When we walked in, I realized how packed this place was so I figured we were just gonna have to wait for a few minutes for a table to finally open up, then we were taking upstairs where there is additional seating as well along with outside seating if it wasn't snowing. So we were seated, and then we proceeded to ask a few questions before we ordered our drinks, and main entrée. The main entrée was delicious, I had the "kitchen sink" and it was extremely flavorful. I can definitely say the portions are huge as well so it's best to come hungry hungry! My partner enjoyed their meal as well and we were so full that we didn't even get to bite too much into the peach cobbler, but just from a few bites that we took that was delicious! NEVER AGAIN! Let me start with the SERVICE FEE! This place charges an EXTRA 18% FEE before I even give a tip?! I asked the waitress about this, and she said: "Yeah, it goes to the bussers and kitchen staff. The rest goes directly to me." THE REST? THE REST OF WHAT?!?! You've already charged me an 18% gratuity! I felt bad because our waitress was friendly, and did a decent job, despite the fact that this place is a bit understaffed on a Monday afternoon. So, even though our waters were NEVER REFILLED and my iced tea was NEVER REFILLED, I gave a 20% tip... YES, ON TOP OF THE 18%, which now means I've paid a 38% gratuity on a $50 brunch, bring it to $74! Maybe I'm the sucker. Too nice. BUT NEVER AGAIN! But let's talk about the food, shall we...? I haven't been to this chain for a while, so maybe it has fallen off slightly, or maybe the flavors are no longer novel for me, but let's start with the... STREAK & EGGS (2/5) The menu literally says "YOU CAN'T ORDER YOUR STEAK WELL DONE," so my partner orders the steak medium rare. Guess at what temperature it came out? WELL-DONE. WTF?!?! First, why is this even a rule if your kitchen staff can't cook a steak to proper temperature. Not to mention, they didn't rest the steak before slicing and plating, so by the time my partner started eating, meat juices were pooling at the bottom of the plate, mixing with the already soggy sautéed spinach. Halfway through her meal, she was basically eating a breakfast stew! We should've sent it back! CHICKEN BENEDICT (3/5) This dish comes with a HALF WAFFLE. I asked if I could have the other half of my waffle. The waitress said no. NO? I'm sorry, you can't charge me a little extra for me to get my whole waffle? "You half to order the Chicken & Waffles to get the whole waffle," said the waitress. So, it seems the restaurant doesn't want to make this money by giving me a whole waffle? WTF?!?! What's with all of these arbitrary rules? Just charge me extra for the other half my waffle! This is ridiculous! What's more, every time I bit into my chicken the texture of the breading reminded me of fried notebook paper. There was literally a moment I had to check to make sure I wasn't eating some kind of paper wrapper or something. The flavor was still okay, but the texture? Not great. CHEESE GRITS (3/5) The silver lining is that I really didn't need the other half of the waffle; after eating some of my cheese grits side, I was full. I think the grits tasted like I remember -- still good -- but they seemed remarkably under-seasoned. I don't remember having to add so much of my own salt and pepper last time. We had a party of five and our one friend miscalculated how far she parked from the restaurant- we had the table for about 40 min before my friend showed up. The server was so nice- mind you, this was a Sunday at brunch. I felt so so bad. I ordered an omelette with gluten free toast. Eggs are big, coffee is brewed fresh, as many cups as you want, bacon is thick and crunchy, I prefer dry over greasy. I was in town for a hot minute and I just had to have brunch at my favorite breakfast spots with one of my favorite people! This was our first time at this location on Gaul st. I'm usually at the 2nd street location. I like that it was a little more spacious than 2nd st. and I enjoyed watching them make food right by our table. Now to get to the good part, the crème brûlée is hands down my favorite French toast here, and I love their pork bacon and they always make my scramble eggs with cheese just the way I like it! This was also huge, which is 3 eggs, sausage crumbles, gyureye cheese, potatoes, onions, and sausage gravy on a large biscuit in an iron skillet. He brought what he couldn't eat home for 2 more meals! He said it was delicious as well! I think the name fits the dish! I decided on the Shrimp & Grits. It comes with 2 eggs (anyway you like), 5 shrimps, and cheesy grits. The grits were nice, thick and cheesy. They could have made it a even 6 shrimps, but.... ok! They were still delicious. I was very surprised because it was busy in the restaurant, but they were on top of it! The food is always delicious here. Such an enjoyable mid week brunch here! I met friends around 9 am. Plenty of tables were available. A much more relaxed, uncrowded atmosphere than the weekends!! I went to Green Eggs Cafe for my birthday breakfast. The most frustrating part of this whole trip was struggling to find a place to park any time I went out to eat...or do anything...in Philly. This place was no different, but I did eventually find a place to park a couple of blocks away, (there were other meals I had to skip due to a lack of parking on this trip, and yes, more than once) so be prepared for this problem, as I did not expect it to be so bad. When you come up to the door, it may be a little confusing. There is a sign that reads Green Eggs Cafe on the left over the windows, but over the door to the right, it says Medusa. I wondered for a moment if I was in the right place. Maybe Green Eggs is breakfast and Medusa is dinner? There was the nicest male server walking around and filling up drinks, delivering food and helping out. He wasn't my main server, but he was my favourite. I can tell you right now that no woman, especially one over the age of 40, likes being called ma'am. This server called me Miss. I've had other persons working in service do this, and it makes me like them immediately. Take a tip...calling us ma'am makes us feel old. I tipped him as well as my server for this and the fact that he delivered EXCELLENT service...wish I knew his name. I can't find my receipt but my server was a blonde female and she was excellent as well. The service is very good here. I didn't have to wait long for anything. And just as a tip, this place only takes CASH. There is an ATM if you are primarily a card user like me. The inside of the restaurant is really cute. Lots of windows and light...because most humans like that sort of thing, lol. There were these black and red (my favourite colour combination) jellyfish on the front bar, cute. There was wood stacked up at the back, coffee for sale behind the counter and the tables and chairs were comfortable. The mimosa was beautiful. This is from the menu: PINEAPPLE BREEZE prosecco, malibu rum, pineapple juice, sugar rim, and grenadine Delicious. I was disappointed because I wanted to try the CHICKEN CHILAQUILES I had seen online (must research my restaurants in advance due to my gluten intolerance). Turns out it was a temporary item. Too bad. Instead, I ordered the shrimp and grits which was clearly marked on the menu as Gluten-free. I love restaurants that do this on their menu. In fact, if they don't, most of the time I just pass them by. The grits were NOLA good, yes, that good. And the shrimp were perfectly cooked. but the spicy sauce that came on the side was out of this world. The breakfast was a fair portion for the price, delicious, spicy and filling. I didn't leave hungry for sure. And that drink is now in my top ten. Clean restaurant and bathrooms. Delicious food that you can tell was made with care. The bellini lacked flavor. Didn't taste much passion fruit. Tasted the champagne. Would have liked to taste more of the fruit. Food: Brisket sandwich- meat was tender but lacked flavor. Left me wanting more. Didn't taste the horseradish. Mac n cheese- no flavor at all and cheese Didn't stick to the pasta, too loose; salt and pepper couldn't even bring it to life. I didn't feel crapped up although the tables are really small but it's like that at all the locations. We went for the French toast special which was soooo good I loved each and every flavor they brought out. I had the potatoes and oatmeal and those were really good, I like that you can add up to three toppings now. My boyfriend had the kitchen sink which he raved about. Also, this is the first location I've been to that served liquor so we did try the mimosas which were as expected. Our boys are suckers for sausage gravy and biscuits, so rather than order from the kids menu, they split the Kitchen Sink. Omg. It was so much food you could split it three ways. It was a bottomless deep dish skillet that came out piled with food. The cocktails are very cheap at $8 and they don't skimp. We had the dragon tea and a mango cocktail that is similar to a margarita, but made with vodka. I preferred the dragon tea, personally. I love eggs Benedict and they had some cool variations. I went with the short rib eggs benny and it does not look like a lot of short rib meat, but trust me, it is. I chose to have cheesy grits as my side for a $1 more. They were good. I enjoy this location more than the second street one they previously had because there was an option for alcohol. Nothing better than mimosas and a Bloody Mary to start out your Saturday. It's a very lively scene, parking can be a hassle but it's worth the wait. Any of the coffee options with condensed milk would be a good choice. Definitely give them a try. I've been to this location a few times. Met up with some family for breakfast. As we were seated the waitress comes over to take our orders. When she returns with the coffee and cream she spills the coffee/cream all on my cousins husbands clothes and boots. She was apologetic and offered to bring some hot water but she also rushed us to order after she did it. Maybe she was nervous but she definitely should have taken his meal off the bill after ruining his clothes and boots. The manager stopped by our table to ask how things were going, my aunt let her know what happened and she stated she wasn't made aware but she could have his clothes cleaned if he wanted to bring them back. This sounds so ridiculous to me. She should have asked if he had gotten burned. As a courtesy gave him a free meal. Something in that moment. Not go home take your clothes off and bring them back to get cleaned. As for the food everyone in our party seemed ok with their meal. I ordered the steak and egg replacement with braised short rib.
