Called these guys to get a quote and an ASAP time slot and they were able to do that for me. Jack came in day of, took a quick look over to gauge what they needed to work on and see if the quote that he gave me was representative of the work that needed to be done, and I left it up to them to do their thing. Came back after 3.5 hours to a clean apartment, everything I asked for dealt with satisfactorily. Would definitely hire them for their services again. Full disclosure for sure, just so future customers don't get wary of it, I did get a discount for writing this review, but they did such a good job regardless so I was happy to oblige; it's worth building a relationship with these guys and for me, with a good review that I would've probably written anyway, this was just a bonus of their excellent customer service. read more

They did fine, but not worth the money. I should have asked in advance what type of eco friendly products they used. When they showed up, I expected to see supplies, mops, brooms, etc. All they used was water. That was the "eco friendly" cleaning agent. I requested a thorough mopping, they used a swiffer. We had a lot of square footage to cover, so a team of 4 or 5 came over for roughly 6 or 7 hours. I would say they really polished up the place as opposed to actually cleaning it or disinfecting it. Jack is extremely friendly over the phone, a little too sales pitchy IMO. He was part of the cleaning crew. I did not appreciate how he spoke to the crew in front of me and practically berated them for doing something incorrectly/leaving a streak/etc. I should have asked more questions or made specific requests for products/supplies. I'm very, very particular--especially when it comes to my cleaning. I can be a bit OCD and have been disappointed with just about every service I've used in NYC because it wasn't cleaned as thoroughly as I would clean it myself. My apartment is also not very dirty as I regularly clean (usually a bit each day) in between cleanings. But when my renovations on my new apartment were done, there was no way I alone could get all the dust and grime up by myself. These folks stepped in, came and did a thorough consultation to best understand my expectations and they than followed through with an impeccable job. A small bathroom object got knocked down while cleaning; and the owner (who's super communicative and very invested in customer service) called me to explain and asked me how I felt we could make it right. It was very thoughtful and we were able to work out the VERY minor thing no problem. It's nice that we first had a conversation rather than a prescribed solution from soulless customer service. Further, they are just very transparent--about how long something might take, what they can/can't do, if they're running late. Easy to work with, responsive and very on top of their game. Handy is a joke and for comparable prices, these folks provide a GREEN (therefore more healthy/less taxing on your stone countertops and other surfaces) experience with customer service light years ahead of Handy and everyone else. I've recently started using them for regular cleanings and it's so lovely to support a company with both great service, but clear communication unlike the mess of upstarts that don't screen or train their employees. read more

I work as a Location Manager for film/tv productions all around the city. I just finished a shoot in an expensive 4-story brownstone, multiple day shoot with a crew of +80. Needless to say, once everything was put back into place - the brownstone needed a good cleaning to ensure the home-owners were left happy. My reputation and future shoots were on the line. I called up Jack and he came with one of his cleaners to suss out the work that would be needed to be done in the brownstone. We went room-to-room and floor-to-floor, while they took meticulous notes and asked questions to make sure that I would get the cleaning I needed. We set up the 4hr appointment and, with most tv productions, they had to work with a very select and tight time-frame. Jack came in and gave me an estimate for a deep cleaning, one which I felt was more than reasonable. The appt was set for the following day! It's wonderful when a business is able to accommodate a person's schedule. The people came, were friendly and understood what I was looking for out of the cleaning. After it was done, Jack came back and inspected the job they had done. For the record, things weren't perfect. But Jack offered to bring them back and sort out the minor areas that were missed. He welcomed the feedback and was anxious to make good in any areas in which I wasn't satisfied. I'm not a fanatical "green" person - I do appreciate it but all my personal cleaning supplies are the standard kinds and I wasn't willing to pay through the nose just for "green." We've also had house cleaners before: independent "cleaning ladies" recommended by friends. We have a small 2-br apartment with a toddler and two cats. Am also 7 mo pregnant and since it's getting hard to bend over for long periods I decided it was time for was time to hire someone again and since I really wanted a "deep clean" to start, I thought I'd try a service. Then I'd decide about whether to hire them on a regular basis or go back to a cleaning lady. First, Jack showed up THE DAY I called to walk through our apt, explain his services and provide an estimate. He was also able to fit me in the next day for our cleaning. But I was still skeptical. I am no longer a skeptic. As just one example, without me having to ask, they pulled out all the storage boxes under our bed and cleaned under there (that's two years worth of cat hair!). They did the same throughout our apartment. We have NO HAIR anywhere: corners, behind toy bins, at the base of closets, behind the courch, etc. It's amazing. And they still got the "normal" places too (kitchen, bathroom, floors, shelves, etc) too, all in 4 hours. Did they miss a few minor places, yes, but they more than made up for it with the thorough cleaning of the much harder to reach locations. I've scheduled them to come weekly and it is very reasonably priced I think. I am so psyched! I definitely recommend them! I hired GECC to do a general clean of my apartment - focusing on the bathroom. My main concern was the tile and the sliding shower door. Jack came by the day I called to do a walk through and take notes for the agent. Customer satisfaction is clearly his top priority. Shainice arrived on time and I did a quick walk through with her. She was friendly and professional. My bathtub is the cleanest I've ever seen it. She got rid of some pretty gross scum that I did not want to ever deal with. I did once when I moved to NYC and then again today-- and I swear, whenever I need a cleaning, I will only use this company. I had a move-in cleaning for a normal, 1 bedroom apartment that was dirty, but not disgusting. The more I settled into the apartment, the more I asked myself, what did the cleaner actually do? Maybe I was expecting too much? I'm not saying it was terrible-it was in better condition than it was-but the details were overlooked and it seemed more like a quickie wipe down . Definitely not what I expected for 3 hours of work, for the price I paid. I ended up having to clean anyway, but maybe not as hard I would have had to. I specified that the oven (which was a separate cost) was the most important to be cleaned because even though visibly this oven wasn't in too bad of condition, I really despise cleaning ovens (they gross me out, regardless of how they look). She pointed out some spots on the oven door that were stained so-to-speak and could not be cleaned in general. I was ok with that. However, there was still grease inside the oven that could be wiped off with just a paper towel. I'm glad I asked about the bottom part of the oven; I thought it was a given because it's part of the oven, but her response made it seem like it wouldn't have been looked at if I didn't mention it. In the end, I still didn't feel totally comfortable putting my food down there. The floors and molding seemed clean, but up close there was still some dirt and residue. I didn't see a broom or mop, and specifically asked when booking the appointment if I needed to provide anything. On a positive note, they responded super quickly to my request for a quote, and were able to accommodate very last minute (the next morning, on the day I was moving in, before the movers came). read more

This review is a long time coming. Needed a deep clean for a very dirty rental apartment I was moving into. Needless to say, I was willing to pay for it to be done properly. Jack talks a good game and tells you everything you want to hear, but, his idea of a deep clean and mine are not the same especially for the prices he charges. I don't consider using a swiffer duster on years of dirt, deep cleaning. I found grime still on the surfaces like they had never been clean. It was disgusting! The cleaners wore their street shoes while cleaning, too, and kept walking on the "clean" floors in their dirty shoes. I had to ask them to clean surfaces that should have been done like cobwebs on light fixtures. I recently had a need for a post-construction deep clean and used another service. What a difference to the attention to detail needed to get rid of construction dust. This is the second time I have had to have a post construction clean up in the last 60 days. The first time the team ended up taking a bit more time than the initial estimate, part of that seemed to be a stroke of bad luck as people were calling out sick, and some perhaps not fully realizing the scope of the space. When they were done, I felt great moving into our new home. I have lots of friends who moved post contraction and still felt their home was not clean or safe and I did not feel that way at all. Because we are all human there were a handful of places that got neglected, but they would have come back to address them, but it took me all of 10 min to dust those few areas. The second time we were already living in the space and our construction crew was awful and did not cover a thing. So there was so much dust on everything. The reason this review is not 5 stars is the estimate was quite a bit off even though they came to the space. In fairness it seemed pretty low to me at the time and in hindsight I don't think they were able to see all the closet contents as the workers were still here. The team went above and beyond to clean, brining in another crew member when they saw the extend of the dust on closet contents. Once again, after having them come I feel like my home is safe and habitable. I would highly recommend them for a post construction clean up, its a type of cleaning not everyone can do or understand the magnitude of it. read more

This company offers a discount for writing a Yelp review. No wonder so many positive reviews. Bummer of a service. While the staff is nice, they did a mediocre cleaning job, missing a lot of details. The bathroom sink and tub were still dirty, and they didn't sweep or vacuum any furniture (no vaccuum!). When they left, there was still residue on the kitchen stovetop and the sink from doing a partial scrub job. The floor was also sticky with product and I had to mop it up! I usually don't take the time to write reviews, but this time I need to share my experience. I moved in an apartment in Brooklyn that supposedly was"professionally cleaned" before my family and I moved in. When we got to the place, not only it was not cleaned by professionals, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for years. The bathroom tiles and toilet were covered in rust, dirt and who knows what else, the kitchen's cabinet had an inch of grease on them (and on top), the appliances were so greasy you couldn't even read the brand on them anymore. I quickly looked for a nicely rated cleaning company and I found GREEN ENVIRONMENT CLEANING CORP. Jack answered my call in a second and came by for a cleaning assessment. He was as horrified as I was when he saw the mess. He saw I have a six months old baby and squeezed my cleaning session later that day (5 to 8:30 pm) even though they were completely booked for days. He sent 3 of his best girls and they worked tirelessly until every inch of my apartment was spotless. One of the girls (Iris) even took apart those old style floor heaters to take all the dust that was stuck in them. When she was done She said "this baby ain't breathing any of that dust anymore!". I have used many cleaning companies over the years, I never met such hardworking, polite, professional people. Our apartment went under extensive renovation. We had 3 bedrooms put in and a bathroom for the arrival of a new baby. Drywall dust and debris were everywhere. Not to mention we have a 20ft brick wall that was covered in it. Our architect had originally recommended another cleaning service that was unavailable when we needed them. I called Green Environment Cleaning based on Yelp reviews, and Jack responded immediately and was super helpful. He met with my husband and assessed how many hours it would take and the cost estimate. Jack and his team of 4 arrived the next day ready to work. They tacked everything - even wiping our boxes down that were covered in dust. He climbed up on a 20ft ladder to vacuum our brick wall and also wiped down the blades of our precariously high ceiling fan. His team also cleaned our super large windows - I think this is the cleanest they have ever been. They tackled everything and were super friendly. I was able to come back into the apt at 9 months pregnant and feel like I could breathe and put back all of our belongings without worrying about dust and wiping things down again. I highly recommend Green Environment Cleaning. Our architect/contractor was even impressed and asked for their info. I rarely write reviews. I cannot dispute those who have had GEC come into their home to clean because we never even made it that far. I began the email quote/walk-in request via their website back in June for when we moved in to our apartment in July. I trusted the reviews so much that I said we don't even need to bother with the walk-through. This was a couple of email exchanges with Jack, who then never followed up on giving us an appointment despite saying that it was no problem to do so - there were 3 emails from me btw. We went with a different company that did a fairly decent job but I wrote Jack and expressed my frustration with the fact that he/they dropped all lines of communication and that I was inclined to write an unhappy review. He responded within a day of that final email with, "Good morning. Im reading your email in disbelief that we never replied back. We sincerely apologize for this mishap. Its not common practice and very unusual of an occurance. If for any reason you should decide to rebook we will adjust our rate to reflect our apologises. Somehow you slipped through the cracks with the influx of emails that came in. In the future calling direct (with any delayed reply) would have secured and booked your date on the spot. We do apologize for any inconvenience this surely caused." Good enough email response, right? I thought so. Since we weren't amazed by the other cleaning service, I thought, 'things happen and let's give this a chance again with GEC'. So I reached out to Jack again via email - to remind him of our last correspondence (never heard back) - but to be fair, I know he said, calling direct is better. So I did. We spoke. He had a distant memory of our email communication and it was enough to agree to a walk-through with one of his reps (who was lovely). He told me to TEXT with him because that was even faster than the call. So we had text exchanges after the rep did a walk-through and I was told I would receive an email quote. I did not. Jack stated that he would call me around noon the next day to discuss - by 1230, I had to return to my work day, so I texted and asked him to again email me the quote. He did not. He texted me a very brief, haphazard quote and I said, thanks but I would still like a detailed understanding about what package was what, as well as what would be the so-called discounted rate that he offered due to his major gaffe the first time. I got nothing - that was last Monday. I texted him again on Tuesday saying how I want to move forward. Nothing. I texted him again yesterday, offering an opportunity for a 'last chance' to redeem himself AGAIN. NOTHING. So, to all you repeat customers - I can imagine your reviews speak to being a satisfied customer, something my husband and I never had the opportunity to experience. I can't and won't dispute that. But for first time customers, perhaps we were extremely unlucky but it still doesn't take away the fact that this is EXTREMELY POOR customer service and communication. read more

We just closed on our first apartment purchase and unfortunately, the previous owners had left it FILTHY and I'm talking about crusty, food covered refrigerator, cabinets with dead roaches and roach droppings and grease covered stove tops and cabinets. Since I had to deal with packing and getting ready to move as well as a toddler and a 2 mo old, I decided to hire a professional cleaning service for the first time. I'm an extremely detail oriented person and fanatical about cleanliness so I would normally prefer to do my own cleaning but based on everything going on, I decided it was worth the cost to hire a cleaning company. After trolling through yelp, I selected Green Environment Cleaning and met with Jack to get an estimate. Jack recommended a 2.5 hour deep cleaning session with two cleaners and stated they would tackle the kitchen and bathrooms first and if they weren't able to get to everything within that timeframe, I would approve any overtime above the 2.5 hours. The fee was much higher than I anticipated but based on their excellent reputation, their use of green cleaning products and Jack's presentation, I agreed to the cost and service. The appointed day of cleaning, I was to meet the cleaning crew in the lobby of my new building since we hadn't yet moved in. I got there exactly at 9 am which was the time they were supposed to be there and found out one of the ladies had came and left. Apparently, since I wasn't there, she decided to go out and grab breakfast and let her client (me), and her coworker wait a half an hour for her to come back and start work. I made it a point to state that the kitchen and bathrooms were the priorities, especially the kitchen cabinets and then left. I expected a status phone call close to the 2.5 hour mark as Jack had stated but no call ever came. Instead, I went back to the apt and they were just getting started on the kitchen cabinets and said they needed another hour. I wasn't happy about it as I didn't anticipate paying an hour overage but agreed since the cabinets were so dirty and needed to be cleaned. I got a phone call an hour later stating they were completed and my total overage had come to 1.5 hours. I was surprised because they had said they needed just another hour but the lady explained that it had already been 20 minute past the original time. Well, I immediately called Jack and he was fair about it and agreed to only charge me the hour overage. Overall, the apt did look better than before but it wasn't as immaculate as I was hoping for. I had to point out spots in the cabinets that had been missed and it didn't have the sanitized look that I was hoping for. I could still see some roach droppings in the corners of the cabinets and it made me wonder how much they had really scrubbed or if they had merely sprayed and just wiped. Also, there was one sticky, greasy cabinet that the cleaner stated that she tried to clean but it wouldn't come off. After we moved in, my husband took a paper towel and scrubbed it just a little and some of the sticky stuff came off so I'm not sure how much attention she really gave it. I was primarily displeased after the cleaning that the ladies had not prioritized the job very well, leaving the things I really wanted cleaned (the cabinets) for last and cleaning areas that I hadn't asked for (like vacuuming the apt when I had mentioned to them that I was getting the floors redone). Anyway, it wasn't until after we moved in and I started unpacking that I saw how subpar the cleaning had been in the kitchen. I wiped down the inside of cabinets expecting to be cleaning off some minor dust from the time it had been professionally cleaned until we moved in but instead, my paper towel was coming off covered in dirt and grime. I truly felt like these ladies had just run a cloth over the surfaces and that was it which is not the definition of a "deep clean." There was also thick grease left on the stove (which Jack claimed they were going to steam clean off) and crusty stuff still left in parts of the refrigerator. The only area which they did a great job on was the bathroom. Ultimately, I was disappointed in the results and did not feel like the cleaning was worth the $500 I ended up paying. I'm also upset at how they stretched the time spent to make me pay the overage. I did text pictures of my dirty paper towels to Jack but never got a response. I suppose one dissatisfied customer in the midst of all these stellar reviews doesn't matter. And one additional note... I picked this company because they were green but they used Clorox and Ajax to clean the bathroom. I suppose that was necessary considering how dirty the bathroom was but don't claim to be green and tote products with bleach in it. read more
