I have been to this place a total of 5 times. 3 out of 5 times were a miss by the business. - First time dropped my clothes off and everything was good. - Second time, shop was supposed to be open until 6:30pm but was locked and no one there at 5:45pm so I could not pick up my clothes. (See original review below.) -Third time, went in picked up my clothes. Dropped more off and removed original review. -Fourth time, went to pick up my clothes. Was told to come back the next day even though my clothes were supposed to be ready. -Fifth time, shop is again closed at 5:30pm on a Monday when it says the hours are until 6:30pm. DO NOT GO HERE. She is a nice lady but who cares about being nice if you can't get your clothes. This was my first review which I removed because I felt bad and the lady is nice and my cloths looked nice. Now I know why they make you prepay for all their services. No ones works the hours they say they are opened. The store sign says that they close at 6:30 pm and I was told to come after 5pm or my clothes would not be ready. However, I show up at 5:45pm and wait for 25 minutes because I need my clothes for work the next day. No one ever shows. About 5 customers show up and walk away. Lights are out and no one to be found. Dry cleaning is supposed to have a quick turn around so I can have clothes for work. This is why this business will fail. Thanks for making me wear the same close to work 2 days in a row and look like an asshole. And I still have to come back tomorrow and get my cloths from this place. Maria has been taking care of many dry clean-only items for a couple years now. Her level of service is unrivaled. She greets me by name, brings my clothes to my car with me when I have a lot to pick up (which is often), and happily let me pay the next time I came in after forgetting my wallet one day! She even whipped out her pliers and fixed my necklace that became stuck on my dress I was wearing when I came in for a pick-up! Even when I don't notice a spot on one of my items, she will find it and do her best to get it out. I've also relied on her for a number of alterations. She has a great eye and knows what will work best. When her seamstress (Maria herself was out at that moment) pinned a jumpsuit of mine that came out too short, she let the hem out for me at no charge. She also repaired a zipper pull that just snapped off a favorite dress after a few years of wear. I tend to go long stretches between picking up my items, but in the rare event that I do need everything ready next-day, there's no extra charge. My clothes always come back in good shape and I will keep going to G&W while I live in the area. read more

After 3 instances of showing up to drop off or pick up our dry cleaning during business hours and no one being there we will not be coming back. In addition to that, I once came to pick up a gown that was supposed to be ready and it was not onsite, and the time before last an item was missing in our pickup. My husband went back to get it a few days later when he realized it was missing and the person at the counter said it had been brought out but that his wife (me) had left it - but in fact my husband had picked up all the items (and it was not there). The woman who runs the shop is incredibly personable and the space is immaculate, but the service is just downright unreliable and it's been a waste of our time to make so many unnecessary trips. read more

This wasn't my first time here, but I just received my dress shirts that were supposed to be pressed and they definitely were not! I'm very disappointed with the quality of work. It seemed like they took a regular house iron to the shirts and didn't care about how they turned out. However the customer service is very nice, the quality of service needs attention. read more

Took my dress here to get altered, just needed the length hemmed but the whole dress was ruined, the fabric got snagged and it turned out all twisted so now I won't be able to wear it. The most frustrating part about the experience was the fact that the owner wouldn't listen to me as I was trying to explain what I thought was wrong with the dress, she kept talking over me and saying nothing they did would have caused the dress to turn out all crooked. The worst of it was she tried to blame it on me saying I might not remember what the dress looked like when I dropped it off, even though I had actually tried it on there when I was dropping it off. read more

In general, my husband and I have had a very horrible experience here. Shop says opened at 7am - my husband went there on a weekday and the door was unlocked but nobody was there. When called, lady answered the phone while driving and said she was on her way in. He waited till 7:45AM until she finally showed up just to tell him "I have no idea where your clothes are". We dropped clothes off days in advance and actually picked up a day or two later than she told us to. She had all our nice suits for conferences we had to be at that morning. We were so upset that she actually delivered the clothes to our house and gave us a credit - so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Figured she was just having a shitty day. Doesn't change the fact clothes were missing and she wasn't even there. Why is your company's door unlocked with nobody there? That did not make me feel good at all. So, of course like idiots, we went back since we had credits for free dry cleaning. We drop off clothes, go to pick them up in the morning. Not there again so we waited till the afternoon and were greeted by a very old woman who does not speak english who denied us service. We asked for our clothes and she literally said No and stared at us. It was awkward and confusing. So we waited another day - I went back at 6PM and all the lights were off even though hours say till 6:30PM. I opened the door anyway cause, no surprise - its unlocked. I yelled in the back till she finally came up to help me and give me my clothes. We could not wait to get our clothes back and never go back again. Excellent, fast, friendly service! Maria is as sweet as they come and it's lovely to just visit her shop - she has tons of beautiful orchids everywhere that she cares for herself. Had my worst dry cleaning experience here! Not only did they not clean my $200 pants, they didn't even let me know that they were unable to clean the spots, and left even more spots on it than before from whatever cleaning supply they were using! When I complained they told me they'll reclean it at no expense. When I went on to pick it up the second time I wanted to take a look at it before I left the store but the lady was rushing me.. Why? Because there were new spots added on the pants! Definitely won't use their service anymore. read more

When my husband and I were planning on renewing our vows, I took my old wedding dress to these guys so that they'd remove the stains. The job they did was just mediocre. Instead of removing they added more stains. My once white dress is now filled with pink and blue stains. Now I have to look for another dress. read more

Like the others have said, Maria is fantastic - as nice as they come. I visit maybe once every two weeks but she greets me by name, and once even had my drycleaning pulled down from the racks as she saw me parking. Who does stuff like this anymore?! She warns me when there will be an upcharge for specialty shirts (i.e. two pockets with buttons which require hand iron). She also has an on-site tailor who has done good work so far, including replacing all the buttons on a shirt per my request. Give her a try! read more

Awesome new concept, but I don't think they have the experience. I have been dry cleaning my shirts for the last decade and have never received white dress shirts back with collar sweat stains still on them. Every dry cleaner scrubs the collars and lets the patron know that they spot checked it. No spot check tags or no verbal mental when I picked up- that the sweat could not be removed. read more

Just moved to the area and had to dry clean a King size quilt, and a few clothes. Since it was my first time there, the owner gave me a run down of how she came to start the company, her passion for pleasing her customers, not to mention how well-decorated the place is! This is not your typical dry cleaning facility. There is coffee/tea available, fresh cut flowers... So beautifully decorated! And none of that typical 'dry cleaner' smell. I was nervous how much I would be charged for the quilt... I care deeply for this and am always hesitant to get it dry cleaned. She charged me $35 which I am completely comfortable with. I just moved to the area and went to G&W based on the reviews I found. When I arrived and told them I was new to the area Maria could not have been more pleasant welcoming me to the area. I brought my daughter with me and she made sure to say hello to her and feel special by offering her a treat (but made sure it was ok with me first). When I picked up my cleaning I could not have been more happy with the results. It is always tough to find the right dry cleaner so I was excited when I found G&W on the first try. We have been going to Green and White Cleaners since they first opened. We used to live in the Halstead apartment complex. The owner is friendly, does a wonderful job with our business attire, and my husband's business suits. I plan on getting my wedding dress preserved here. I appreciate all of her hard work and how wonderful she is to work with. She even gave us a little wedding present when we first got married. I will miss her when we move. The lady who runs this cleaner, who I'm assuming is the owner, is probably the nicest, friendliest business owner in northern Virginia. Prices for cleaning a suit are reasonable, done in a timely manner, and the shop smells great and is decorated so cheerfully! read more

Short version: They destroyed the new $350 suit jacket that I wore to my wedding. Despite very clear evidence, they have denied that the damage occurred during the dry cleaning process. They have also refused to offer any sort of compensation or even an apology. The long version: I dropped off a suit that I had worn once for a total of three hours. I picked it up shortly after (a Thursday) and left it in the plastic until I put it on when I arrived at a friend's wedding ceremony a few days later (Saturday). After wearing it for 20-30 minutes during the ceremony, my wife realized that the jacket had two 1/4" punctures and perhaps a burn or rust mark in the upper right sleeve. Embarrassed, I took it off immediately and went to the formal reception jacket-less. I took it back to the cleaners the next day they were open (Monday) to report the damage. I was instantly met with denial that this could have possibly happened during the dry cleaning process. The owner later revealed that like many dry cleaners, all of the actual dry cleaning is handled by an off-site third-party company. They claim to inspect each garment upon exit/arrival but in this case it is obvious that they failed. Given the location of the damage, if it had occurred while I was wearing the jacket I would have an equal size puncture through my arm (thankfully I do not) and the jacket would be covered in blood (it is not). The one time I wore the jacket was my wedding day so I have over a thousand photos showing absolutely no damage to the jacket up until the point I took it off and placed it into a garment bag for transport. It is clear that the hole in the sleeve was made while the jacket was laying flat (as in not being worn). When not in use the jacket was always stored in my garment bag or plastic from the dry cleaners. Neither of these had any damage to them. The owner made a lot of accusations about how I could have damaged the jacket myself but my favorite was when she claimed I burned it on the outside with a cigarette (I do not smoke) and then punctured the inner lining with a sharp object. The outcome: I attempted to resolve this through the Better Business Bureau but the owner is standing behind the technicalities in the company's policy claiming that I should've taken it out of the plastic and inspected the jacket as soon as I got home. She has made no offer to repair or replace the jacket. The owner even said something along the lines of "go ahead and write bad reviews online, I've been here three years and they'll have no effect". This is a terrible way to do business and they will lose many customers this way. There are much more honest dry cleaners less than 1/4 mile away. read more

I received my shirts back with pet hair on a couple of them (I don't have any pets). Also, the others did not even look like they were cleaned properly. For the amount that this place charges you would expect to receive decent service, but it seems like they can't even provide basic cleaning. read more

One of the best tailors I've ever been to and definitely my go to place from here on out. Maria said that their specialty is actually tailoring and alterations, not so much dry cleaning as the latter service is outsourced to a third party. If you have any gowns or multi layered, delicate material dresses that need to be hemmed or taken in, Maria will do it for you and make it look like it was made that way. I gave her a very expensive, delicate chiffon dress with five layers in it that had to have four inches taken off the bottom. However, this dress is specialty due to the way it the skirt drapes down and on the floor. I asked Maria to keep that look just take it up a bit so that the dress wasn't dragging on the floor. I was very concerned about how it would turn out since the fabric was so delicate and if she cut it too short it would ruin the whole look of the dress. First off, she got it done in 2 days. That is nothing short of AMAZING. Secondly, she did such a great job, it looked as though the designer, Jenny Yoo herself,. had made that dress to fit me exactly. For all of the layers and fabric involved, the total price was still under $100 and to get this done in 2 days without a surcharge to rush the order is just incredible. Maria said most of the alterations are turned around in 2 days or less. I saw a bunch of wedding dresses and other expensive gowns hanging in the back so she is clearly very experienced with altering expensive garments. read more

When we got married she gave us a gift certificate as our wedding present we had only been her customers for a couple of months. That kind of customer support and care is hard to find now a days.
