Broccoli and fried tofu with an awful brown sauce . Tiny portion too. 1/10
    Tara K.

We drove around looking for food but with so many places closed at 7pm and we didn't find much. We were glad Bamboo Garden was open. Let's start with - it's very clean inside. Welcoming. Nicely lit. Booth was comfy. Started with drinks - coke and a water. The water tasted disgusting so I opted for hot tea. As a vegan it's sometimes hard to eat out. I opted for the fried tofu and broccoli. No mention of sauce on the menu, and definitely no mention of there being oyster sauce on the tofu. After seeing it covered in a brown sauce I asked the waiter before trying it to find out if it was vegan friendly (or even vegetarian friendly!). He said no, that it had oyster sauce. I typically get fried tofu near by and it comes with a sweet chili sauce, on the side which I especially appreciate. They brought me another dish after I requested no sauce. Nope. It was slathered in this awful brown sauce that tastes disgusting. The tofu texture was way off. I had one broccoli and couldn't eat anymore. Now for the meat portion. The beef teriyaki are thinner but taste was good. Egg rolls also were very good. Chicken fingers were nicely battered and perfectly cooked. Rice was good too. And chicken sesame was incredible. Portions were smaller aside from the sesame chicken and of course egg rolls you always get 2. Oddly enough they give you only one tiny bowl of duck sauce and when you request more it's maybe a 1oz container. Just strange as local places hand you several with every order. It was $83 for dinner. Not worth it, imo. May go back for take out for the meat eater but that's about it.

I'm glad I found bamboo garden on Yelp! The food was delicious, well prepared and exactly what we wanted on a low key Wednesday. Ordering was breeze - I registered my email and was able to check out within minutes! My order was hot and ready for pick up within 10-15 mins. The one item we did order that I personally will skip next time (and I forgot to snag a picture of) was the egg drop soup. I was not a fan of corn kernels in it. Took away from the delicious egg taste - I ended up picking the corn out of each bite and finally gave up and tossed the rest of my soup.

    Happy family

Nice little place in York with a vibrant bar scene and friendly customers. Food is typical American Chinese fare, but very tasty.

The interior is quite spacious with plenty of sunlight, and even when we left it wasn't very busy for a Sunday around lunchtime. I ordered drunken noodles with steamed tofu and left pleased. The server didn't ask me for spice level, but it definitely had a kick to it, which I appreciated. The duck noodle soup sounded like it'd be a great, unique dish - but the duck is probably best left to dry noodle dishes, where it can remain crispy. In the soup, the duck lost its texture and flavor. The other classics that the group ordered (deluxe pad thai, chicken pad see ew) were all satisfactory.

I ordered the Crispy Duck Massaman Curry (gluten-free) with potatoes, carrots, onions, and peanuts. The portion size was excellent and the flavors were tangy and comforting, though I wish the peanut flavor was a bit stronger. I ordered level 4 spice and should have gone with a 5. If you like heat, I recommend at least a level 5. I am very particular about duck since it is easy to dry out, but this was crispy yet still moist, which impressed me. It was a bit pricey at $27.95, but understandable for duck. The waitress was delightful and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. I will definitely return.

The server was friendly and happily answered our questions; our food came out quickly and was quite good. I had the chicken curry bao and satay chicken bowl. The menu has tons of options. I couldn't pass up trying the pork belly Bao bun sandwich and I'm glad I got it. The bun itself usually Fall short with many places. Well, not here. It's their main attraction. Pillowy and the perfect size to carry all the fillings. $10 for one of these bad boys and that may seem a little on the higher side for a bun but this thing was packed. I'd pay that again in a heart beat. The pork belly was cooked well. The fat was rendered perfectly and it was tender. If they did it roasted and got it a little crisp, boy it'd be a 10/10 but honestly, the freshness from the pickled onion, the cilantro and the sauce they used on it was all wonderful. Loved it and when I'm in the area I'll surely come back. Especially considering I ordered and got my bun in 5 minutes flat. I could sneak away from my family real quick, have my bun and be on my way before anyone got too worried. Thanks Bao 155!
