A stray cat had a liter of kittens in a shed at our business in Forest City. We did not even know…read morethe babies were in there. One of the kittens was lethargic and weak. The mother had abandoned the liter. We are not from the area and never needed a vet in PA, so we just drove to the closest vet, which was Carbondale Veterinary Hospital, from Forest City. That vet would not even look at the poor kitten because "they were closing in 10 minutes" (I am not sure how those people sleep at night). We continued our drive from there to try to find another clinic to help this poor kitten, who at this point was really struggling. We found Finch Hill Veterinary Clinic. By the time we got there, the staff was already getting in their cars, because they were actually closed (not closing in 10 minutes). One of the amazing staff members went back inside to speak to the vet, Dr. Johnson. She agreed to see the kitten. Dr. Johnson examined the kitten and said that the most humane thing to do would be to put her to eternal sleep, so that is what she did. I wish the kitten could have been saved, but intervention came to late for her. What a compassionate Vet! She could have chose to not get involved as she was actually closed for the day! At least the poor thing did not suffer a painful, horrible death! We live in New York half the month and PA half the month. Dr. Johnson will absolutely be our PA vet for both of our dogs going forward! Our experience at Carbondale Veterinary Hospital will never leave me (they were still open and would not even look at the kitten. Utterly inhumane!!). I cannot praise Dr. Johnson and her staff enough!!! THAT is the kind of hearts that should be in the field of taking care of animals. We are bringing the other kittens to be checked out and this will be our vet of choice for our two dogs when we are in PA with them half of the year!

I had to take two of my birds here for an emergency visit as my regular vet was booked solid. I…read moremight as well have stayed home and saved the cost of the appointment because the vet literally did nothing to help my birds. Both were frightened at being in a carrier for the first time and at a new place. One of them was sitting on the floor of the carrier panting in fear. The vet looked at him and said, "Oh, he's sitting on the floor. You know what that means," insinuating he was dying. She had no idea how to weigh them (I had to suggest a box), did not examine either bird for musculature on their keels, heartrate, beak and tongue health, etc., suggested a different pellet food for them as she apparently had never heard of Roudybush before, and I heard her and one of the vet techs in the hall looking up how much fecal matter to send away for testing as they don't do it on site. She came in with a piece of Saran wrap to try to collect droppings for testing, which was absurd, as my regular vet uses swabs and does very thorough examinations. At that point, I was very upset and said enough was enough. I declined the Saran wrap fecal sample collection (I feel ridiculous even typing that), gathered my birds, paid for the visit, and left. My regular vet saw my birds a few days later and did thorough exams and testing. They're both fine. I don't know how the vet at Finch Hill is with dogs and cats, but if you have birds, I would not recommend going there as she clearly has no idea about anything avian-related and will take your money for doing absolutely nothing. I will not be returning under any circumstances.

Unfortunately, there was a strong cold draft at floor level, leaving our feet uncomfortably cold throughout the meal. The hostess was sweet and greeted us with a smile. The food service was unremarkable. Our waiter was not particularly friendly nor personable. The drinks were a weak start. The red sangria was poor. The bourbon cocktail was an odd mix of bourbon, apple cider, and other elements--an awkward, Frankenstein-style whiskey sour that simply didn't work. Worst of all, both drinks were served in thin plastic cups, which immediately cheapened the entire experience. I ordered the falafel sandwich and specifically requested a toasted bun. It arrived not just room temperature, but cold. I sent it back, and it returned burning hot... the bottom soggy... literally too hot to pick up... with no browning or color change, clearly microwaved. Microwaving is not toasting. At that point, the sandwich was inedible. I removed the bun entirely and ate just the falafel, which was dry and largely tasteless. At this point I knew coming back to this restaurant was a mistake. Food timing was another issue. The dishes took roughly 45 minutes to arrive after the drinks, possibly longer. We were all getting annoyed and what started out well when we first walked in turned negative. I wasn't impressed on my first visit years ago... and this second visit confirmed it. Between the poor drinks, cheap plastic cups, ridiculously long wait (with no explanation nor apology), and careless food execution, there's no reason to return.

We tried it, pulled chicken was salty for us, grilled chicken was juicy but a tad bit bland, and fried chicken was crunchy but das it. The broccoli rabe on top was super yummy tho I'm glad they added that. We ordered scallops as well, that was our favorite, it came with corn and they were sweet and crunchy juicy with a blueberry sauce paired well w this yellow sauce as well. The scallops had serrano peppers on top which I love the lil heat of. Kale crab rangoon was just ok!! a bit let down, lots of cream cheese flavor and powered over the crab but the crab essence came thru at the end of the bite. The chocolate mousse was super delicious and I'm not the chocolate ice cream kind of person, it shocked myself. Service was really nice and she made us laugh, bathroom was spacious and had the indication lock I love! Cocktails was keeping us engaged and the whole space is intimate and had a backyard if u want smores.

Olmsted really knows how to make flavors pop with their sauces and spreads. The crudo oil was delicious. The scallops are bountiful. Most impressive was the tagliatelle made of squash. I finally managed to get my car in Cali's parking lot. But, I had to wait for another patron (which…read moredidn't take long) to arrive and I followed them into the restaurant. It's not easy to figure out where the enrtance is. Okay, so I ordered the the ground beef tacos for $12 bucks. You get 2 tacos in a basket with tortilla chips. The chips are a bit weird and different, still not sure how much I liked them. Like Moe's, they have a salsa bar with 4 salsa choices along with various condiments. The salsa's are tasty and I like the flavor in all 3 I tried. I ordered tacos and what they brought to my table resembled a tacos, but the taco expectation ended there. These so called tacos, to me, aren't realy tacos at all. Their assembelled usinf both a hard shell and a soft shell (Taco Bell offers something similar). Whatever you call it, taco is not the thought that comed to mind when eating it. I was hungry and did manage to eat both of the tacos, but considered throwing out the 2nd taco. I was confused and unsure what I was eating. The ground beef wasn't bad, but my main complaint at a Mexican Eatery nearby (Plaza Azteca} is the same. The ground beef is unseasoned. This is fundamentally wrong to me. All the Taco Kits at the grocery store come with a seasoning packet to add to the ground beef when preparing the tacos. I left unhappy, that's not to say I wouldn't try their burrito's. They looked good as seen on other patrons tables. I'm 70 years old and the theme of Cali reminds me of the 60's/70's. The decor, interior, and interior are psychedelic. Retro throwback to the hippie days. The staff reflects that theme - they came across in a kind weird way to me; but not in a bad way! Their is no shortage of happy campers enjoying their lunch (I went at 1PM). It seems like a cult following which speaks to the freshness and quality of the food served. I'm still unsure what was in the alleged tacos I ate. Lol!
