Always exceptional service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect place to enjoy a leisurely lunch alone while reading, a romantic evening date or a gals get-together.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Easily my favorite restaurant in Lincoln!

Lunch special

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Wonderful restaurant in downtown Lincoln.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a party of three and got to taste each entree. Invariably there is a winner... not this time. All were delicious and I would have each based on my mood. My starter drink was a Blueberry Mojito, which hit the spot. Rum, blueberry, lime, mint, and soda. Refreshing, mild, and on ice. My wife had a cucumber gimlet. "It was incredible." Food started with a unique "flight of three" soups. We each got to taste the Lobster Bisque, French Onion, and Roasted Red Pepper Gouda soups. We each picked the French Onion as the clear winner, but the others were expertly made and tasty. My entree was a starter offering, the Tuna Poke Bowl. Scrumptious, light, and filling. Served chilled in a stone bowl with chips. The Atlantic Cod and chips were great, with a couple of dipping sauces. Perfectly fried. The third dish was a lunch special, it was a pasta dish with sun dried tomatoes, roasted baby tomatoes, in a red sauce sprinkled with feta cheese. This was so good. We broke down and ordered desserts. The Green Gateau cake is chocolatey with a hint of pistachios. Also had the Apricot Napoleon Torte which is baked up in Omaha and is renowned. Service was superb, thank you Ben! [[HIGHLIGHT]]with a relaxing atmosphere, classy decorations, and fun time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will be back!

Today is game day in nebraska. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And it was very crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were really lucky as a table just cleared. We waited for about 5 min for that table to be cleaned up and was ushered to our seat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We lucked out- our table was by the window with a view of the street[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was very nice. And we got our drinks and food very quickly. I got me the gateau iced tea- that was their special and it tasted wonderful. It was sugar free strawberry and apricot tea. Delicious. And I got me a lobster bisque and crabcake sliders The lobster bisque was delicious. Wonderful and creamy and tastefully seasoned. The crabcake sliders were delicious. Crabcakes were nicely sautéed with crispy edges. The croissants were flakey. Combined- heaven on earth. For desserts, our server actually presented all available desserts on a tray and introduced them all to us. Spoilt for choice I finally picked the green gateau their specialty choc cake with pistachio cream - it was delicious and rich. I loved it - though we just couldn't finish it. We will be back. It was a very enjoyable experience. Definitely 5 stars for us

French Slam

Ummm....wouldn't recommend brunch here, at least not take out. We had seven meals for takeout. The portion size seemed more suitable for kids meals than adult dishes. For example, I got the French Slam, which was French toast, eggs, and bacon. It included French toast from ONE slice of bread, ONE piece of bacon, and one egg. Not only was this a ridiculous portion, but it didn't include anything to put on top...butter, syrup, jam...anything?? Additionally, several members of our party had missing or incorrect sides. I expected a lot more from this restaurant and was honestly kind of embarrassed presenting this to our family.

Came here on a Monday afternoon for lunch and it wasn't too busy. Got seated right away and given menus. I ordered the French Connection Sandwich with a cup of Lobster Bisque. The bisque was okay, thick soup with a hint of seafood flavor. The sandwich was great! The bread was toasted on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside and handled the pot roast and mushroom gravy really well. I think the bacon and lettuce were unnecessary, but still ate it all. Fed me for two full meals. Would come back just for the sandwich alone. The desserts also looked really good, but that will have to wait for another time.

Of scale restaurant perfect for an evening out I guess the most dependent on your server I want to order the beef. Wellington was a disappointment. Beef cut was a mediocre cut have any topping to it crust was dry. Penne sauce was good. Lobster bisque was tasty, but had a commercial texture to it

Rueben

My favorite brunch in Lincoln when I visit. My favorites are the bloody Mary, the croque monsieur, rueben sandwich, and their lobster bisque with a salad. It is always hard to choose. I have never had anything I didn't like. On this occasion I had the monsieur and my husband had a rueben. The rueben is definitely one of the top 10 I have ever had. If you are a rueben fan, do yourself a favor and order it! Reservations are helpful!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Excellent meal, atmosphere and service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you do have a reservation, still plan for a short wait. This appears to be a popular venue! We enjoyed a starter including fresh table-side prepared guacamole, which was a fun and delicious choice served with freshly fried flour tortilla chips. The black and blue ribeye special was outstanding, along with an excellent wine pairing. My wife and I were very pleased with the waitstaff as well. Professional and fun.

Beignets + Truffle Fries
Sophia K.

My favorite restaurant in Lincoln. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cute and cozy, could be for a fancy occasion or casual, equally as good for brunch or dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I get the beignets every time, they are incredible. Service is great and everyone is very nice.

High prices but worth it. One of our favorite breakfast and/or "date night" go-to (a rare combo).

Should I make a reservation for Sunday brunch?

Definitely, yes! We walked in for Sunday brunch and waited more than an hour, along with lots of other poor planners. :P

We visited Au Courant for the first time this past weekend for my husband's birthday…read more The space is cosy and I really liked the overall ambiance they provided with the lighting (lights did slightly dim at 8). My husband wanted to try the chef's tasting menu but I unfortunately for him wasn't feeling very brave. Just a heads up; if you decide on the chefs tasting menu, everyone at your table needs to do it as well. While slightly less adventurous, we found some truly amazing dishes on their à la carte menu. For a starter, we ended up choosing the featured chovy's egg for the week which included beurre blanc, steelhead roe, and turnip. While I didn't try this myself, my husband enjoyed it. For the rest of the meal we decided to share the fagottini which was filled short rib and was placed on a bed of sweet potato with caramelized onion. The flavors on this were so delicious. The red wine they used was perfect. Next, came the pappardelle bolognese with basil and parmigiano. Again, amazing. So flavorful and so many different textures which elevated the dish so much. Last was our agreed upon favorite, the picanha that was served with a wonderful grilled/smoked cabbage and topped with hollandaise (though I think the menu said it was served with spinach and potato). I loved everything about this dish. The meat was cooked to absolute perfection and the cabbage (a total unsung hero) was delectable! I would 1000% get this dish again. We also both had their Raspberry Beret which was fantastic. A perfect summer drink. They have a little fun with their featured drinks; if the song they are named after is played during your visit, the drink is half-off! While Prince didn't end up serenading us, I do always love a little challenge! Our server was very friendly along with each staff member who brought our various dishes to us. Wow is all I have to say after visiting. I haven't loved everything I've eaten at a restaurant in such a long time. Will definitely be back!

It all did seem very lemon heavy. Maybe that was the fruit of the season for early summer. Idk. The wine pairing girl was so funny. She just had an air of silliness and chillness to her. I was wondering if she was tipsy herself. Maybe from testing the wines to remember how to describe them lol. This is a pretty cramped restaurant and the tables are small.

Would just like to point out that three people ordered the biscuits and gravy item. Usually most people expect the biscuits to be split in half with gravy all over them, this was not the case. Carmelas serves the biscuits together with a sausage patty sitting on top of the biscuit and I believe an egg on top of that then a SMALL amount of gravy on top of that. Not enough gravy to even dampen the hugh biscuits. I was glad I ordered an omelet.

However, during my most recent visit, the arrival experience was very disappointing. After entering, the host did not acknowledge me at all, and another family who arrived after me was immediately helped first. Several staff members were nearby and could have assisted or at least offered a greeting, but no one did. After waiting without acknowledgment, we ultimately decided to leave and go to another restaurant. Being ignored at the door made us feel unwelcome, and it completely changed our plans for the evening. Good service starts the moment guests walk in, and unfortunately this experience fell far below expectations.

We went on a Saturday after the farmers market so we did have to stand in line for a while, since they don't take reservations, but it was well worth the wait. The service was great! Our server was very nice - clearly busy - but had a great attitude. The food came out slowly over time, but it was spaced pretty perfectly to get through our starters and then our mains. All the food was fantastic! We got a few starters and mains for the table (highly recommend sharing). My favorite starter was probably the marinated artichoke or the bread that tasted nice and fresh. For the mains, we got some risotto, veggie lasagna, and beef cheek - the resounding favorite was the beef check! It was so tender and the jus had amazing flavor.
