We desperately needed that after White Tower sadly closed down. (Or at best is open very intermittently. Yelp still lists White Tower as open but they've been closed the last couple times I drove by.) So I really love this place and really hope it stays open and plan to be a regular patron. I encourage all night owls in Toledo to do the same. The negative aspects of this review should be taken as constuctive criticism, to help them to improve over time. You can tell they put a lot of work into the lighting design and the choice of music. It gives it a kind of swanky afterhours club vibe . . . Except that completely clashes with the uncomfortable chairs and the bright light coming out of the kitchen! And also to an extent the view of Secor Road and Sylvania Avenue out the window. I'll give them a bye on the view because it's really cool how the neon lights reflect off the window, and if they partly covered the windows to mellow out the annoying suburban atmosphere they would also lose those reflections. But what I think they could really do to make the vibe more consistent would be some comfier seating, like sofas or at least more comfortable chairs, and dim the bright light coming out of the kitchen or block it off from the dining area. The seating might be difficult given the limited space available, but the light from the kitchen could be changed easily I think? Then again, I kind of like the vibe just how it is, a sort of hodgepodge between a swanky club and a carry-out focused diner. Maybe they were even aiming for that eclectic vibe on purpose. I was recently at the Secor Rd location with my mom for a late brunch. Our server was very friendly, nice and it was her second week on the job. From my prior experiences at the Central Rd Scramber's, I would order an omelette that came with potatoes, toast (which I always decline) and an additional side. It didn't occur to me that the Secor Rd Scrambler's franchise would be any different. I ordered my usual omelette with spinach, tomatoes and portobello mushrooms. When asked for my side, I selected the fresh fruit. I was asked for another side and ordered pancakes that I knew my mom would enjoy taking home. My mom ordered three eggs over easy with two sausage patties, pancakes and a fruit salad. While waiting for our orders to be prepared, it occurred to me that I wasn't asked about which potatoes I wanted. When our orders were served, I mentioned to our server that there weren't any potatoes. She said she would put in an order of potatoes and bring them out. There was no discussion about price. My mom enjoyed her meal and I enjoyed mine as well, except that I noticed there was far less spinach than usual. I didn't mention it to our server. The omelette was tasty; the fruit salad was fresh; and the potatoes that came later were plentiful and not greasy. For drinks, my mom ordered coffee and I ordered an Arnold Palmer (iced tea and lemonade). I finished my drink and wasn't offered a refill but also didn't ask. Since drinks these days run $3.99, usually the server would pretty promptly bring a refill without the need to ask. Since I realize our server was new, it wasn't a big deal. When the bill came, I was surprised to see the charge of approximately $43 before tip. In reviewing the bill, there was a charge of $4.99 for the potatoes that normally came as a side with an omelette. There was also an upcharge for the pancakes side. When I inquired about these unexpected charges, our server said she would discuss it with her manager. Upon returning, our server informed me that the manager agreed to take $1 off. To me, the $4.99 potatoes should have been comp'd as the usual omelette side. My mom didn't want me to make a fuss, so I just paid the bill but left feeling that it wasn't fair. Given that our server was new, I didn't blame her at all but did feel that the manager missed an opportunity to come out to speak with us and take more than $1 off the bill. While I might return to this Scrambler's due to its convenient location, I would be cognizant of the new charges for sides which would have otherwise been included in the brunch entree price. I also want other customers to be aware to ask the price of sides even if they are presented as part of the order. Food was overall good but the bill seemed overpriced and irked me.
