. Now it's not worth it and neither is their Wonton Soup! The food and service here are incredible! The staff is always super nice and very accommodating. Service is always quick and the food always tastes fresh. Looks like your average hole in the wall takeout place, but my family was passing through town and craving Chinese food so we decided to try it out. We ordered the boneless ribs, white meat general tso's, pork fried rice (they don't skimp on the pork), and lo mein and egg rolls for the kids. It was very good, food wasn't too dry like a lot of other places and it came out pretty quick. Hungry wife and kids approved! The food was good. Took a little bit to be delivered, but I was happy it was received warm. We ordered the barbecue spare ribs which I'm normally not huge for, but these were better than most; less fatty. Then we ordered egg rolls, steamed dumplings, general tso chicken, pork fried rice, beef with broccoli, and sodas. Enjoyed it all One let down is that we ordered $45 worth of food, and not one free item. Most Chinese places in my area will give you something or another depending on the $ you are spending. Difficult to find decent Chinese in this area but this place is good.

For pickup I ordered Beef Chow Mein (that came with rice and noodles), when arrived at home no noodles where found, the beef was more onions and celery than beef . Also, I ordered Sweet and Sour chicken with vegetable fried rice, the rice was no so good . Very disappointed. read more

Really good flavors for the traditional chicken and broccoli with pork fried rice...didn't need to add any extra sauces to flavor it up. Veggies were fresh...only grip is I did have a piece of chicken that was super chewy. Delivery was pretty quick....but I did order on a Thursday after the dinner rush. read more

Service was good but the food tastes really bad. I ordered General Tso's chicken and it tasted like they poured a cup of sugar onto my dish. Their mu-shu pork is okay. I notice that there aren't any Chinese customers here and I'm suspicious that Chinese people don't eat food cooked this way. The sauces were overly thick (too much cornstarch) and flavors overly sugary. But maybe the students or their customer base enjoys food cooked like this so they cook it this way. I wonder if the cook eats his/her own food. I'm surprised they are still in business. read more

This is honestly hands down the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. I'm a regular here and I go here at least once a week. Not only are the owners great people but the restaurant is amazing. Food is okay, but the one star is due to an incident happened few days ago! My wife ordered food for delivery and before ordering she asked they lady on the phone if she can pay with a credit card and she said yes and asked for the order, she then hung up before taking the card info to pay. The delivery guy came with the food and he had no idea about me paying with a card and asked me to call the restaurant, my wife did and she got the same lady who took the order and when she realized she did a mistake by not taking the card info, she handed the phone to another lady I believe the owner, and here was the surprise, she was absolutely rude and she didn't want to to even listen, at the end she took the card and hung up in my wife's face without even saying a word! My favorite things about this place: 1) Quick delivery without a minimum (they just charge $1 extra if under $10) 2) The food always arrives hot 3) The General Tso's chicken is fantastic.
