I was expecting the price in Depew would be a bit cheaper than the duchess county/Westchester area, but the Miso soup is $5.99 for a small bowl, the app dumplings only came with 4 small dumplings for $5.99 - Be aware of overpriced items with small portions (see above comment) The Ugly: - The free beer with Yelp check-in is no longer honored by the owner, but still exist on the app - You can't substitute the soup that comes with lunch special with miso soup which is kind of B.S. - The tea that comes in the tea pot order is the cheap bag tea instead of the actual loose leaf as it should be for an authentic Asian restaurant - The owner is not friendly Even though the food deserves 4 stars, given the portion, price, and overall experience, I'm rating it 3 Stars. Beautiful and clean restaurant! Service was fantastic ! For starters the chicken dumpling soup was amazing ! Hubby liked his chicken satay but said although the flavor was good it was a little dry. What a great spot! My mom and I wanted sushi on a Monday. The original place we were going to was closed on Mondays and we didn't realize until we pulled up and saw the hours. Luckily, Camellia Gardens was right down the street and open on a Monday. My mom and I arrived around 7:30pm and another table for 2 was there, but left shortly after we arrived. They sounded like they had a delicious meal, though, so I was happy with making the choice to come here. The server was extremely friendly. We split shrimp pad thai and a red dragon roll. It was scrumptious. My mom doesn't like a lot of heat, so we went with mild on the pad thai, and we should have turned it up a little more, though. This is quickly becoming one of our favourite Thai restaurants in the area. The servers are always very attentive. Tables are set with tablecloths, cloth napkins, music playing, etc. Nice ambiance for a date night or someplace a bit more special. The menu has a great selection so you can get Thai or sushi depending on your mood. There are also a few Burmese items mixed in. I started with the Tom Yum vegetarian and the BF ordered the Tom Kha. Both were delicious and piping hot. For dinner I ordered Pad Kee Mow with tofu and the BF ordered Pad See Ew with chicken. There's so much flavor in their veggies, everything has a nice char on the outside. The sauces are delicious but not overpowering. The first thing I noticed was the ambiance. It's very unique with grey and black bricks, and fancy window decor. The wall art was pretty. The tables have white linen topped with glass. The prices seemed a little higher than most places, even lunch specials. Nothing bank breaking, just noticible higher. You can get brown rice for no additional cost, or black rice for 50 cents. The ingredients are fresh. I really liked the flavor of the smoked salmon. The eel was good, too. Not squishy or slimy. They also held together better than most. Stopped in here the other day after realizing that the Thai house down the road had closed. Most recently this location was an Italian restaurant I really liked but had a very grouchy owner. The place was nice enough and clean. The way in was very confusing. You walk into a vestibule with two doors. One said dine in and one said pick up. However, there were no handles on the doors to get in either way. Had to wait for someone to spot you and come and let you in. It was a very cold night and I thought the place was sort of chilly. There are large windows that were drafty and could've used some extra covering to keep out the Arctic chill. I started with the Tom Yum soup which was very good and hot both in temperature and spice. My Burmese coffee was also tasty and welcoming on a cold night. Unfortunately the tomato fish curry was unavailable so, I had to choose again. My seafood Pad Thai was good. The seafood tasted fresh with mussels shrimp and calamari rings. I enjoyed it and I'm not complaining but, it could have used a little something more. Perhaps a little more spice? An extra squeeze of lime? Pad Thai pops up often these days and as good as it was, it didn't stand out. Paula's Pad Ke Mow was also tasty and she was pleased. What a hidden gem! Well I can't really say hidden based off the number of great help reviews on here but it's certainly not talked about as much as it should be. This place is extremely affordable. Especially with the linen table cloth and napkin atmosphere. It came to about $85 for 6 entrees and 2 sweet potato rolls. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. I was primarily interested in their vegan friendly sushi offers. Many items however, can be made vegan. They have tofu as a substitute for egg or meat. All the ingredients are clearly listed on their menu which I greatly appreciate. A flaw in some Thai places is the lack of clarity in menu items. Camellia Garden makes ordering easy. We came here at around 6pm on a Saturday evening. There were about 5-6 other tables full. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We tried a variety of meals; carrot roll, the garden vegetable roll, spicy tuna roll, vegetarian pad thai, and basil fried rice with chicken. The rolls came first and were out in probably less than 10 minutes. The rest of the food came shortly after. I only got a picture of one thing, but the presentation here is awesome. Picture-worthy all the way!! The portions are large for the rice and noodle dishes in particular. I found it cool how you can choose your spicy scale. The food can be suited to anyone's taste preferences. Everyone enjoyed their food and was surprised as we don't often eat Thai cuisine. Guess you have to try something new :) The prices were also very reasonable. My sushi roll was only $4; originally $3.50 but black rice is an extra .50. Many places overcharge on vegetable sushi, so I found this very fair. We enjoyed our visit thoroughly and will defiantly be back. Also a bonus for them having Pepsi products as we are not Coke fans in the slightest. I also ordered the pad thai chicken which was also good because it wasn't overly sweet! That's the problem with a lot of thai American restaurants. They tend to make EVERYTHING overly sweet. I felt like this restaurant did an awesome job at balancing flavors and making it authentic. Also, I went for lunch and the amount of food you get is a lot! You get a salad AND the house soup, which were both delicious. The salad was a typical green salad with a sesame citrus dressing. The soup was a chicken broth and vegetable soup but it was sooo good and comforting!! My only con is that I asked for very hot and it was not hot to me at all! And my tolerance for spice isnt that high. This restaurant is right on Transit Rd across from Depew High School. It's easy to access because you can actually turn onto a side street to get into their parking lot if you're going left into the parking lot. I ordered the tea leaf salad and chicken pad Thai. Figured I'd stick with basics on my first order here. Items were presented nicely and were the appropriate temperature and stayed warm for a long time. I asked for the chicken pad Thai to be mild to medium, it was the perfect spiciness, though a little spicy if you're not somebody who likes a little spice. I wish it was served with a little bit more lime. The tea leaf salad was fresh and crunchy and enjoyable. I'm going to have lots of leftovers for quite some time, looking forward to enjoying them. The lunch includes soup and salad. The soup has a very good broth flavor. I ordered Pad See Ew -- a wise noodles with kale, eggs, chilies and scallions. I opt for tofu but they give choice of chicken, beef, seafood. I love how they sliced the kale it's easier to eat. It's crunchy but not too hard, perfect cook. The dish is very flavorful. You can order as spicy as you want. The waitress is attentive. The restaurant is very nice but also cozy. The service quite fast but then again there wasn't a lot of people there at that time. I definitely will be back for more lunch time. They are located in the old La Castellana building. Parking is good for this area. The entrance is odd since the hostess desk is in the back, past the first few tables. Not an issue just be aware. Staff was incredibly friendly, almost over the top. Take that as a personal preference. They have an enormous menu. From starters, to soups, to salads, to noodle bowls to Burmese to Thai to sushi. Sometimes that makes me nervous, can the do all of that well. Can they keep that many ingredients fresh and of good quality. To be determined. We started with the vegetable spring roll. Much to our surprise it was not fried but served cold. The dipping sauce was fantastic and complemented the freshness of the veggies. The avocado was not quite ripe. Pick it up, trying to cut it is messy. For sushi we did the sweet potato roll with optional black rice. It was ok, not the best roll, I prefer to sweet potato to be cooked some more. The black rice gives an interesting taste and texture that you have to be aware of. My friend had the Pad Kee Mow, CAUTION she got it Hot. Good thing she tested the spice on the side before she slathered her food with-it because it had a kick. Overall she said it was good, but needed more flavor, not just heat.
