I've been coming to the Shake shack ever since they opened years ago and I have to say when they first open it was really incredible. However, now anytime I go there the lines are ridiculous. There are no cues or ropes for the lines, etc. so people get very confused and you can see it and hear it when everyone everyone's asking each other are you in line or which line are you here for. I will also say that over the years as a service here has definitely remained friendly at the cashier front however, it has gotten shorter and more curt. This place is always bustling and always busy so I understand why perhaps the employees here seem a little frazzled so maybe they need to hire more people or maybe they need a bigger space or maybe corporate needs to give them more payroll so they can hire more people. Quality of food here still remains really good really fast and consistent however, I will say again just the overall experience gets diminished by the crowds, the lines, the lack of organization, etc. read more

I did not know that Shake Shack originated from a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park, NY. For some reason I thought maybe it came from the beaches in CA. From humble beginnings to over 400 locations globally. The burgers are tasty, prepared to order, 100 percent beef. I ordered the Shack Burger at the kiosk, the crinkle cut fries, and a small Diet Coke. I was outraged that a small diet cost $3.19. However I saw a Yelper in NY paid $3.79. Ok then. What can I say, the burgers are a class above other fast food chains and they have as their mission to Stand for Something Good. I don't mind a little gouging on my soda then. This location can get pretty busy and the wait for your order can be a little long, although they do text you when it's ready. The outdoor tables are nice in the summer. read more

To Start the food is extremely expensive. While the drinks were a dollar, to get a burger or nuggets and fries for four, and two milkshakes it cost 90 bucks. However, we knew that going in I had insisted on shake shack due to their previous deliciousness of their burgers. However, this time it was very sad. When the phone buzzed that our order was ready, it wasn't. Took extra time. There was no one wiping tables in the 45 minutes we were here. Food: Really expensive for what they give you. The burgers are small. The root beer float was like ordering root beer for $7 and like a spoonful of vanilla soft serve that melted into it. I can't believe we spent $90 for 5 shakes that tasted like vanilla pudding and literally the consistency of pudding, and small McDonald's size kids burgers. Very disappointing. The taste on the burgers was okay. I'd give 3 stars. The chicken pieces are 4 stars. Another update! During tonight's Monday Night Car Show, I decided to stop in for an order of fries. Since the last time I was here, they eliminated a person at the order counter and have replaced them with a self-service order screen. It's definitely more efficient and sped the process. That's where the speediness ended. "By all means, move at a glacial pace!" applied to the people preparing food for my crinkle-cut fry order that took 15 minutes to send out. And so much for thinking that the fries were made to order--they were lukewarm when I picked them up. Maybe the restaurant was busy you ask? No! During the time I waited for my order of fries, only two other orders were called out. Good thing that the food they serve at this Shake Shack is relatively tasty (lukewarm fries aside), because no one is lining for their terrible service. read more

Price is definitely on the high side compared to say in n out but it is superior although not worth double the price. The Smell of beef is really good, I prefer the lettuce, onion, tomato and ketchup add ons. The chicken sandwich is not quite on par with Chick Fila's, also, a couple of you noted that the cheese was not properly melted on the chicken sandwiches. FYI, I'd skip the bourbon sauce, it was a bit over powering for me. It's a nice, convenient location, they're always busy, with responsive mgmt. and employees. I was walking around the mall and got a crazing fit a burger. Shake shack to the rescue! I love the use of kiosks for ordering- the process was smooth and easy. The wait time for my food wasn't too bad. The restaurant was loud, but it was dinner time and a pretty hot spot in the mall. read more

This is only my second time in life having SS and it's some serious hype! The food is good but I do feel like the portions you get will leave you feeling hungry again in a very short amount of time; at least for their burgers. I have yet to try their chicken but while I was waiting in line on a Sunday afternoon (took 45-1 hr to get) I noticed someone eating what looked to be a pretty thick lookin chicken sandwich. Then again, things do look different from a far. I digress- Steep prices. Good quality food but relatively smaller portions. My puzu pomegranate lemonade cost 6/7.00 and wasn't filled to the top(picture below) I was so over the wait so I stopped myself from being a Karen but I thought about it. Ok, Shake Shack. I like you a lot. You're my choice of food when I go to Westfield Old Orchard mall. But what happened to your cheese sauce? That's the one thing I look forward to when I have your burger. Your perfect crinkle cut fries with THE cheese sauce. It's so famous that there's a recipe out there to try and make it at home. (That's too much work for me so I'd rather go and have the real one.) My last one was really disappointing in July. It was so water down. We, my other cheese sauce lover, threw the sauce away, and we'd never do that, cuz we love your sauce. It was that bad. We ordered for online pickup and ate at nearby tables of the mall (not belonging to Shake Shack). Online order was rather easy, but I've also used this service in the past at the Wrigleyville location. I love that they message me when food is ready so I don't have to linger around waiting in front of the restaurant, looking like a hangry toddler. I've mentioned in other reviews of different restaurants that take a different approach to mark tables that are good for dining or blocked for social distancing. Welp, Shake Shack has used bright green tapes to mark where not to sit. A step up from yellow "caution" tape or painter's blue tape, because they're using their signature color-- a bright green color. I'd not want to sit at a booth next to where there's tape all around because the way they taped it, is like a crime scene style with X over the tables! No wonder no one was inside. Just kidding, it was also a beautiful day outside so I'm sure everyone would rather sit outdoor instead. I still love you, Shake Shack, and I heart your burger & fries. But just a little feedback from me regarding your green tape. Dining in is supposed to be pleasurable but you walk in and tell me if you want to eat inside. So my other half helped a friend move and they were given a $50 gift card for the shake shack so we decided to go and check it out and I've never been my partner had it before but it was my 1st time Menu's good foods pretty good Burger was wonderful the cheese they put on the fries I would skip that I don't think it was that good and the bacon was way under cooked I don't like pink bacon so I'd skip that too if you're getting fries I would have given them 5 stars but it cost almost $50 for 2 of us to eat and we didn't even get any alcohol that's insane fast food costs and $50 for 2 people just 2 burgers fries and drinks nothing fancy nothing really extra except for cheese and bacon on my fries Doubt I'll go back anytime soon read more

Food is okay. The cheese for the cheese fries was a bit bland. The burger was not terrible, but wasn't great. Chicken bites also bland and breading was too much. Aesthetically looks pleasing, taste a little disappointing. I feel it's a little overpriced for what you get. Service was terrible. The man at the counter input our telephone number incorrectly for our order so we did not receive the text that our food was ready. We went in after a long wait to ask about our order. We forgot fries initially so we placed a separate order which was an additional wait. With this separate order, I waited to get someone's attention to inquire about it. There were 3 employees hovering around orders to go, they would look at me but then turn back around to one another and talk. They would avoid looking at any customers and just stand there talking. I finally got the attention of one employee and he went over to the group of 3 employees standing around. One of them walked over the order and held their arm out but stared in the opposite direction. It was the most frustrating experience. We do not recommend this place. Was good quality beef wasn't the typical humingus burgers but was good. I ordered some Kevin sera blend wine and it came in a can but was surprisingly good. If you're chillin' at the Old Orchard Mall, you'll want to stop by here! I didn't know what to expect when I came here but they had a very cool and hip vibe with their oversized Jenga and"bags" game. I got 2 things and I was really impressed! Black Sesame shake (Just like in Japan! - as they say) - wonderful sesame taste and if you didn't know better, you might think it was oreo. I couldn't finish more than half, but it was delicious the next day in the morning! If you're trying to watch your caloric intake, this is like 800 calories. Wow. It was awesome though. Crispy chicken sandwich​ - It was so, so juicy on the inside with a light and crispy outside layer. Sometimes I have a craving for a cheeseburger that can only be cured by Shake Shack. I'm a purist at Shake Shack, always ordering a Shack Buger, which is a pretty standard cheeseburger. I like the sear of the burger at Shake Shack, and the buns are fresh. I don't usually order fries because, in my opinion, those aren't the shining star of the menu here. I'd rather save room (and calories) for a shake on the way out. The coffee is my favorite, but they've had some seasonal flavors that are worth trying, too. Service is hit or miss, depending on the night. Staff are generally friendly but aren't always in the rhythm that lets them expedite the process and orders to keep things moving. This location is on the smaller side (especially compared with Vernon Hills) but is clean and well-kept. Its proximity to the parking garage is helpful for making it a quick trip when I don't have other errands at the mall but still want that coffee shake. read more

News flash:  Shake Shake wants to be "a contenda" (note: use Marlon Brando's voice).  In the chicken sandwich war that is.  Well, here's my brief war correspondent's report. This review update is strictly for their new Korean Style Fried Chick'n sandwich offering.  Apparently this is a temporary offering scheduled from Jan 5 through April 5 for now, and it goes for $7.79 pre-tax.  As I was having the sandwich for lunch, the thought "meh" came across my mind.  Value is also always a factor in any of my ratings, and oh well, I'll go with 2.5 stars rounded up to 3.  The flavor was fine, like the classic Korean spicy-sweet red chili flavor found on a Bonchon's chicken wing, and quite mild on the spice level.  It was a nice succulent chicken breast, but it's value is not competitive, and I would say the flavor and value of Popeye's spicy chicken sandwich at $3.99 blows it out of the water (sorry!).  Choong Man Chicken's sandwich is also quite decent and is only $6.99 including a side of fries. I'm happy to have tried it, but I'm thinking SS should just stick with what they do best - burgers.  Too much other formidable competition on the chicken sandwich front, though I can appreciate that they want in on some of that growing market.  Good luck, but I wouldn't make any bets on it. read more

We stopped by here today to have some dinner since we always see how packed this restaurant is. There was a slight misunderstanding with our order but thanks to amazing manager of this location everything has resolved quickly and efficiently. It's indeed mind blowingly delicious, shakes aren't that super sweet and heavy comparing for instance the Culver's ones. Just documenting on what terrible service that we received today 12/31/22 @ 6pm. We came in there to have a quick little burger before we headed home, and the entire restaurant was absolutely filthy. I also would like to mention on how extremely loud the kitchen staff was, apparently they have not mastered the art of inside voices, I'm not sure if they know, but they have an open format kitchen, you can hear absolutely everything. All I heard them saying was god dammit this and God dammit that left and right. Not only did they get my food order incorrect, but it was extremely salty so obviously I sent it back and told them to put no salt. When I received my "corrected" order, there was only one sandwich, when I clearly return two. They were just rushing to get out of there and looking at every single customer that was inside of there very dirty, and there was just so much ruckus. I saw all the customers that were left inside of their having a look of disgust on their face, this is a family establishment, and they should be a shamed of them selves, for acting like that. There should be a code of conduct with their employees, and have some respect, if you don't want to work or be there, then just quit unfortunately, I do not suggest going to this place, even if you are ravenously hungry. First and last visit to this chain restaurant, because of multiple issues! 1) This was a very dirty location to the observer, as there was garbage all over the eating area floor, as it obviously had not been swept since the place had opened (we arrived at 2:45 pm); so a patron has to be concerned as to the sanitary conditions that were not being maintained in the food preparation areas! 2) Upon approaching the counter, and attempting to ask a question of the employees ( this location only allows a customer to order their food at a digital order screen), we were rebuffed by the first 2 employees that we attempted to communicate with- leading us to feel very disappointed with this being our first time to eat at this location!! 3) And finally, the quality and pricing of this high end location ( in the Old Orchard mall). We spent nearly $80.00 for a small, simple meal, which by our experience is much more money than at similar chains that have much better selection of choices, much greater customer experience and communication, and in fact, a higher overall quality in comparison to the burgers, cheese , fries etc. ( see Culver's, Steak & Shake). In closing, 4 basic single burgers , 3 basic fries, and 1 drink,2 basic shakes yield a bill totaling $76.00, which is an insult to common sense when there are much better and wiser options to dine out! read more

Been craving a good burger so went to Shake Shack in Old Orchard. They have plenty of seating inside and outside even with covid. Menu is straight forward and they are fast at bringing your food out. I had the ShackBurger Double and it was sooo good. It was cooked to perfection, perfect medium with fresh veggies. Not too oily, but so tasty. I sat inside and they bring the food to you due to covid. The service was really friendly and they took care of me well bringing water and if I needed condiments with my fries and burgers. Friendly staff overall. They definitely keep up to COVID standards with disinfectant wipes at every table and sanitizer upon entering and leaving. Really impressed! read more

A good handheld burger. We ordered 3 shack burgers, I know not much of a variety. But a quality well seasoned and we'll cooked burger, who cannot pass up? The fries here are also perfectly cooked with a crispness to it that just makes you want to eat more and that we did, we had to order another after devouring the first. We washed down that greasy goodness with a couple of milkshakes, salted caramel and vanilla, and a pie oh my concrete. The shakes are thick and are a bit hard to suck through a straw so maybe let it sit a bit before drinking. Flavors are great though price I could differ on. The concrete which was small was almost $5, a bit pricey for the size. The burgers the going price but still a bit pricey as you can't add any topping you want. read more
