Green Leaves has ALWAYS been my go-to boba place to order at for a couple of years, and it never disappointed me and my family. However, once we noticed there was or were new owner(s), we also knew a couple things would change, and we were right. 1. The Boba; before it seemed very light and chewy, now the inside of it had a bit medium chew, and honestly I would rate it a 3.5. It wasn't really as chewy as it used to be, almost as if it was just instant. It kinda threw me off for the entire rating since its purpose for the shop is bubble tea . 2. The food; I always order the Taiwanese Chicken (Jalapeño Spice) and the Garlic Fries. When me and my mom got our order, we tried it out and a lot of changes happened with the food. The chicken had less spice on it and it was pretty tasteless on the inside, before it used to be pretty juicy and have way more flavor. I honestly had to rate it a 3. And the fries, I don't know what was up but the shape of it was different, and there was less garlic added. And usually the garlic stays on the bottom of the box, and it's very hard to get it on your fries. I'd rate this a 3.5. We also found out they gave us less ranch for our dipping sauce, before it used to be very loaded with it! It wasn't much of a problem but I just really prefer if they add more ranch into the cup. Overall, the food is okay I guess, the drinks are pretty much watered down and not that great, not the toppings for the most, but I don't think I'll be coming back here with family to order takeout for boba and would rather find other bubble tea places. It's sad that the shop isn't the same as it used to be before, and I don't see most of the employees I'm usually asked to take my order with. This was also family owned business by a mom and dad, but I believed they retired and sold the business off relentlessly. Just went back for the first time after moving away from the area and was disappointed to see my favorite Boba Tea spot was hit by shrinkflation. A regular is no longer a regular compared to any other Boba shop. The boba quality was not great either. Didn't taste or feel fresh or maybe they changed their supplier to a cheaper version too? Sadly, I don't agree with all of the 5-star reviews of the drinks here at Green Leaves. I ordered the Signature Milk Tea ($4.75) and Four Seasons Fruit Tea ($6.49) both with less ice and less sweet. They were just okay. Many Yelpers claim that their Signature Milk Tea has a distinct or strong tea flavor. It sort of does, but it reminds me of the "tea" flavor like the milk tea from Lollicup. Lollicup had a distinct and unique "tea" taste that isn't quite artificial, but it wasn't quite real either. Lollicup definitely used powder tea to make their milk teas and Green Leaves Signature Milk Tea reminds me of that taste. It's not bad at all, but just not what I hoped for it to be. The Four Seasons Fruit Tea was also not a drink to write home about, it didn't hit the spots of a fruit tea like the ones from Yifang or Sunright. Service was friendly! I went here one time years ago and never came back until recently. After shopping at the market across the street, I wanted a drink and a snack and I remembered this place so I gave it another try. Several years ago during my first visit I remember the owner being white, but it looks like staff now is Asian so im wondering if they had a change of owners? Not sure, but it seems Thai inspired now maybe? I wanted a fruit tea so ended up getting their passion fruit orange tea, its the one described as feeling like visiting Hawaii. I also got a small garlic fries, but be aware the serving is actually small. Haha The drink was decent but not amazing, however their ice level was killing me. Very little ice, I barely took a few sips in the 8mins or so of waiting for my fries and all the ice melted. Nothing destroys the intensity of a refreshing drink because of light ice that melts too fast. Yes, that's picky but I think thats true. Before I left I was able to get a sample of their milk tea. It tasted okay, reminded me of quicklys milk tea. One of the workers suggested that I get it with brown sugar syrup next time since I told her I like my drinks on the sweeter side. I had never tried Green Leaves, but Yelp said that it was hard to go wrong as it sported a 4+ rating. I opened with the admission I had never been here before, but that I always assess my first time visits through the cafe's standard black milk tea. I asked him what he would recommend along those lines He suggested the Black Forest Milk Tea and added this stipulation: "Try it, and if you don't like it, it's on the house." When do you hear of people giving warranty promises for tea?? I couldn't refuse his kind gesture, agreed to his terms, and sat as he quickly whipped up the drink. We needed some sustenance after leaving Kaiser off of Kramer. This was one of the shops that was open at 11am I believe. It was also hot that day so we opted for some of their ice blended drinks and a side of popcorn chicken. Once inside, I think there's a hired help at the register while the owner prepares the food from the back. The owner had brought the popcorn chicken and the drinks over about 15 minutes after ordering. I do like the vibes here, it actually has a bar feel with the TV on the wall. I dig it, has that rustic meets country chic feel. The drinks and food are good here, I did wish there was more basil in the popcorn chicken. All of the other pictures shows it but unfortunately, we hardly had any in ours. The dipping sauces were kind of funky, definitely doesn't have that Asian taste, so we didn't bother with it. As for the smoothies, the pineapple one was fabulous. Sweetness level is perfect, not overly sweet at all. But we did drink a couple of chunks here and there. Not a deal breaker, that's for sure. As far as seating area and interior this place is very nice! Feels like you're in some tavern with their wine barrel seating and the oaky color theme. I had tried their signature milk tea and the jasmine milk tea here. I would expect the signature milk tea to be their best drink but unfortunately it fell short of expectation. It might be one of my least favorite one I've had. It has almost no flavor and just tasted like cold, bland milk. The jasmine milk tea even though better was very light on the flavor but relatively much better than the signature milk tea. It's your run of the mill boba spot with popcorn chicken and tea and coffee BUT the service and care I always get here from the staff makes me never want to get boba anywhere else. I have been coming here for years now with my husband and I almost always get the cmt with sesame and boba. It's always so good and tastes so fresh! I love their jalapeño popcorn chicken too and again it's always so fresh tasting and I have never ever gotten sick from their popcorn chicken! I don't know how many times other spots have undercooked their food and gotten me sick but since I always come here now instead I haven't had that issue. The inside is very casual but dark and moody in a good way! The lights aren't bright and in your face but yet everything is always SO CLEAN. I love that about this place. I used to come here all the time because everything was consistent and worth the price, but now the flavors are off, the tea tastes watered down, and the boba quality is all over the place and taste recycled.
