My family has gone to The Plant Stand every year on Mother's Day. This year, we bought trees --…read morewhich, unfortunately, are now dying. Today, my 70-year-old mother went in to ask the owner for advice and see what could be done. Instead of offering any help, he was rude and dismissive. Then, when my mom made a sweet, light comment -- saying, "God's been watering the plants a little extra this year" -- he actually mocked her faith and ridiculed her relationship with God. That wasn't just bad customer service -- it was cruel, uncalled for, and incredibly disrespectful. I was shocked. She didn't deserve that, and no customer ever should. They've lost more than a sale -- they've lost loyal, long-term customers who have supported them year after year. From now on, we'll be shopping at Joe's Market Basket, where customers are valued and treated with the respect they deserve.

Being in need, I headed to the nursery that I shopped when I did my spring landscaping. To my surprise, they were out of hanging baskets. The owner who was assisting me, recommended, The Plant Stand. We shared a laugh when I told him they were the closest to my house, but I drove the distance to support him again. He appreciated my loyalty, but thought I'd find what I needed at TPS. I thanked him and started my drive back home. Now let me tell you why I haven't shopped TPS when it is the closest one to my home. It simple is, presentation. It is right on the main drag through Godfrey and it just has never been appealing enough to get me to stop by. I found a hanging basket that meet my needs and will get me through fall. I actually wanted 3, but settled on just one for the front entrance. TPS did have an average selection of plants, some of them were marked down for late season clearance. Shopping up close, I could see why it did not look appealing from the road. Many of their plants were in need of TLC. When selling plants, the dead foliage needs to be picked off, so the plants appear perky and beautiful. Many of the plants were in need of attention to make them buyer friendly. The lady working was pleasant enough and the price of my hanging basket was a good value. Appearance is everything when it comes to buying live plants. This visit may have been a little rough around the edges, but I'll give them another try next spring. When: September 30, 2021 Why: Hanging Basket

This Home Depot came to my rescue. I was in need of a certain size Tamper and they had it. Before…read morecoming here, I shopped a local Mom and Pop hardware store and another Big Box and neither of them had the size I needed/wanted. When I came here, they had a variety of sizes and brands for me to choose from. They made my life easier. The store is directly located across the street from their competitors, so when one doesn't have what you want, you can easily drive across the street and hopefully find what you need. I get lost in this store, so it takes me awhile to find what I am looking for, but I eventually find it. The friendly associates in orange vest, are always ready to assist. They ask me what I am looking for and I tell them, I always look lost. The store is clean and well organized for a Big Box. If you're an early riser, they open at 6AM.

The process was very difficult... lady waiting on was trying but let me tell you about her associate....Cathy ...who by the way should be fired!!!! I asked the person waiting on me if she could call somebody to help us because the return was a huge struggle. Meantime Cathy starts shaking her head with discuss, I asked her why she was shaking her head at me? Quote she said Because I Can !!! I asked her name she refused, I went closer to read on her apron and let her know I was going to wright a bad review and she said go ahead.....because of her lack of professionalism and terrible manors she shared... when she had nothing to do with my return and lack Of help with her associates if she could have done a better job defusing or solving the problem.... What happened to customer service ??? If you don't like your job , you shouldn't be in customer contact. One bad apple will spoil the atmosphere... it becomes contaminated and contagious...

The drive is beautiful no matter what direction you're coming from. I live in St. Charles county and took one of the river ferry's across into Grafton. The River Road gets you to Alton in about 20 minutes. Both Grafton and Alton have great food and antique stores to choose from. I was warmly welcomed into the shop. One of the co-owners was there during my visit to assist and answer any questions. The main level is eclectic filled with furniture, knick knacks, and tchotchkes. There is also a smaller selection of clothing on the main floor. The upstairs is a vintage shoppers dream! Clothes, coats, shoes, and accessories. I'm am a fuller bodied person and sometimes have a hard time finding anything in my size. They are size inclusive and did carry true plus size clothing. I can't really speak to value. If I see something and love it, I just buy it. But I believe the pricing is fair considering the care and attention given to the quality of the items they have curated. Enjoy your day trip!
