This company is the worst. I decided to use them because they are a small business and I wanted to support them. They cleaned the duct work but the rest of the work was absolutely terrible. They were supposed to clean my cabinets, furniture, and walls of soot that accumulated from a kitchen fire. Terrible. They took a wet cloth and dragged it across my cabinets and furniture leaving water marks everywhere. They did not remove soot from cabinet handles, corners or inside the cabinets. Also when I asked them about the inside and dishes they took a wet cloth and wiped my dishes. I had to wash every cabinet and dish over. They mopped the floor but did not get up the soot that was ground in to the floor. It was money waisted. I am extremely disappointed. I had to hire another company to finished what Green Genie started. UGH! read more

When Ray came and inspected my basement, he asked if I wanted the good news or the bad news. The good news was that what I thought was mold wasn't actually mold at all. It was simply effervescence of the old paint on the walls. I learned that from Ray. There was no bad news. This guy was very pleasant, professional, and forthcoming with information. He even advised me on how to do preventive maintenance for the future. Green Genie was not the first company I contacted, the previous company quoted me an estimate of $5,000!! I had a previous company scheduled to come and do an assessment for some mold I found in the basement. Even though they were scheduled a week in advance, they bailed the day of. I had a baby on the way, so I was kind of in a panic to get someone out before the due date (literally two days away). I called Green Genie and Mike (the owner) was over within a couple hours. Unlike some of the other companies that I called, Mike was reassuring and didn't try to play on my fears as a means to extract more money. Mike provided his analysis and then scheduled to come back the next day to do the actual work (he stated that an assessment wasn't required because the mold was less than 10 sq ft). In terms of what he actually did: 1) he cut out some of the compromised drywall, 2) he treated the studs and 3) he cleaned the carpet to remove any of the mold from the carpet fibers. Ultimately he was punctual, friendly, and very thorough. I'm quite satisfied with the service I received from Mike and would highly recommend Green Genie to anyone who (unfortunately) may be looking for similar services. read more

So the only reason that I am giving this company, a one star rating is due to the fact the gentleman, Ken, that came out was nice. Make a long story short we needed a cleaning company to come and clean our home due to findings of mold. so, before we even knew of this issue, we had a serious plumbing issue that had to be handled. We had to find so many different people. JR Swanson was actually the company that recommended Green Genie to us. Upon the findings, Ken stated that we had mold almost everywhere in our home, and he stated that in order to tell if there was mold in the walls, that the possibly affected walls would have to be torn down. We were also told we had an excessive amount of mold in our attic and basement, we couldn't utilize the doors that lead to these two locations due to the findings that Ken found. By the time he left my home, I was definitely feeling like I had to move out of my house. He told me that he will get back with me within 24 hours via email to send a proposal pertaining to what needed to be done and how much it was going to cost. He also spoke on actions of going to my homeowners insurance, he stated it will be a big project, and that due to costs that we may need to file a claim with the homeowners insurance. At this time I'm feeling a bit infuriated, because not only is there all the substantial amount of damage in my home, but it's also going to cost a fortune. Yesterday, September 15 is when he came out and all though he was nice, he was supposed to have been at my house at 10:30 and ended up arriving late in the early after noon time so in the meantime I was on my lunch break and thought that this was going to be a pretty easy and quick process , so basically I still proceeded with the appointment. but then once Ken got to my attic door which is also in my boys room, he stated that he wanted to steal it off for the purposes of the children so he grabbed Plastic wrap and duct tape, and taped the door sealing off the attic w/ our clothing and shoes in there and stated that we could not go in there to get anything unless the restoration team comes with the proper gear and gets the items out of the attic. Upon speaking with my family that covers These expenses, we started to feel a bit skeptical about a few things that were mentioned. So this morning came as well as this afternoon and we noticed that we did not receive a proposal as promised within 24 hours. So we went ahead and started looking at other places to call . And i am not going to name the place That came out today. But their findings was completely different than this company's findings. First of all, when it came to the attic, being sealed, the company noticed that the door was not sealed properly, due to the fact that the only two materials that was used with saran wrap, and duck tape. they also discovered in the attic that there was literally not one finding of mold. They said that it was actually the most intact, attic that they have seen in quite some time. So it was a little disappointing to me that I seriously had this big scare of not only all of my things becoming damaged, but also for my children's health to be affected due to the door being in their room and it's door had to be sealed off and the crazy part is that this company that I had come out today for a second opinion did not see one sign of mold in my attic, and only seen a minimal amount of mold in my downstairs bathroom, as well as mold in my basement and in my ceiling in my living room. I know this is probably a review that is a bit long for someone to read but I'm writing this long review because for one I don't really write reviews but simply because this situation happened to me and it happened so recent, and I am so upset and disappointed by, these results that I've gotten from this company. I honestly do not recommend for anyone to go to them at this point. I really started to realize that it was definitely a money scheme because the other company simply told me instead of having to tear down my walls, that they would put a small drill hole in my wall and insert their camera to seek if there is any further mold damage . I also noticed the gentleman's uniform attire was not appropriate. Anytime that there is any sign of possible mold, I always recommend for a mask or even some type of materials or something. I've never had our carpets or furniture professionally cleaned, just always did it ourselves. We used to rent the Rug Doctor, then we actually bought a machine, since we have dogs and small kids. When I came home the day of our cleaning, everything smelled and looked great, and I was happy with the communication of the company. However, a few days later, I started noticing a musty smell coming from one of my couches. It's in the sides of the cushions, it's like they never properly dried before the man put them back on the couch. I've tried washing by hand to get the must smell out to no avail. I was initially impressed with his knowledge and commitment to cleaning in an environmentally favorable manner. I had a mold problem when I called, and he recommended that only a dry-clean type of cleaning and sanitization was recommended; no sense in adding water to an already too-moist area, which made complete sense. He did some extra work to make it look better, and it turned out beautifully. I was super stressed about making decisions about mold remediation because it's expensive, but there is a lot of work involved, so it's understandable. What I don't remember is making any commitments to have Green Genie do any of the work, and, honestly, if I had remembered, I probably wouldn't have hesitated to have them do it. I'm not sure how I found the name of the company that I did end up hiring, but they did a good job, and it was a relief to be able to breathe again, even though my retirement account hurt a little bit. When I called after the mold had been taken care of to see if there was something that could be done with the stain that had reappeared, I explained that I had had work done and was met with a frosty reception because I didn't hire Green Genie to do it. That whole time was a very hard for me, and I am just relieved that it's over, but there seem to be hard feelings on the part of Green Genie because I didn't use them for the mold remediation. Therefore I was given kind of a shove-off answer to my question. They said there really isn't anything that can be done, which I guess happens, but the delivery lacked any conviction that a friendly resolution would happen. After draining out four inches of water the night before due to a sump pump issue, I called Green Genie after reading a few reviews online and decided to give them a chance at our basement clean-up. We have a mostly furnished basement. Mike answered right away on a Friday morning. He was ready to quote me at my house mid-day. We did obtain a few quotes and were astonished at the amounts more corporate businesses wanted to charge. Mike was honest the entire time and trust worthy. He also acted really quickly with his team. Basement floods mean you need to act urgently in drying to prevent mold and further damage. Within three days the equipment dried everything up. His team came on the last day to do carpet cleaning. When I got home I noticed a spot that was troublesome (cat litter from the flood had become embedded in the carpet...booooo!) I called them back and asked about the spot and they apologized thinking it wasn't a pre-existing discoloration of the carpet. Without question or any difficulty they had someone there the next morning and took care of the embedded cat litter spot that had been left behind in the flood's wake. I was informed by family the worker was really putting in a lot of TLC to fix this spot (really appreciated!) The carpets look amazing now. I am very impressed with the companies professionalism, fair pricing, responsiveness and honesty. I am also almost glad we had a flood because it prompted the cleaning of my basement.
