What a disappointment our experience here was today. We'd just finished a 6 mile hike with much climbing and were famished. We saw this place on Yelp and were nearby so came in. Let's start with the menu. Lots of interesting sounding dishes. However we had to ask for a description of several items. The staff person mumbled a few things and seemed put out we asked. After going through some of the items we both chose something to order however, each time we gave the young man order, he'd say "we don't have it". I'd say close to 1/3 of menu was not available. So we settled on our order yet really bummed the food we wanted was not an option. The food- so underwhelming. My friend & I eat Indian food often and we're so looking forward to satisfying our hunger. My food didn't not taste like Indian food in the least. The rice was way overcooked and my dish resembled spaghetti. My friend said hers was tasty but the size of an appetizer. The naan was the worst I've had- extremely tiny, dry and no flavor (we ordered garlic). When we left, even though we were quite displeased, we said thank you & good-bye. I'm happy that there's a place like this that is vegan friendly in Guerneville. The food itself was okay to good, for example, the potato cakes were probably a B but the chutney dipping sauce for it brought it up to a B+. The butter chicken had good ingredients but the flavor wasn't very strong so I'd say C+. The Saag paneer was decent. Maybe like a B+. The garlic naan better: A-. read more

WOW! I cannot tell you how great the food is. I guess the tell tale sign is the aroma of homemade food coming from the kitchen. You walk in and it smacks you in the face. Accessible Indian Food. The food here is DELICIOUS! Like whoa. We had the butter chicken and Chana Paneer Herbal tea garlic naan and samosas. Every bite of everything is delicious. Made perfectly. I don't know how they do it. I was about to go on a water fast and this was what I wanted my last meal to be. The owner is so sweet and talented. It tastes like fresh ingredients. She even cooks the chicken in a separate place so there is no cross contamination for vegans. I personally eat chicken and theirs tastes healthy and clean. Very thoughtful place! Everything is delicious even the table near us that had all different things like the Fried oyster sandwich loved theirs as well. If you like wonderful food go here. Curry bowls were very flavorful. I think I preferred the butter chicken over the tikka. Beware of the heat! I prefer mild but my husband liked both being spicy. Awesome food! Fresh and delicious. Good selections with GF and vegetarian option's. My brother visiting from Texas chose the delicious chicken salad with fresh fruit walnuts and raisins. I've been meaning to try this place for a while and glad I finally did. I'm always looking for good vegetarian food. I had the Super Bowl salad and added a Chana patty. The salad was fresh and delicious with mixed greens, spinach and vegetables. The Chana patty was good too. I detected a hint of spiciness I also had the blackberry sage lemonade and it was delicious - not too sweet. There was real fruit in there! I will definitely be back. read more

Tried for the first time today! Ordered takeout, but next time will dine in. Unassuming place in a mini strip mall on the main drag in Guerneville. Friendly people, clean, good aromas... Placed my order over the phone - fries, the crispy chick'n sandwich and the blackberry-sage lemonade. I know better than to order fries to go when I have more than a 5-minute drive back to my destination, but I took a chance. I typically like my fries a little under done and almost requested this but figured I'd see how they are cooked w/o that request. Special request for the sandwich was to replace the cucumber with pickles and put the sauce on the side. I asked what comes on the sandwich and the nice man said, lettuce, tomato, onion and cucumber. Onion is probably *the* most essential ingredient of any sandwich for me.... and I'm mad-crushing on pickles on sandwiches these days. The fries were all really hard, save for a few. Cooked well done, but not killed. Just crispier than I like (i seek out the soggy/squishy fries before all others). They are thin fries like you'd find at a popular fast food chain (starts with an M), and that was appealing to me. Got back to the office and found no onion and no pickle on the sandwich. But there was cucumber, tomato, and a mixed green lettuce (spinach, arugula). The crispy oyster mushroom was really quite tasty. The batter used has a whole lot of flavor. And the sauce is not nearly as spicy as I was expecting, which is a good thing. I like spice, but wasn't sure what level this would be, and I wasn't hankering for really spicy. I was bummed about the lack of my special requests, BUT - the sandwich was really good. And I do like those other ingredients. Just was craving that pickle flavor and the onion crunch. No bigs. The lemonade was really good, if but a touch on the sweeter side. I'd get that again. But I'm curious about the other lemonades too. So, maybe this week I'll head out there and try again, in-house! :D Didn't get a pic, but the food was packaged in compostable containers. We came here hoping to get fresh healthy food for lunch, however, it was a disappointing experience. The gravies tasted stale, had familiar taste of canned or frozen puries. The naan was definitely the small frozen naan which we get at Indian grocery stores. The tea was so bad that we ended up throwing it in the trash can outside the store. The lady at the front desk was polite but the other male was rude and didn't care about customer service at all. The only thing we liked was the fries. We've been here a handful of times and REALLY want to support them. The gentleman who is usually there is not the friendliest and that is a little off putting. The food is delicious and so happy they have vegan options that are satisfying. I wish you would add a family menu so like masala, rice and salad for a family of 4, but family priced too. As many others have stated, we were very pleasantly surprised. So you may wonder why we would be surprised if we read those reviews ahead of time, but the menu in the photos just didn't look like they would have something we would want. And one reviewer said everything was spicy and we aren't huge spicy fans. But we went because it was close and we were looking for something light, quick, and relatively inexpensive. Well this hit all of those and more so. I had a Super Bowl salad with chik'n. Now I am not a vegan and I don't like fake meat, so if they had a real chicken option I would have chosen it. But the chik'n was great. It was mushroom based and coated and fried like chicken and I really liked it. I would order it again even if they did have a chicken option. And the salad was fresh and citrusy and lightly sweet. My only complaint is that a large is not really that large for the price and when you add the chick'n you are basically paying $17 for a salad. The gourmet salad I had at a nicer sit down restaurant the other night cost less than that. And I would have preferred less dressing. (And not that any salad would be spicy, but this one was definitely not). My wife had the chicken tikka masala, which has real chicken, and that was also quite good and a good size portion. And it was not spicy. Her naan was also good. All in all, we really liked it. They actually have a good variety of options, including some interesting teas and lattes, all geared around health and healing, but we were not adventurous enough to try any of those this time. If we are in the area again, Green Grill will definitely be on our go-to list. read more

The food here is very good. Proper Indian spices. My chief concerns are related to the customer experience. I have called four times to place pick up orders and not once has anyone answered the phone. One of these times I decided to go to the restaurant and it was closed a full hour early than the advertised times of business. I have lived in the Guerneville area over 15 years and it is amazing to have such options. Food just smells and tastes of trans fats. Very off-putting. They were out of several menu items that were my first choices. That made me feel bad for the guy behind the counter. Settled for a mushroom burger and seasoned fries. Couldn't eat most of the burger and sadly the so-so fries were better than the burger. I've been here twice now and the food is exceptional. Love the chana mushroom burger. It has a good amount of veggies and I liked the garlic sauce. The burger is not a meaty texture- if that's what you're looking for and you like a bit of a spicy kick, then get the oyster chick'n sandwich. The caffeinated Chai is very satisfying. I'm usually disappointed in chai lattes but this one has good real black chai flavor, isn't too sweet, and I liked the slightly nutty texture from the cashew mylk. I haven't tried it, but they also have real chicken dishes if you prefer real meat. So there's something for everyone! The service is great. The lady is a sweetheart; greets you with a hello and a bright smile. At this establishment you go up and order the food, grab your utensils etc and sit down. When you're done there's a bin on top of the garbage that you put the dirty dishes in. When we were looking for a table, unfortunately there were two dirty ones, leaving us with the one closest to the bathroom that looked presentable but ended up being sticky. The food was okay. I don't know where to start with this review. I ventured into the Green Grill based on some online photos I saw of the food and, most importantly, its menu. I'm not vegan or even vegetarian, but I appreciate all kinds of food, and their "Crispy Chik'N Sandwich caught my eye -- a crispy fried oyster mushroom burger, and it was delicious. It was everything I hoped for in the description, with a delicious house sauce. The service was courteous and responsive. You'll find Green Grill on Main Street, between Church and Mill Street. It is not in the block where most of the restaurants are located. Seek it out and try something different. You will not be disappointed. We're locals, and are always hoping for new places to eat in town with interesting good food at a reasonable price (preferably with takeout) that appeals to both locals and visitors. Green Grill definitely hits the sweet spot. Everything is organic, gluten free, and vegan, and is sort of repurposed Indian food into a burgers and salads concept. We're not gluten free or vegan, but we love the food, and it's a nice thing for folks in one of those categories. The fresh buns on the meatless burgers are excellent; you'd never know they were gluten free, and are just as good as fresh white bread buns from a bakery. The "burger" patties themselves are a mashup of all kinds of vegetables, starting with either chickpeas or mung beans, but taking off from there. Everything is very tasty and very filling. We keep coming back, and hope Green Grill becomes a standard fixture in town. read more

We love the Guerneville area and have come up quite a bit to take a respite from the bay area. However, the food scene is pizza, burgers, and fries until we discovered The Green Grill. You would miss it if you were walking by as it is in a nondescript strip mall near a liquor store. However, once you walk in, you notice a clean store with an amazing Indian menu slightly Westernized for the American consumer (french fries, burgers). We ordered an amazing turmeric lemonade and blackberry sage lemonade - both were delicious. We ordered the Tikka masala over rice, a Chana burger (grilled chickpea patty), and the fries with special green grill seasoning. I was beyond impressed, and the salad was fresh! It was all delicious, fresh and had a variety of flavor. I enjoy the occasional vegetarian meal, but I'm a carnivore-leaning omnivore at heart. And Green Grill was a real treat for me! Service was a little slow, but nothing more than you'd get at a non-fast food restaurant.
