So this is a review, 13 years in the making. I used to work in the Allentown area and one of my coworkers suggested stopping for lunch. I had passed Cali Burrito several times but didn't know much about it. My life was forever changed. My tried and true order is the 'Humbolt". It's perfect in every way and it appeases to vegetarians and meat eaters alike. I have turned several of my friends, family and coworkers on to Cali Burrito over the years. Id like to mention I lived in San Diego and the burritos in Allentown, Pa far exceeded any burrito found in the Golden State. I now live in Virginia Beach area and my love for Cali Burritos knows no distance. Yesterday, I had to take a drive into the area and you better believe I stopped in for a burrito. 720 miles, round trip and worth every mile. read more

I finally managed to get my car in Cali's parking lot. But, I had to wait for another patron (which didn't take long) to arrive and I followed them into the restaurant. It's not easy to figure out where the enrtance is. Okay, so I ordered the the ground beef tacos for $12 bucks. You get 2 tacos in a basket with tortilla chips. The chips are a bit weird and different, still not sure how much I liked them. Like Moe's, they have a salsa bar with 4 salsa choices along with various condiments. The salsa's are tasty and I like the flavor in all 3 I tried. I ordered tacos and what they brought to my table resembled a tacos, but the taco expectation ended there. These so called tacos, to me, aren't realy tacos at all. Their assembelled usinf both a hard shell and a soft shell (Taco Bell offers something similar). Whatever you call it, taco is not the thought that comed to mind when eating it. I was hungry and did manage to eat both of the tacos, but considered throwing out the 2nd taco. I was confused and unsure what I was eating. The ground beef wasn't bad, but my main complaint at a Mexican Eatery nearby (Plaza Azteca} is the same. The ground beef is unseasoned. This is fundamentally wrong to me. All the Taco Kits at the grocery store come with a seasoning packet to add to the ground beef when preparing the tacos. I left unhappy, that's not to say I wouldn't try their burrito's. They looked good as seen on other patrons tables. I'm 70 years old and the theme of Cali reminds me of the 60's/70's. The decor, interior, and interior are psychedelic. Retro throwback to the hippie days. The staff reflects that theme - they came across in a kind weird way to me; but not in a bad way! Their is no shortage of happy campers enjoying their lunch (I went at 1PM). It seems like a cult following which speaks to the freshness and quality of the food served. I'm still unsure what was in the alleged tacos I ate. Lol! read more

Ordered takeout for an outdoor event at union terrace. My wife got a huge order of chips. Pico degallo for about 5 chips, when the order had 50+ cops in it. No napkins or any plastic ware to eat her burrito bowl, which by the way was disgusting. She asked for some sour cream on it, but didn't expect "sour cream" soup. read more

Cali has always been great! Yesterday I went for the Sonoma which I always get. Very disappointed. The tacos had no taste and were very dry. The only thing that was good were the chips. We used to love this place and try to stop on the way to poconos but their customer service has gone down the drain. The cashier kiersten was extremely rude and should not be working at front. I did the build your own burrito bowl and it was delicious! The portion was large and everything was so flavorful. Also tried the queso was also very good. The chips seem to be a mix of corn and flour tortillas so heads up if you are gf! I got my order to go, it was fast and packaged nicely. The inside of restaurant looked like a fun vibe. read more

Solid burritos and lots of condiments for no additional price. Order by the cashier, sit down and they will bring your food to you. Not crazy about the tortilla chips, but the burritos are good. There are a few salsa to choose from ranging from mild to spicy. Not the spot for authentic burritos, but if you need a quick fix, you got it! Friendly service and the ambiance is very "groovy." For what it is, a fast food burrito place, this place deserves five stars. The selection of fillings will satisfy both vegans and carnivores as well as those in between. The burritos are huge as are the bowls. You can make your own, quite a daunting exercise, or you can choose from their carefully curated options. I have yet to try the tacos but I am guessing they are yummy as well. I wish one of these would open on the east end of the Lehigh valley...for those of us in Easton it is quite a drive for lunch. Cali Burrito is a hometown favorite and my go-to place to get a good burrito. For anyone expecting truly authentic Mexican, this is NOT it; however, it is exceptionally delicious. They have a selection of 4-5 house made salsas available for free with your order, at any given time. All of them are good. They also make their own tortilla chips, hot and crispy when they arrive with your order. I love when the chips are on the thicker side because you get that extra flavorful crunch! The food itself is sooo yummy. They have a decent sized menu: Burritos, tacos, enchiladas, rice and beans, guac, and bowls. I always recommend going for the specialty burritos. My favorite is the El Dorado. The aesthetic of this eatery has always been casual, surfer-dude cool, and Californian with just a twist of Jamaican influence thrown into the mix. Love, love, love Cali Burrito! Been patronizing this place for a few years now and it's a favorite. The salsa mixes there are always unique and delicious. One may think that some mixes seem strange and might not work together but they do, and I'm always pleasantly pleased. When my family visits from home this is always on their must go to list. We purchase the Jalapeño Garlic sauce for home and take back to Pittsburgh for family members who never want to run out. There's a lot of bang for the buck portion wise, and the atmosphere is college hangout, casual and fun. I enjoy looking at all the stickers on the walls that can be from bands to brands and everything in between. My only complaint is that I'd like to have more puffy fried tortillas chips in the chip mix, those things are like the crack of the chip mix! read more

This was a new find for me. I was in the area doing a little shopping and I was looking for food. Came on yelp and saw that this place had great reviews. Plus I love a great burrito. Came in and there was a little bit of a line but I didn't mind because that meant a few things for me, I had time to look at the menu and i knew the food was good. I looked over the menu and I was glad to see that they had plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. I'm pescatarian and they even had shrimp on the menu. Yayyy!!! I got the Cortez which consisted of shrimp and I got a veggie build your own bowl. Hey in case I didn't feel like cooking later. The meal comes with chips and they have two bars, one with sauce and one with salsa. So I decided to try a few. The only thing I noticed is that the sides of guacamole and queso were pretty pricey so I skipped having those as a side option this go around. I decided to just get guacamole in my burrito and that was also a little more pricey than normal. Once I couldn't wait until I got home to try the burrito so I took a few bits in the car and it was delicious. The chips were okay a little more crispy than I could have liked but with the salsa they were good. Once I got home I ate my burrito and tried the different sauces on them and they were very original. I would have to say that the jalapeño garlic was my favorite. On our way home from Blue Mountain we found Union and Finch. Unfortunately when we got there the wait for a table was an hour. After another look at Yelp we discovered Cali Burrito. This review is specifically regarding their food allergy accommodations (or lack thereof). My son is allergic to wheat so we asked if he could have a corn tortilla for his taco instead of the included flour tortilla. We were told no. I asked if I could obsess pay for one and was told there was not an option to buy one. Eventually I had to speak to someone else who got special approval from a manager to let me son have a corn tortilla that wouldn't send him to the hospital. Thanks for that! Friends that we were dining with ordered two vegan burritos and both of them found chicken in their burritos. Luckily their food preference is a choice and not a food allergy. But it shows how little regard to cross contamination is given here. From the reviews on Yelp this place looked similar to a New Jersey and Florida chain called Surf Taco. We have never had any issues ordering food our kids could eat at Surf Taco. The management of Cali Burrito needs to pay a visit to a Surf Taco. In the meantime, next time we are on the way home from Blue Mountain we will find a different spot for dinner. read more

After dodging all the pot holes in the parking lot I got in line and looked over the menu. I was still unsure what I wanted when I got to the register so I asked the cashier what their most popular burrito was. He told me that it was probably the El Dorado, which also happened to be his favorite. It was packed with pork, pinto beans, rice, ranchero sauce, and cheese. Sounded good to me, that's what I ordered. I only had to wait a few minutes until my order was ready. This gave me just enough time to check out the salsa bar and the surf shop decorations. After filling up my soft drink and getting some side dishes of their salsa my order number was called. I sat down at one of their tables with my sister and we got started. We were both very hungry so we finished in just a few short minutes. We were satisfied, but not blown away where we would rush to come back here.
