Green jade is a quiet little gem. Doesn't seem like much more than your standard Chinese restaurant doing mostly take out, but the service is very good and the food has never failed to please. Always a good place for familiar Chinese cuisine. I believe they added Japanese items but I haven't tried them yet. read more

Updated review. Have tried them a few times in the last year or so. Seems like ownership/staff has changed. Food used to be generally above average for fast food chinese, now it's definitely just average or below. Chicken lo mein had almost no discernible chicken or veggies. The noodles were chopped up, and the chicken and veggies that were provided were unappetizing. The lo mein used to have much better flavor too, now it's just blah. Chicken with garlic sauce also was a favorite, and it's definitely changed. Sauce used to be flavorfull and didn't have that weird gelatenous and oily consistency many places have. Well now is has it. It also had a funny taste to it initially was eventually overpowered by the garlic (I assume). Even the egg rolls seem different. They were above average, and are not very good. Overall the freshness and quality that were once there are gone. I wish I knew where the old owners and staff went. read more

This used to be our go-to take out for Chinese food. Last night we ordered pork and mushroom. Theirs used to be the best. When I opened the container each piece of pork was 70% inedible fat. I gave up trying to separate the meat from the fat and threw it in the garbage.Did they even look at it before they put it in the container? I would like to take the food back to Green Jade and see if the person who put that together would eat that. The shrimp and cashews was okay. The shrimp was very good, but as you can imagine, it was mostly a bowl full of carrots and celery. The egg roll was exactly as we expected. The chicken on a stick was super dry. They're not even trying anymore, and, after a decade, we are finding a new restaurant for Chinese food. read more

Mick Jagger's daughter is an environmentalist, hence her nickname "Green Jade." She also owns this place. Oh wait. Anyway, I'm totally spoiled by the Chinese restaurants up in Amherst (Peking Quick One, Mandarin Garden, Gin Gin, China King on Maple, Home Taste) which all sell real authentic home-style Chinese food. Nom nom nom. Green Jade is nothing like that. It's utterly Americanized, with cheap prices and pretty decent service. Their Curry Shrimp (my go-to Americanized Chinese dish) is decent but not special. I can't give it more than a 4, but with prices this low and service this nice, I won't give it less either. Ordered pork fried rice, chicken lo mein, and sesame chicken that were fine. Your average chinese food. The order of crab rangoons was definetly not right. Tasted rotten inside like something was spoiled. We both had to spit it out without swallowing and the taste really ruined our appetites for anything else. We will not be coming back. read more

Update! Something is different here, I wasn't as pleased as I've been in the past. The bbq spareribs are very tough and dry ( needs more sauce!) and I asked and paid extra for chicken fried rice on the side. The chicken was weird in texture and looked gross, I found a huge chunk of raw onion in my rice and aside from that it was lacking in any flavor. The egg rolls are noticeably smaller as well. At first I was a little taken back by the long wait but soon realized that this place was highly valued by everyone in line for their order. Wow is all I have to say. My wife and I ordered the Dragon & Phoenix, which consisted of the best General Tso chicken I hav ever had along-side very large and succulent shrimp, in a unique black bean sauce with mixed vegetables. We also ordered the Singapore Mai-fun. If you like curry and spice, this might be one of the best noodle dishes you have ever tried. We were both very impressed and finished everything in one sitting. Thank you for a high quality product with attention to detail at a great value. Oh my GOSH, was just so disappointed! Have ordered a bunch of times from this restaurant in the past, only to be delivered this time what I can only describe as really bad food! We got the General Tsao's chicken along with the fried dumplings and crab rangoon. The chicken was WAY over cooked, with almost no sauce on it. The crab rangoon literally had almost NO cream cheese mixture in it ..and actually tasted a bit off...like spoiled?! The potstickers/fried dumplings were NOTHING like they used to serve. I know these people and they had shown me their frozen packages from their previous vendor! Used to be a larger portion of the seasoned pork inside a very THIN, crispy outside. Now, they were limp, smelled of rancid oil, and also the tiniest amount of pork filling. JUST SO DISAPPOINTED AS THEY WERE MY "GO TO" THE FEW TIMES A YEAR I WOULD TREAT MYSELF AND MY SON TO CHINESE TAKE OUT??!! read more

Tonight was my second time ordering Green Jade through DoorDash. The hot and sour soup is the perfect amount of heat and always comes full of mushrooms and very flavorful. The eggroll is classic and tasty. I ordered the Szechuan chicken and that is also delicious. The only reason I didn't give this food five stars is because I ordered a house salad for $2.75 and it had four strips of lettuce and one cherry tomato. $2.75 is not a lot of money but for the amount of effort and materials put into the salad it should've been free. I have been going to Green Jade for years due to its close proximity to my apartment. A few years ago, it closed for a while and it was just ok before. A new family re-opened it and then it was even better. Doesn't even compare to any other similar take-out places around here. Surprised to see some of the older reviews and wonder if that was from when they were under previous ownership. Ordering is easy and the girl who takes orders always speaks clearly and is very friendly on the phone and in person when paying. They will ask for your phone number rather than name and you can give it them when you come in. When I order takeout, it is always ready in 10-15 minutes. I have had maybe once where they told me 20 minutes. There are some basic tables if you want to eat in and/or wait. The place always looks clean and well maintained and you can see back into the kitchen from the front door and it looks neat. Everything comes out hot, fresh, and with lots of flavor. The servings are huge in size and every container is stuffed until it can barely close. The veggies in all the stuff I have tried are really good. I love pepper steak and the green peppers are fresh, huge chunks that still have some crunch so you know they aren't frozen/cooked ahead and just thrown in. The steak is super tender as well. I have tried many of the chicken dishes and like them a lot. I like the chicken lo-mein (but the flavors of the veggie wasn't my favorite). The sauces are not too salty (even for salt-sensitive me) and are flavorful. Their wanton soup is soooo good and my go-to if I am sick. The little side portion with the combo dinner comes with 3 big wontons and the broth is very tasty. I like that for the chicken dishes, they have smaller pieces of chicken (like for the sweet and sour chicken) and not huge blobs. The pork fried rice also tastes like pork, not just white rice with some pork thrown in. Prices are very reasonable. Check out the lunch specials and all-day combo meals. Green Jade makes me miss the hole-in-the-wall Chinese place in Boston, MA that served crappy food only made palatable with lots of booze (oh hai, Pu Pu Hot Pot); meaning that even splitting a bottle of wine couldn't help Green Jade's fare. The chicken was rubbery and looked like it had been through some sort of unnatural food processing. The veggies were few in number, and something about the noodles tasted a little off. I also had a bite of my husband's veggie egg roll, and it kind of tasted like fried sneakers. Seriously, I could have bought a PF Chang's frozen dinner bag, run over it with my car a few times, and got the same result. Said husband ordered General Tso's chicken, and he claimed, "it was just 'meh.' Too syrupy." But here's the thing. I apparently am the only one out of 23 people who didn't like my dinner, so I guess I'd urge you to give this place a try anyway. Maybe you'd find it appealing; maybe tonight was an off night. I thing most mom 'n pops are at least worth a shot by all. Lastly, I found the woman who took my order over the phone to be very polite, and delivery arrived quickly. When we dug in, the food was still piping hot. That's a definite plus over Yings Wings and Things, where your order could take two hours to arrive. Bottom line: Did I like it? Best Chinese I've ever had. To be fair I do get the same thing every time. The sesame chicken is delicious. Perfect sauce and the chicken seems a better quality than most places I have tried. A lot of places you always seem to get that chewy mystery meat piece. Not this place! Always tasty chicken. The lo mien is the best I've ever had. Both the chicken and the vegetable are great. They give you big portions for the price. The restaurant is very clean and they are quick wroth their orders. Seems now of a take out place than a sit down restaurant. I have been an avid Chinese food fan for close to thirty years. I have lived in the WNY area for almost eight years now and have yet to find an overall good chinese takeout place. I found this restaurant this afternoon via Yelp and decided to give it a try for dinner. I definitely won't be trying it again. I found copies of their menu online and called in to place a pick-up for combination plates. The girl that answered said the online menu hasn't been updated in years so I told her what we wanted and she said it would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived about thirty minutes after placing the order and it was just getting completed. My order was a boneless spare-rib combination plate w/ pork fried rice, a General Tso combination plate w/pork fried rice and an order of crab rangoon. Overall the food was quite bad. The rice looks (and tastes) like heavily buttered white rice with very little pork/peas/carrots and onions mixed in. The only flavor that my wife and I could taste in it was butter and salt. It is without a doubt the worst pork fried rice we've ever had. (If you could even call it that, its more akin to a buttered sticky white rice) Even buffet or frozen pork fried rice is better than this. I did pick up a paper menu while I was there and there is a colored picture of some of their food, including the rice. I compared what I got to what was in the picture and it's not even close. The picture shows a yellow colored rice (which I assume is the norm in WNY) Whereas ours was clearly white. Not much to say about the boneless ribs, they seem to be standard at every place in this area. The General Tso tasted like a rubbery sweet and sour chicken. It was overloaded with syrup, had very little flavor and was not spicy at all. (it's listed as spicy as Tso is supposed to be)The two included egg rolls were bland, all you can taste is cabbage. Very little pork inside. The crab cheese rangoons were decent, nothing special. The people that work there were friendly, and the store was pretty clean. Also was stocked up on napkins, chop sticks etc. I asked the girl behind the counter if the online menu was going to be updated and she just kind of laughed about it. The online menu states that combination plates are $6.25 and includes pork fried rice, an egg roll and choice of soup or soda. In reality the prices range from $6.75 - $7.25 and do not include the soup or soda. As for the portions, the container is about an inch deep. The type chinese places normally use for lunch combination plates. Will definitely not recommend this place or order from again. More than half of what we ordered went into the trash. We ordered the Happy Family dish which is a stir fry of a bit of everything, including lobster, BBQ pork, shrimps and chicken - very tasty and HUGE portion that lasted 3 meals. Less happy about the curry chicken. I asked the lady at the counter if the curry chicken was spicy (I don't eat spicy but I love mild curries). She said their curry chicken was not spicy. Of course, when we got home, this dish was blisteringly hot. Our order was rounded-off with potstickers - it wasn't the most traditional format, but it was pretty good. For a fast American-Chinese food restaurant this place is pretty good. If I was to categorize it, it's typical fast food. They are very generous with their portions and quick to deliver. The menu is the same restaurant menu that most have printed, order from, and they give you the same pictures on the wall behind the counter to look at. The dining room is very cold, temperature wise so your best to order takeout or bring a blanket. Nothing real special. If I was in the area and needed my fix for lunch, I'd stop again. But I wouldn't go out of my way, because right down the street is the same type restaurant, offering the same type of cuisine. read more

My first time at the Green Jade restaurant. Was looking on line to try a Chinese restaurant I never been to before and Green Jade looked good and had great reviews. I drove from Orchard Park to French Rd and ordered Chicken with garlic sauce. It was the worse Chinese food I have ever eaten. Way too spicy and the green peppers, snow peas and broccoli were over cooked. The broccoli was like a sponge and when it was chewed I found it saturated with a sickly sweet hot/spicy sauce. The very few pieces of chicken were cooked but again the sauce was too hot to enjoy. Didn't want to drive back there but called with my complaint. Don't know if the lady was playing me but she couldn't remember my order which was 1/2 hour earlier. I didn't want anything in place of the order, but I wanted them to know how bad their food was. If you are used to heavy dark yellow rice, large wontons, thick soup, nasty noodles, Green Jade makes it All better. They have light rice, thin wontons (the real way), great noodles and much more. I gave Green Jade a try last night since it is so close to my home. I bought the General Tso chicken and beef and broccoli.. I was terribly disappointed by the meal. the Chicken was very tiny, fatty, greasy pieces. Tso is my favorite Chinese dish so this was very upsetting. That being said, the beef and broccoli was worse. larger pieces of meat, but they were very fatty and rubbery. Also, heavy on the grease. Woke up at 2am sick to my stomach as well. Perhaps, just a terrible first impression, but I would pay the extra $2-3 for the high quality Asian food they have at Kumo on Transit Road. Your wallet may be lighter, but your taste buds and digestive system will like you a lot better. I gave it 1 star for price and the staff was very nice.
