I've really gotten back into Mediterranean food and gyros lately, but it had been a long time since I'd been to GrecianGyro. I used to really enjoy it -- and this recent visit reminded me why. Out of all the gyros I've tried recently, this one easily ranks at the top. The pita was soft, fluffy, and full of flavor. The meat had that perfect balance -- slightly crispy on the edges with just the right blend of spices. It almost tastes like they make their own gyro cones in-house. I don't know if that's actually the case, but it's some of the best gyro meat I've had anywhere, even compared to some of the bigger, more well-known spots. Their tzatziki might honestly be the best I've ever had. It's rich, incredibly flavorful, and has a smooth, almost luxurious texture. There's something about it -- maybe a little extra fat or just a perfect balance in the recipe -- that makes it especially succulent. I also ordered a small Greek salad, and every component tasted fresh and high quality. The lettuce was crisp, the olives tasted like they were naturally salt-brined rather than treated, the peppers had a great crunch, and the Greek dressing had that bright, acidic, herbaceous flavor that ties everything together beautifully. The employee working that day was also extremely kind. She thanked me for my patience and even apologized for the wait -- though I think I had only been seated for about six minutes. It wasn't long at all, but the hospitality stood out. Overall, I still haven't found a place in Atlanta that tops Grecian Gyro. We met a friend here while traveling through Atlanta. They allow dogs on their patio so we were able to have our dog with us. They were very nice and friendly. Their tea- both sweet and unsweetened was fresh brewed. I got the chicken gyro wrap and my husband got the falafel one. Both were DELICIOUS! If you go here, you have to get the potatoes. This was my first visit ever and the gentleman taking my order was super helpful. He suggested the potatoes and even let me try one. Another employee said, "you always get them with the potatoes." She was right. Those potatoes were so good. I would go back to get the potatoes alone. My sandwich was tasty; perfectly seasoned and the meat was tender. The potatoes made the meal though. When you walk in you are closer to the end of the line, so you have to redirect to the front to place your order. There is plenty of parking in the lot, but you MUST register your car to avoid being booted. The restaurant was clean and there is a lot of seating. I'd definitely come back again. read more

My husband suggested we have Grecian gyro for dinner a couple nights ago and I was so excited. I think this was our third visit in the last two months but I mean if you find a place with good food and good service, why not go back? I placed the order online which was super easy and loved the fact that as soon as I walked in, the order was ready and I could tell the food was going to be delicious because it was warm and smelled so good. I let the person at the register know I was picking up an order and was promptly handed my bag within all of two minutes. Food was good. Freshly prepared. Hubs had a gyro platter and I got felafel. He loved the flavor of the gyro. The felafel were good, but I wish they'd had more herbal flavor. Staff was friendly and efficient. Two gripes: 1. I am not sure what's going on with the parking situation but the lot wants you to register your car to park there, even if you're just running in for takeout, as we were. 2. I'm getting sick of being asked to tip in situations like this. Are these workers not paid a living wage? I walked to the counter, ordered, and took my food to my car myself. I was over the Northside area today and decided to stop by Grecian Gyro for lunch. I am so happy I did! This location sits in the shopping plaza on Northside near the I-75 exit, which is ideal as it offers ample parking. Upon walking in the gentlemen behind the counter provided a warm "Welcome In" and the young lady at the cash register greeted me with a huge smile and a service friendly, "what can I get for you today." As this was my first time in, I asked her her opinion, which she discussed a few different options with me before helping me deide on the Chicken Grecian Plate, Open-faced with salad, potatoes, and grilled pita bread. Yummmmm! One word came to mind upon opening the plate, FRESH! From the salad,to the pita bread, to the perfectly browned potatoes, this mean was eye pleasing to a degree of making my mouth water. LoL! I decided to do individual taste test before building my pita. The chicken was nicely grilled, moist bites which were slightly seasoned, just enough to pair well with the sauce. The pita was warm and soft and was great all by itself. LoL! The salad was super fresh, crunchy, and a great pairing as a side or for fixings for the wrap. The potatoes put you in the mind of a saueed potato without the onions. The have a slight crispness to the outside which nicely compliments the soft inside. They have a blend of seasonings that are amazinggggg and leave you guessing as to what the actua blend is. Lastly, to aid my sweet tooth I decided on the chocolate cookie. Oh my! The cookie was crunchy around the edges and soft in the center. The gooey chocolate chips were semi-sweet and provided a chocolate fix without overpowering the cookie. I'm glad I nly brought one because ifthere was more than one, it would have been gone too. LoL! Overall, this was a great experience and a great meal. Great casual spot with friendly service. Looks like it could have been a Chipotle in another life based on the interior. When we went, their ice cream machine was down unfortunately and they were out of beef. We ordered the gyro plate, gyro wrap, and a baklava. All were satisfying! The gyro meat was tender and well seasoned..almost too well as it was a bit salty fornmy taste. But the pita was soft and chewy and their house sauce is a perfect complement to the entrees. The good menu items: nice crunchy falafel; warm pita; potatoes are crispy (roasted and thin cut more like hash browns - do not expect lemon potatoes); gyro meat wasn't dry The not so good menu items: gyro meat is VERY salty; they don't have tzatziki sauce (it's some kind of Cesar I think? So if you can't eat anchovy, I'd check with the staff!); gyro is small and all meat- they should really get larger pitas and just add tomato and onions; the salad is all iceberg, hardly any cucumber or tomato; the salad dressing isn't Greek; the baklava has to be store bought - it was stale and tasted only of corn syrup I might come back to try the ice cream or for more falafel. read more
