I am an investor who shops everyday in Home Depot. Came in to do a return.... The process was very difficult... lady waiting on was trying but let me tell you about her associate....Cathy ...who by the way should be fired!!!! I asked the person waiting on me if she could call somebody to help us because the return was a huge struggle. Meantime Cathy starts shaking her head with discuss, I asked her why she was shaking her head at me? Quote she said Because I Can !!! I asked her name she refused, I went closer to read on her apron and let her know I was going to wright a bad review and she said go ahead.....because of her lack of professionalism and terrible manors she shared... when she had nothing to do with my return and lack Of help with her associates if she could have done a better job defusing or solving the problem.... What happened to customer service ??? If you don't like your job , you shouldn't be in customer contact. This Home Depot came to my rescue. I was in need of a certain size Tamper and they had it. Before coming here, I shopped a local Mom and Pop hardware store and another Big Box and neither of them had the size I needed/wanted. When I came here, they had a variety of sizes and brands for me to choose from. They made my life easier. The store is directly located across the street from their competitors, so when one doesn't have what you want, you can easily drive across the street and hopefully find what you need. I get lost in this store, so it takes me awhile to find what I am looking for, but I eventually find it. The friendly associates in orange vest, are always ready to assist. They ask me what I am looking for and I tell them, I always look lost. The store is clean and well organized for a Big Box. If you're an early riser, they open at 6AM. read more

In Alton, the best home and garden store is at Home Depot, with Lowe's a close second. Prices seem better at HD and the plants seem better maintained. HD has the widest selection in the best condition. Their ferns a fantastic. Easy to maneuver except on weekends when it is super busy. The crowds here tell you that locals prefer this. The main store is a little cramped but well run and well stocked and great prices. I'm rating here on the garden center. read more

Diane came running to the front yelling halfway down the aisle, I checked wit HR, we are not hiring. I said, there is a giant sign outside that says you are and your website has open positions. She said she filled them all. So rude and unprofessional. read more

i went in to get stain for a furniture project and I didn't really know what I needed. a young gentleman in the paint department came to help me and knew everything one can know about stains and their purposes!! I am absolutely done with these jackasses! I go into the store tonight to buy some lightbulbs. They have bright light and the ones that aren't bright light. The bright light ones go for $5.97 the other ones go for $8.47 so I grab the bright light bulbs And take them to the cash register. I get to the cash register and they ring up for $8.47. I tell the cashier that that is the wrong price they are $5.97. She says OK go back and take a picture of them on the shelf and bring it up here and I'll change the price. I said don't you have people working here and they looked put out. I decided to walk back and take the photo. I take the photo come back up front and the register I was at has someone in it so I go to the empty register, where he rings it up. Again the price comes up at $8.47. I tell him what happened show him the photo and he calls over a guy who was standing next to the register that I went to the first time he acts clueless and the other guy says these are ringing up wrong. He showed me the picture so the original guy asked, can I see the picture. I said wait a minute I just showed him the picture. Why do I have to show you the picture. Is his word not good enough? I show the guy the picture there's another female manager standing there and she says I'm gonna go back and check the price. I said wait a minute I just went back to check the price because they told me I had to. I showed him the picture and now you gotta go back to check the price. I went into the Alton, IL Home Depot for two gallons of paint. I had the exact formula, brand name and codes required just as I have done in the past. This time however, the young girl took my info, mixed the paint and I left. Since I've done this before I did not think to check the formula. Of course it was made wrong by one of the young ladies that was working the Paint section. I went the following day to return it, however, they do not take mixed paint back. That's fine, but I at least wanted to spend double and get the correct paint. This time a different young lady was there and could not figure out how to get my formula right. So I left with my original crappy colored paint. Luckily, I went to the Edwardsville, IL Home Depot who was not only able to get the formula right, but also explained to me what the other store did wrong. My info was correct and the Alton store didn't know what they were doing. Don't get mixed paint from Alton. Go to Edwardsville. read more

I went here this morning to get a few landscaping supplies. Specifically landscape pavers. Home Depot ran about $.20 per paver cheaper than Lowes across the street. As I bought 52 If them I asked if I could leave them by the checkout stand so I could continue shopping and they allowed me to. Thank you! When I gathered my remaining things I was able to check out and go on about my way. This isn't a bad thing and I know they aren't required to but it would've been nice if somebody would've offered to help me load them. read more

Do not bother putting in for a rebate through Home Depot you will not get it I have been cheated out of over $120 in rebates because AFTER they were submitted I was told they did not qualify!!! I follow all instruction exactly and now I am out $120.00..Go to Lowes at least you get your rebates there. read more

We were shopping for guarge DOORS. Went to Manards and found some we liked. We were looking at HD when a salesman started talking to us about the guarge doors we like. We told him we found some we liked at Manards and were going to order because they would give us 11% rebate. We were told HD would match that but would be given store credit not a cash rebate. Since we're building a new house that was no problem. We sent our rebate in and was refused. Went to store Manger, she said we never give a 11% discount and claimed sale person no longer works there so she couldn't confirm. If we would have known that would have ordered from Manards. Since both stores have a 3 month lead time we had to accept the 5% discount HD gave us. Will now shop for all other items for new house at Manards read more

I found myself in the garden department today. I was needing storage units and something to keep the wild critters out of our garden. I was at a loss. Nicole, the garden person was quick to swoop in and answer all of my questions. She told me which products would work with my garden. She stuck around to see if I was in need of any answers. Finally settled on a good color and the fella behind the counter made sure lighting and everything was going to be right and just what I wanted. Just want to share this with you so you won't be surprised. If you buy something here and ask for delivery. Be aware all they will do is drop your item off. They aren't supposed to place it. This is not good customer service. I can't lift that much and my husband can only lift so much.? It would be impossible for us to move the 8 ft long picnic table to the back deck. So no thanks for dropping our item off in the front yard and leaving it. But a big thanks to your nice employee. Bad business! read more

The worst store in the history of time! Terrible service. Bought a fridge & it was delivered with dents & broken & missing pieces. Took two weeks to get any help & the guy was a total ads. Then took another week to get a manager to do something about it. Dawn was the manager & was nice. However, she had another person call to tell me off. Then when trying to call back Dawn is either busy or simply not there. Yes, we got our money back but they took forever to come pick up the fridge & then the stupid company they sent couldn't even get it!!!! Its a company home depot outsources, so they weren't able to get it because they couldn't take the door off to get the fridge out the door. Needless to say I now have two fridges & who know if/when the broken one will be picked up. NEVER buy from Home Depot! I never will again. Worst place ever. read more

I just wanted to give a shout out to David in the flooring department. We were in the store on February 18th looking for a chest freezer and he was standing in the appliance area when I walked up and asked him where the freezers were. He jumped right in and took us where we needed to go. After talking for a few minutes, he told us that he actually worked in flooring but helped out because the other salespeople in the appliance department were busy. He didn't even hesitate to help us. He was very helpful and so nice. We bought a freezer and he even offered to take it out to our car for us. This is the kind of service that we have come to expect from Home Depot in Alton. Everyone, without fail, is always very helpful and we never have a problem finding someone who is willing to help us. The funny thing is, we left Lowe's to come to Home Depot because there was no one there to help us. We are really not Lowe's customers but we went because my Mom thought we could get a good deal. She is now a Home Depot customer too. Home Depot trains their employees to deliver the best customer service they can and they always do! read more
