This was the most horrible Chinese food. Fried rice is a basic staple. We ordered house fried rice and it was literally rice from the pot mixed with vegetables. The reason people order fried rice is because cooking it on high heat in a wok creates a smoky flavor and rice is browned. The next dish with much disappointment was the mapo tofu. How hard is it to make! This one had bell peppers and no spice, no taste! Never ate mapo with bell peppers. It's usually with spicy hamburger and tofu, very simple. Any time I eat at any other Chinese restaurant it really puts into perspective how good Green Leaves is. Consistently great tasting food, good service, and stiff drinks! first time customer. ordered egg roll, beef with Bok choy and white rice and pork lo mein. the egg roll was not crunchy, it was kind of mushy and the inside filling did not taste fresh. Nothing I ordered was fresh, it all tased old and dirty. The pork and beef tasted the same. It was rubbery, not real meat. As a local, this is my go to spot for Chinese and sushi! Andy is the absolute best! We come here almost every snowstorm because they're always open serving the folks working hard on the roads. Fresh ingredients and made so well. Also, their drinks are not weak and they have a good beer selection. We get sushi a lot from here and it's delicious! We also love the peanut wontons and crab Rangoon. General and orange chickens are so good as is pad Thai and any of the fried rice. You seriously just can't go wrong here. Great restaurant! They have a solid operation to prevent contact during the pandemic. One person is allowed in the facility at a time, very contactless and their food is excellent. Surprisingly the veggie dishes were good too , which is hard to find in many other restaurants. Greenleaves has been our go to for Chinese food and sushi for years. The food is always consistent and delicious, and the people are always friendly. We have never had a bad meal or bad experience. We mostly get take out rather than eating in. They always have a lollipop or small goody bag for small children that come to the restaurant too. Greenleaves has done a wonderful job adapting to a take-out only model since COVID. They have built a wooden foyer area where you can step inside to pay and pick up your food. Wow, this place is seriously subpar. A friend and I dined here on a recent weeknight around 4:30pm. It wasn't busy; there was only one other pair of diners in the dining room and a couple of people at the bar. Disappointed by the lack of dinner specials or combination plates, we decided to order a Pu Pu Platter so we could both satisfy our craving for traditional American Chinese appetizers. The Platter was delivered to our table very quickly, but to our severe disappointment all of the items on the platter except the chicken wings were cold. And they were all soggy and excessively greasy. For our entrees we both ordered chicken dishes. Surprisingly, entrees don't even come with the obligatory steamed white rice; you have to order that separately. To make matters worse, the portions were very small, and my General Tso's chicken tasted like it was doused in a mixture of cooking oil and corn syrup. "Sweet" was the one and only flavor I could detect. Last but not least, the service was bad. The server threw things on the table, threw the bill at us, and hurried us out of the restaurant (and there was no one waiting for a table). The bill after tax and tip came to almost $60!!! I've been to Green Leaves several times for lunch, dining in and for takeout. The lunch specials come with pork fried rice and are priced $6.95-$7.95. The food here is pretty good including the shrimp lo mein, beef with scallions, and General Tso's chicken. The chicken fingers are hot and crispy (greasy!) and the pork fried rice is decent. The lunch portions are filling, enough for me to finish in one sitting. The service here is very quick. I'm seated very promptly and the server instantly brings me hot tea and water before taking my order. I've received my food in 5-10 minutes or less (both dine-in and takeout) on each visit. The check is brought over to my table shortly after I'm finished eating. The food here is 3.5 stars, rounding up for consistent food and quick service. read more

My wife has Celiacs disease which means Gluten-free! She had not been to a Chinese food restaurant in 15 years. I asked people for recommendations for a Chinese restaurant, that could be trusted for gluten-free, on NH Eats Facebook page. Green Leaves had more people recommend it that any other place, and we don't need too much of an excuse to make a roadtrip to Maine! We had an eclipse (April 8) planning lunch there today. The Missus, meself, our son and his GF, and our best friends. The food was excellent, the wait staff were very much on top of everything, the scorpion bowl had a nice kick to it, and we figgered out what were gonna do on April 8, for the solar eclipse! They are GF certified, separate menu, and me Missus is VERY happy with me right now. (You married men know how fleeting that can be on some days! LOLOL) We are going up to Ogunquit for 3 days in April, we may be back sooner than that! read more

The sauce was watery and in the case of the Kung Pao, no spice at all. One more thing of note was the fried rice. it was yellow and flavorless. Let me preface this with the fact I worked in a restaurant for 7 YEARS, and I also have NEVER left a Yelp review. Unfortunately, there was no other recourse, than to do so, as even after repeated requests to talk to someone about all this, I was told there was "no one to speak with". Christmas Eve is busy, I get it - but when you order at 3 pm, and are told your food ($150 worth) would be ready at 7pm, it should be ready at 7 pm. 2 family members went to pick it up at 7, and were told it wasn't ready but would be out 'very soon', (no biggie - my family member proceeded to pay for the food, and tip $50 on $150 expecting it soon) - 7:15, 7:30, 7:45.... when the 'owner's son' (FOH) was asked again, the response for a timeline was "I don't know". 8:00, 8:15... I finally called from home, and talked to the same individual (owner's son), who indicated earlier he had no idea when it would be ready, and when asked who DID know, he conveyed, "no one knows, we shouldn't even be open right now". We finally got our order about 8:40pm, (nearly 2 hours late). To give you perspective - there were people in line there, that even ordered THE DAY BEFORE, and were STILL waiting when we finally got the order! On top of it all, the food was NOT good..... Busy is one thing, but taking so many orders when you KNOW you are impossibly ill-equipped to handle the volume, is not fair to people, (and that came right from the same person, who indicated his "father said he was just going to take ALL the orders, tonight"). Not fair to patrons, not ok to have zero explanation or apology, horribly unprofessional, and will absolutely never return or recommend to even my worst enemy. PROS: Eggrolls were good. Was better than eating my shoes. CONS: PF Rice was dry, bland, and had about 3 pieces of pork in it. Veggie Lo Mein was mostly pea pods, and SUPER SMALL for the price. Orange Beef was cold and dry, and everything else was 'meh' at best. Out $150 in food, and a $50 tip. I am deactivating YELP, as it is only THIS level of service and lack of explanation that led to the above review. I know I won't need this account, because there is no way any other place on Earth can have communication, food, and business practices, as bad as Green Leaves. Trust me people, don't bother. read more
