This was our first time visiting Green Lantern and it was wonderful. I ordered a "half and half" burger with one ground beef patty and a sausage patty. It tasted really good and was unlike anything I've had before. The patties were thick and the whole thing was very filling. My partner ordered a double cheese burger and added a side of onion rings. The rings were awesome and crunchy. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The other staff were friendly as well. Our food came out at a reasonable time considering they were a little busy during our visit. We will definitely return to try out their breakfast selections.

Now open until 8pm. This is a great development.

Fact 1: Green Lantern has been in business for almost 100 years. Fact 2: I've been eating here for more DECADES than I care to remember. Fact 3: If GL wasn't fantastic, neither fact 1, or fact 2, would be true. Here's the dealio: The. Food. Is. Excellent. Yes, it's simple diner food, but it's always done right. From the omelets and breakfast sandwiches, to the milkshakes and homemade soups/chili, to the HANDY ANDY (best double cheeseburger in SoTol if not the entire city...check out the pictures). I've never had anything that wasn't delish. GL has been under new ownership for about 3 years, and the menu has changed a little, and the prices (like the prices everywhere else) have gone up. But what hasn't changed is the quality of the food. Also, even though the prices are higher, the value relative to other restaurants, hasn't changed...not one iota. The service is always fast and, for me, has always been friendly. The atmosphere? Well, let's just say it fits nicely into the South Side. GL is closed on Sunday and Monday, but they now open until 8pm on the other days. This is a good thing. AND STILL, AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, FIVE STARS!

    Bacon cheeseburger. So good.

Under new ownership, still great. Some new paint and menu items. Now open till 8pm! Bacon cheeseburger is still my go to. Tried the onion rings out. I prefer a thin ring. The big ones are too oily for me, so I'll stick to fries next time.

Classic variety for diner-fare. Love that they serve breakfast all day. Staff is always quick and upbeat, they know their regulars by name! Very cozy, not a lot of seating but service is so quick that just give it a few minutes and a table will open up. Portions are also big for the price!!

The best hot cakes in the city! Great food, great prices. The sausage patties are grilled on a flat top til they are crispy goodness. Cant go wrong with anything on the menu and the friendliest staff. A Toledo treasure, check this place out!

The best Toledo diner food was very delicious. The service was excellent even though they were busy she always made sure my coffee cup was full. I have been coming here for years and years and still the best diner around. They are open to 8 now and I can wait to try the dinner options next time

Great little hole in the wall!! Been around forever and everyone needs to stop by and get some breakfast or lunch. It's not going to disappoint. I had the eggs and bacon. Pretty basic but made perfectly. Bacon was crispy but still chewy. How is that possible?!? Also split the Gooey burger. If you come to the green lantern put this on your bucket list. It's basic but perfect. You are gonna love it. My mom got the "Mo Swiss" burger and chili. Not gonna lie. The burger was LOADED!! The chili was GREAT!! All the food was top notch. Just what you'd expect from a great diner. I'd have given 5 stars but the neighborhood, parking lot and general area is a bit off putting. Get past that and you are gonna love the fast, friendly staff and the historical pics on the walls. Overall I am coming back to this place. Just get there before 2:00 cause that's when they shut the doors!! Enjoy!!!

Chili cheese fries and a double goopie with egg. Good lord.

What a great place! Open since 1929. A Toledo institution run by a true legend! Best cheese burgers in town!

It wasn't the greatest of breakfast. Very plain , very bland. Wouldn't recommend. But if you really need something to eat, it will do.

My issues are the ham was a processed ham roll, and the coffee was pretty much just hot water. If the restaurant owners were real ham lovers, they'd have a "real ham" in the kitchen and they'd slice off a slab of the stuff for us folks that really love it. A nice piece off of a half or whole ham, not that awful "Cumberland Gap ham steak" stuff. Not the same stuff. Oh, real, strong coffee would be nice too.

This truly a wonderful experience for all ages and varying tastes. A tremendous and welcome change we've come to endure from other dining experiences. Here the customer is THE primary focus from the moment you walk in til you walk out the door - BRAVO!! The food, had the Mayberry Mega where you pick your 6 omelette ingredients. Normally a crap shoot in most diners but here it was a home run. The ham and sausage were nice size chunks, juicy, and full of flavor. Spinach, onions, and tomatoes were fresh and perfect sizes and good quantities for the dish. That leaves the cheese my one "ding" would have preferred shredded cheese vs sliced cheese because of flavor and texture - but it didn't take away from a wonderfully prepared omelette made and severed with genuine care. Potatoes were frozen BUT they were prepared exceptionally well for dinner dare they were soft and cooked with a nice crisp. It was a superb surprise and a very welcome one. The coffee was fresh and hot and the standard "acidic" coffees you'd find in most diners anywhere, but overall inviting enough to have a few cups for a discerning coffee "snob" like me. Place was PACKED so all tables and booth were full, but they have a nice counter service with plenty of seating and space to move and eat and be very comfortable for your meal. What's fascinating is the incredible teamwork and collective desire to ensure your time, experience, and meal are spent enjoying your company and food not staring at your watch wondering about time. The entire restaurant was seated, served, and cleared with clean tables within the time I had to get and consume my own breakfast. So if you see a packed house on your arrival and don't desire that counter seat fear not - in this home environment your wait will be short and your day will lose no valuable time - well worth some minimal patience - you'll be glad you did. Your greeted as soon as you walk in by one or more of the extremely hardworking waitresses with a smile - your also sent off with a "Thank you. have a Good Day" by one more waitresses as you leave - both excellent touch of service class enhancing customer experience. I've never seen a more well-run diner or any restaurant from the waitresses to the cooks to the dishwashers the teamwork, attention to details, customer satisfaction, and to the incredible cleanliness of the restaurant despite the constant flow of customers - I've never seen a restaurant so clean and kept so clean the out the day. So what are you waiting for come to Mayberry where a warm greeting, clean home, exceptional food are calling YOUR name today...I'm returning perhaps I'll see you there....Bon Appetite!!

There were two people who came before us, and then a group of 14, and then my husband and me, followed by another bunch of people into a restaurant that was already packed. The waitresses did not even bat an eyelid. They were very polite and were busy doing their work. They were helping seat people as well as checking out people who had just eaten. We only waited about 15 - 20 mins. In the meantime, we chatted with the locals, who told us how often they came here just to eat the pies. When we got seated, the first thing we ordered and got started on were the AMAZING pies (chocolate PB for me and custard for my husband). Oh my God, they were out of the world yummy! We got to watch the ladies on the grill as they made the food. My husband ordered he Swiss steak and I had the double hamburger with all the fixings. The food is great but so are the people who work here --they are just so friendly, have worked here for years and truly care. You don't see this anymore. If I lived here, I would come here once a week to chitchat with them and eat PIE!! Make sure you come here. This place is a gem and has been here since 1948.
