B&B continues to be a solid neighborhood staple. I don't blame them, inflation is hitting everyone - but man have the prices really gone up over the last 3 years. I will also die on this hill - which is that I miss their fried chicken very much. I love their seitan wings though, always solid as is their pizza. 8/10 times their pizza is good, sometimes it's a little wet on the bottom. I hate to leave a negative review but we had the wildest, most-passive-aggressive experience I've ever dealt with tonight. The website doesn't offer a way to reach out to management/ owners, so this felt like the only recourse. We came in for post-dinner drinks, and were immediately loving the vibe! Bartenders and our server were so friendly and the playlist was throwback fire! We order a bunch of drinks. My friend and I go to head outside; as my friend was standing up, someone was bringing food from the kitchen, and I immediately feel something wet cover my foot and spill on the lower part of my pants. I hear "Oh my god I am so so sorry" etc etc. I assume it's the person who has spilled, and I immediately respond with? "everything is fine things happen! No big deal." I look up and am met with a surly response. I realize that the person running food, who did not make themselves known with a, "behind", nor did they exercise what I would expect in navigating a dining room. As you may expect from my initial response, I am fully accepting of these moments that happen in bars and restaurants. My friend was devastated and immediately apologetic. In return, the person running food was OPENLY angry with my friend. They did not address that sauce had spilled all over my foot and leg EVER (after waiting several minutes for them to deal with the issue, in case they didn't notice at first, I asked the bartender for napkins). As the spill (wings and wing sauces) was cleaned up around our table, the cook/runner/employee in a floral jumpsuit continued to try to make us uncomfortable soth their passive aggression. Never saying things like excuse me as they swept the mop towards our feet, never asking if everyone was okay, never acknowledging my friend who repeatedly apologized. This person could be heard SCREAMING about the incident from the kitchen, which made us so so uncomfortable just we cancelled our last round of drinks and immediately left. We probably won't be back, which is a shame. Overall, this place seemed like a vibe. Unfortunately, we ran into a super negative experience and were given no other way to share it. This place was great. Really cool divey vibes but an elevated menu. Great vegan options, especially at brunch! I'm not vegan so I opted for the Bubba Benedict. Came here with about 8 friends on a Friday afternoon. They were able to accommodate but not sure if I'd pick this place for a big group again. It wasn't the comfiest spot but was still pretty good. The lighting is a bit dim so definitely a place to go if you want a more intimate setting. Maybe a good date spot! The food was okay. But I'm also pretty picky when it comes to fried chicken so that may be why. I had the chicken and waffles and even though the crisp was delish, the seasoning wasn't really there for me. My friends also thought there food was okay at best. I didn't have any bourbon but I'm assuming that's probably what they are known for. Service was quick and didn't have any issues there. I'd recommend this place for maybe a date or some one on one time with a friend, to have drinks and light appetizers but don't know if I'd ever come back for actual dinner again. Met my daughters at Bourbon & Branch for brunch before heading up to Boston. Suggested because it was right across from Penn St which worked out well. I feel like this area is always under construction tho lol. Party of 3 and we were sat upstairs at one of the high tops. Lovely view of MSG and construction lol. Had a DJ playing which is always a vibe. Greeted by our server in a timely manner. I will say our server was incredible throughout the entire time. Too bad I forgot her name... My oldest daughter has been here before and knew exactly what she wanted to drink. The Espresso Martini was well made and she says it's one of the best she's had. I did the bottomless and grabbed a Mimosa. Wanted to start light, was gonna be a long day. We started with the Caprese Flatbread for the table. Flavorful but a little too much cheese for my liking. For entrees, Churro French Toast, which was the table favorite. Avocado Toast, nice size portion and egg cooked perfectly according to my other daughter. I opted for the French Style omelette, which was stuffed and cooked nicely. The potatoes were a little bland tho. I also grabbed a Bloody Mary spicy and it didn't disappoint. The Chocolate Mousse Cake for desert capped the brunch. Tasty, but very sweet. Overall, nice place with cool decor. The food was tasty and drinks some better than others. Opted for the bottomless brunch which is $45 per person and includes an app, entree, and bottomless mimosas, margs, or Bloody Mary's. There is a 1.5 hour limit. My waitress would check our table frequently and refill the mimosa glass as needed. The biscuits ( my app option) was delicious and reminded me of biscuits made when I was younger and I asked for some jelly due to being full of nostalgia. It's in what looks to be an older part of town and parking can be troublesome, fortunately we found street parking about a block away. This was on a Tuesday evening, I can't imagine how crazy it gets on the weekend. Walking in you get that lived in feeling, kinda like a dive bar. The staff here is friendly and their bourbon selection is pretty solid. What surprised us was how good the food is here. Everything we tried was very good and we even dove into some of the vegan options and were surprised by the flavors you got. I was really bummed that they didn't have cheesesteak and had to settle for the burger. One friend got the chicken cheese steak and another got the salmon and they both really enjoyed them. If you are in the area and can find parking, I would suggest stopping in here. I would 100% come back here again if/when I am back in the area. read more

I came in for drinks and had an app with friends. There were tables and bar seats. The server was great, and attentive. I ordered the fried pickles which were tasty. Drinks were on par- I ordered a cosmo. They didn't have a great wine list (no Chardonnay) so I had to drink hard liquor. My friend picked the restaurant because they have a vegan section on the menu. There was a drag show happening upstairs so it's safe to say the downstairs patrons were not the priority for the staff. It took well over 20mins for us to receive WATER, over 40mins for DRINKS and well over 1.5hours for our FOOD...just for quality to be subpar and inaccurate. There was little to no communication about what was going on in the kitchen. We had to ask to speak to the manger and SUGGEST there be some type of accommodation for our wait. Little neighborhood place with a NOLA vibe. The service was great. Our waitress was also the bartender. The cocktails were on point. The espresso martini was delicious and refreshing. The strawberry jalapeño marg had just the right amount of spice and was very tasty. The food was good, not great. The bourbon burger were smashed patties with an onion ring with bourbon sauce. The fried shrimp platter had a good portion of jumbo fried shrimp. They were fried well and probably the best dish of all of them. The fish tacos were cod with some slaw. The plate came out with some type of liquid on it and they were so salty, I couldn't even eat them. The waitress was great and took them off the bill without us asking. We had a sluce of chocolate cake to finish. That was good, most likely not made in house. I don't think I'll be rushing back for food, which is sad because they have a brunch on Saturday and Sunday and a jazz night. read more

I really like buffalo chicken pizza, and this is probably top 3. The toppings were on a nice, crusty yet airy crust. It was messy but in a good way, with just the right amount of cheese and toppings. The chicken was crispy, and the blue cheese curds were a great addition. The burnt cheese on the edges gave it an extra crunch, and the personal pan size was perfect. The restaurant has an old saloon vibe. It took a while for a server to come to our table--around 10-15 minutes--even though it wasn't busy. The server was nice but wasn't very attentive. We went there on a Saturday without a reservation and they were kind enough to seat the four of us upstairs. Everyone in our party, with the exception of me, had the brunch burrito which no one was very impressed with. They said it didn't have a lot in it other than potatoes, and at $17, it was overpriced. I had the Smashburger, which is a double burger with Cooper sharp cheese and it was fabulous! Quite honestly the best burger I've had in Philadelphia and that's saying something! The bartender upstairs was super helpful and put college game-day on the TV for us. The full bar has everything you could want, including great beer specials, and mixed cocktails. I will definitely be back for that burger, but we won't be eating the burritos again anytime soon. read more

After my monthly trip to Penn Herb Company this month we wandered about and found Bourbon and Branch and what a delight it was. Old eclectic bar dimly lit with historic wooden craftsmanship throughout. Boasting two stories with a bar on each level. We were seated promptly in a booth. Before long the bar was filled and the remaining booths occupied with construction crews stopping in for lunch. The ambiance colorful in appearance and sound. Our friendly barkeep got the food served to all of us without a struggle getting the guys fed and back on the job, all the while allowing us to enjoy our less than rushed meal. The pizza was topped with plenty of curly cupped pepperoni and the crunch of the crust mingled with the chew of the dough was perfection. The cheese steak was crafted with quality beef and mixed with peppers and onions that were not overpowering. Good food, great atmosphere and friendly service gained Bourbon and Branch a full 4/4.5 in my book - we will be popping back in for sure. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday for brunch for a friend's birthday. They want to eat here so I decided to join them. Walking into the restaurant, I think it's a place where I'd most likely grab a drink than a meal since it resembles a dive bar. The service was great and they attended to us right away. I'd give them a 4/5 for that. However most of the review and low rating is on the food. I ordered the simple thing a chicken and waffle. The waffles looked pretty simple (something you could purchase at the grocery store and heat up at home). Actually the grocery stores waffle probably tastes better than their waffles. The chicken was one small chicken tender. The waffle was very bland, no flavor whatsoever. I had to drench it in syrup to help it out. The chicken tender was just too small however tender; it also lacked flavor. Maybe I should've ordered something even more basic since chicken and waffles are not created equal everywhere. Everyone else stated what they ordered was just okay as well. Like I stated it's more a dive bar kind of vibe so not surprised the food isn't so great here. I ordered the vegan Caesar side salad and the vegan cheese steak made with blackbird seitan. I liked the Caesar which was pretty basic and the dressing was good. The cheesesteak was okay but not enough seitan and too many onions and the seitan was in big chunks. They put a good amount of "cheese" and it tasted good. They need to put in more seitan in the sandwich and lighten up on the onions and peppers and mushrooms. I doubt I'll order there again. read more

It was around noon on a Friday and they had a few folks already in the restaurant dining away and we were able to get seated fairly quickly. The restaurant has an old feel and was darkly lit. The server was helpful in suggesting meal options and I decided on the chicken & waffle Benedict with the sauce on the side. My meal was tasty and I was content with it. This was my third time visiting Bourbon & Branch, and unfortunately my last two experiences have been less than impressive. About three months ago in December, two of my girlfriends and I went on a Tuesday for trivia night. The night ended very poorly when our party got into a verbal altercation with someone who we believed was an employee but later found out was actually a family member of an employee and not affiliated with the establishment. The situation was very off-putting for us. The manager Adam later reached out to apologize and said that if we came back, he would make it right by offering us a meal on him. Yesterday we tried to follow up on that. We reached out to Adam to let him know we planned to come in, but we received no response despite calling, texting, and emailing. Against our better judgment, we still decided to go. When we arrived, there was no one to greet us, so we seated ourselves. We waited about 15-20 minutes before anyone came to take our drink or appetizer order. The wait was roughly an hour for our entrees to arrive. We assumed they might be short staffed and tried to be understanding. I've been vegan for over 10 years, so I'm pretty familiar with what good vegan food should look and taste like. Bourbon & Branch actually has a good-sized vegan menu, which I initially appreciated. Unfortunately, the execution seems to be inconsistent. I ordered the seitan wings as an appetizer and they were huge and looked as though the sauce was literally poured on the wings and not tossed. I ordered the seitan cheesesteak as my entrée. I specifically asked for the cheesesteak to be well done, chopped fine, and made with vegan queso. I've ordered this same cheesesteak there before and it was great. This time, however, it was completely different. Instead of a chopped seitan cheesesteak, it was just large chunks of seitan with onions and peppers on a roll -- and there was no cheese at all. At that point, after the long wait times for drinks and food (although our server did apologize), I decided not to send it back because I was just ready to leave. Overall, I really wanted to give Bourbon & Branch another chance, especially after the previous situation and the manager's apology, but unfortunately the experience didn't improve. Came back the other night for dinner and was not disappointed with the service or food! Sat at the bar and came at a good time because shortly after it started to get packed. We ordered the Caesar salad again and also ordered the elote corn and spicy boy pizza. Two minor "complaints" if you would even call it that. All three dishes arrived at the same exact time. The elote corn is listed under their appetizer so we thought they would cut the kernels off the corn since people tend to typically share appetizers. It came the traditional way, which is corn on the cob. But if you're sharing an app, it's not like we each are going to take turns eating off the cob. It should be listed as a side or kernels cut off so people can easily share. It was easy to break the corn in half, but your hands will get very dirty from all the sauce. Flavors for all the food was there and it was delicious. I loved the hot honey on the pizza and it was a great size. Will definitely return for more pizza and other new items! read more

Never had brunch here before, so decided to give it a try. Drove around a few times before I was able to find a parking spot. Arrived a little after 11am and was informed that it would be a 30 minute wait and to wait outside as hostess would get us when a table became available. We decided to walk around a bit and see if any other place was seating folks sooner but, no luck. When we returned, we waited a brief moment before we were called and seated. We were greeted by our server who immediately informed us that they ran out of French Toast. We ended up ordering a waffle w/eggs, a breakfast platter w/a waffle and one pepperoni pizza. The place was packed and we waited a long time for our meals to arrive. I was satisfied w/my pizza but the breakfast meals were simple ok. The waffle arrived slightly cool, no longer hot/warm. We ordered mimosas and they were pretty good (pineapple and mango I believe). I enjoy bourbon and branches pizza and will come back for more. This isn't a spot I'd come back to for brunch. For context, my bestie and I were looking for a brunch spot in Northern Liberties with availability on Labor Day. We looked up the reviews for Bourbon & Branch and decided to give it a chance. There was a short wait. Some of the employees seemed flustered, the rest seemed super cool. We took in the beautiful decommissioned church as we entered and sat. We used the QR code to pull up the menu. I ordered a ginger ale and the grilled chicken Caesar wrap. I had an inkling and asked for no onions, which to my surprise the wrap contained. I understand Bourbon & Branch is a bar, but I did not expect to not be able to have a soda. The 'ginger ale' I received was very off. Very. I shared this with the waiter who seemed unphased. He simply placed the liquid on bar, where it stayed among other cups for the remainder of my dining experience. He later came back and said, "we don't have ginger ale" without offering an alternative. The wrap received did not have Caesar dressing, which I'm not mad at. Im assuming the Caesar dressing had onions in it as well. I received what appeared to be chopped chicken with lettuce on a wrap with Chipotle Mayo? on the side. The wrap and fries were good enough to sustain me long enough to get back to Jersey. read more

Went there this past Friday with my wife. We had just come from jewelers row and I needed a drink. I was looking for places to go and I found Bourbon and Branch which was a 11 minute ride from "The Row." My wife got the espresso martini and the bartender convinced her to try it with bourbon...delicious. Tasted more like a Tiramisu! My wife doesn't do bourbon so for her to order a second from the bartnder...my man! I had the BeBop because I was in the mood for a Margarita. Equally delicious. When you open the menu the Chicken Parm screams order me so we did. We also had the Fried Shrimp. Everything was fabulous. I didn't get the bartenders name because he was a little busy but you did a hell of a job. I tip my hat to you fine sir. I liked the old school vibe as well. My type of place. Inside is interesting after you take a look at the decor and upstairs bar area. We were jamming to the music playing while talking & eating. The host is a little off I think with the seating arrangement and the service is a little off key as well. Was seated awkwardly and waited about 10 min until we got water.
