This was the blandest meat I'd ever tasted as if it had been washed. The taste was also not beef taste I started referring to it as alley cat bc the odd flavor. It's a pity the food came out so sketchy it made me question the source bc we sat outside and it was beautiful and everyone from the hostess to the waiter was a sweetie. I've been reading other reviews and it would seem to be the general consensus that the food quality has gone downhill over the last couple years!

I don't eat refried beans so I can't review them. But that shrimp chimichanga....I feel like it needs a review all by itself! The shrimp were chopped a little, which I found myself liking more than having whole ones in there, and seasoned and grilled to the heavens! Whew!!!! That had to be the best chimichanga I've ever had! This was so good and I can't stop thinking about it. I brought the leftovers home and plan to heat it up in the air fryer. I know it will still be good!

Carniceria Valdez is literally a counter in the back of a Mexican grocery, but coming out of that kitchen is some mighty fine Mexican food. I went with a couple of tacos and a gordita. For the gordita, I went with chorizo as the protein and for the tacos I went with the asada and the barbacoa. The tacos were just under two dollars each ($1.99 to be exact) and the gordita was, I believe, $3.50. I probably enjoyed the gordita the most and the chorizo was definitely my favorite protein out of my three choices. The staff was friendly enough, though the ordering process was you walk up to the counter and order your meal and they call you up when it is ready. All in all, I would definitely recommend here and I will give it five stars.

I am not really sure what the extra $5 is for since they put the cheese dip in a 5 cents Styrofoam cup and the chips in a 5 cents paper bag but the really insane part was when I asked the manager for an extra bag of chips since it was 4 of us that was going to be sharing the dip. He said no only 1 bag of chips. I proceeded to ask him if they charge the customer extra if they request an extra basket of chips and he said yes. If this is true Salsa's would be the only Mexican restaurant I have ever been too that would only give the table one basket of chips and then start charging if they want another basket. The manager of this restaurant should never be front of house dealing with customers because he doesn't speak English very good and does nothing to give the customer a good experience. #1 Salsa's Grill is way overpriced compared to other Mexican restaurants. It is in an old Shoney's building and the property is not being maintained. The city should go in to inspect this establishment. Here are some other Mexican restaurants in the area that have great customer service and has great value for their food. El Potrillio, Margaritas Mexican restaurant, Panchos Cantina & Grill. These restaurants will not charge you extra for a second basket of chips and will give you much better service. I felt like I was on candid camera and somebody was going to jump out and say fooled you. That's how bad the service was and how crazy it is that a manager in a Mexican restaurant would charge you for a second basket of chips. Avoid Salsa's Mexican rundown restaurant and save yourself the headache.
