I'm a local and have been going to Farmhand for years. Love the food and the local vibe. Had family from out of state come visit and we went to Farmhand. Everything was great as usual except they charged me a $25 automatic tip for having 6 people. Nobody served us, we picked up our food from the front counter and cleaned up our table. Don't know what the $25 charge was. I'll be sure never to go back. Great food with hidden fees. read more

Met a friend for lunch on Thursday and we had the place to ourselves for the most part. My friend ordered a couple salads from the deli case, Brussels and pasta salad and she enjoyed them. I ordered the giver sandwich off the specials menu and it was so so so good. I love brie so it was off to a great start, turkey, bacon, cranberry arugula and caramelized onions all on a soft delicious roll. I was very happy with my sandwich, and it was so hefty I took more than half home with me. We sat on the porch in the sun with a lovely view of the river. They have gluten free bread! I had an excellent Reuben sandwich. It was hot and tasty. My husband also enjoyed his Reuben. I also had a nice latte. They have a section with vintage toys for sale, a coffee cart, pastries, and yogurt parfaits. There are freezers filled with take home meals. This place has everything you can need. There's really comfortable and beautiful inside and outside seating. The people working were so nice and took extra steps to make sure my sandwich would not be contaminated by gluten. Grabbing lunch before/after a float down Russian River? I got a fat sandwich from Farmhand! The space is decorated well with plenty of indoor/patio/outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is right on the river which was nice! The sandwiches are a little pricey, but sooo huge! There's a wide variety, and you can customize. The Farmhand is an unassuming deli by the riverside that offers delicious freshly made sandwiches, cold pastas and sides, and coffee. The deli itself has a variety of eating spaces - outside by the lot, inside, and outside on the patio by the Russian River. The interior is quirky and decorated with unique antique pieces. We thoroughly enjoyed the sandwiches, much more than some of the other sandwich places in the Russian River area for the same cost. They were warm, fresh, flavorful, and generously sized and worth the value. I'd say 4.5 would be more accurate. Stopped here for lunch after a hike & it hit the spot. The interior is pretty cool with multiple options (inside & out) so don't let the sign saying market & deli fool you. They also have a coffee bar and my friend & I loved our ice lattes. The employee who made them was super nice. One friend had the pastrami panini and said it was yummy. I had the Brie & apple panini- it tasted great but the ratio of apples over the Brie was quite out numbered and although the bread was good it didn't hold up well so I needed a fork to eat it. We sat on the back patio which offers great views of the Russian River. I believe there is beach access here (not positive). We saw Adirondack chairs, tables & hammocks on the grassy area below. The best sandwiches!! We look forward to coming here every time we visit guerneville. Our favorites are the hot pastrami and the Reuben. They also have many snacks and sodas for sale. Sandwiches come out hot and quick. There is seating overlooking the river which is a lovely ambiance. In the town of Guernville there is a place called Farmhand. Where life is in no hurry or haste. There you will find simple good food. There is a small parking lot that is available to both new and returning customers. You're in the right place when you see the bright red inviting Farmhand and teal pickup truck out front. Traveling with beloved furry canines? There is an outdoor patio adorned with quirky collectibles ready to welcome them. At the early hour of opening, it was relaxing to have the Russian river and views of the distant Redwoods to ourselves. Either order up at the register with the friendly staff or with their online service farmhand.net In the front there are also a variety of refrigerated drinks and snacks for purchase. In the back there is a display of baked pastries for the day. The hot pastrami sandwich with swiss cheese, pickles, red onions, and pepperoncini on sourdough was delicious! There was even a crunchy pickle spear on the side. Something I wish all sandwiches came with. I have a tendency to steer away from biscuits and gravy, but these were home made and comforting. I would definitely order again especially on a cold morning. Their eggless potato salad was my favorite. We actually came back for it twice! Friendly staff. My sandwich was yummy and they have gluten free bread! They also cut my sandwich; Thank you! Everything tasted fresh and it was filling. The inside was not what I was expecting esthetically. It was very comfy and simple. I was in a rush so I didn't walk around a lot, and I know I saw snacks and perhaps gifts in one part of the shop. There's a bit of sitting indoors, there's also an indoor dining patio, and lots of seats outside overlooking the river. Seems possible to picnic out in the summer. There is a parking lot I missed from the West. I had an important call come in and took it while pacing in the lot. There were some old scales out there I imagine used to weigh fish and other things to keep my adhd brain distracted from being hungry on the call I'll go back for a sandwich next time I'm in town. While visiting the area we decided this looked like the perfect spot to have lunch. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by staff. There were no prices listed anywhere, but we figured it would be a little pricey considering the location. We ordered 4 sandwiches, 3 drinks from the cooler and 1 side of potato salad. And were shocked when it was $100! After checking the reviews of this place we noticed people mentioning the automatic gratuity charge. I did recall her mentioning "don't worry about adding gratuity, it is already included in your total" I agree with other reviews that It is very off putting to charge almost a $20 tip for yourself and seems to be taking advantage of customers. Especially when it is not a full service place And the prices are already a tad high. I could justify the higher prices for the beautiful scenery and dining experience but the automatic gratuity for 5 people (2 adults, 3 kids) is a greedy look. And why we would not return. read more

** The hours are incorrect on Google & Yelp- they close at 4pm (not 5pm) The staff always really lovely and it's hard to beat the river view- even in the winter thanks to their enclosed back patio! The food is consistently delicious but I recently got the portobello mushroom panini and was disappointed. Although tasty- calling it a portobello mushroom panini is a stretch. It looked a little thin at first glance but I didn't think too much of it until I got about 1/4 through and suddenly had bites with no mushroom in it all. It MAYBE had one entire mushroom cap on the whole sandwich and I ultimately pulled it apart to combine the mushrooms to one side. I'll be back but I won't be ordering this again. read more

We ordered the potatoes and avocado toast. Unfortunately, the potatoes seemed like they had been prepared much earlier (or possibly the day before) - they were dry, cold, and had a slightly bitter taste. The avocado toast was different from what we expected. We're used to fresh avocado on two slices of toast with scrambled eggs, but this version had only one slice of toast and an avocado mixture rather than fresh slices. Stopped by the korbel cellar and on our way to the Sonoma coast. This roadside deli is just 5 mins from the cellar. Super friendly staff and a nice view to the Russian river. It was a cold day and we had the French dip and the chili. The chili came with a corn bread on the side and it was so yummy. There is a deli and a coffee bar inside. Would have been a nice place to hang outside if the weather was better. Either way they provide cozy indoor seating with huge windows overlooking the river. read more

I give this 5/5 Service: quick and efficient. You order at the counter, they give you a buzzer, and when food is ready, you walk over to pick it up. Also, you pay for groceries at the counter as well. This is where I am going to give this place 1/5 star and here is why:, they have a laminated notice at the cash register stating that 20% mandatory tips for party of 5 OR $75 of purchase or more. This is NOT a full service restaurant. First of all, for them to make it 20% mandatory tip when I have to stand at the counter to order, get my own water, and pick up my own food, I feel being taken advantaged of. Second, think about this: if you just come there to get groceries or a couple bottles of wine, and your grocery bill comes out say $80 (over $75), they're gonna charge you $16 for just bringing up your groceries. That's outrageous and it is just frankly off putting! Safeway, Trader's Joe, Whole Foods, etc never expect their customers to tip their cash register staff but this place makes it mandatory 20% tips for 5-person counter service and grocery purchase of $75 or more. This is what I call taking advantage of customer's generosity and it is just plain wrong! read more
