During traveling I do like to check out unique chain locations of any nature/type of business. It's always nice to see what is common elsewhere in the country. I spotted this location close to our final destination and knew my wife and I needed to check it out. I have heard of Wegmans online quite a bit but never looked too far into it. The thing I noticed most in reviews was the size of their hot/pre-made meals being huge. My wife and I were looking for a quick bite after our long drive so knowing they had a large amount of options it was a no brainer to check it out. Everything about this place was massive including with our first part we encountered, the parking lot. Due to being the weekend it was quite full and busy but we did find a spot right away. Inside it is groceries as far as the eye can see, including what felt like the endless selection of hot foods/pre-made section. We ended up grabbing some prepackaged sandwiches which I will say prices were higher than I am use to but the taste of all of them were delicious. Definitely well made sandwiches and if I were local to the area I would return for much more of this section because everything looked appetizing. Check out was quick and easy with no complaints. Will return to a closer location in the future to see more of a Wegmans. read more

Wegmans is amazing however disappointed to see their prepped food continuously increase in price. However I will say the subs and this teriyaki pepper steak bowl are 100% worth the price. The sushi is not worth the price. I used to get the spicy shrimp roll for 6.99 and now it's 8.49!! Also, absolutely love the flowers at the Dewitt location and the beer cave with all the many options. I'm a late bloomer when it comes to Wegmans. Growing up in NYC I had no idea this company existed, and it was only when I went to college and made friends with people from Upstate NY did I hear praises for the supermarket. Eventually, Wegmans expanded into Downstate NY - and now has three locations in the area (Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Harrison). It goes without saying if you're friends with me on Yelp that I've become a convert, and it has become my go-to food shopping destination. But I digress, how does this all relate to a Wegmans in Fayetteville? I was in the area visiting friends and we needed to make a pit stop after dinner - and since this was on the way home we decided to stop in. I learned from my friend that this Wegmans in Fayetteville is one of their largest stores, along with one in Rochester where the company was founded and is headquartered. The store is huge - bigger than the ones I've been to in Harrison and Brooklyn; the selection was familiar but there was just more since the footprint is much larger. The store is easy to navigate, and there are plenty of checkout lanes to handle the crowds during peak drive times. One thing this Wegmans has that ones closer to me do not is a pharmacy; the stores traditionally had pharmacies in them but this is a model the company is moving away from in their newer builds. We were able to quickly find what we were looking for an check out. Overall, I really liked this Wegmans - great selection, easy layout, and really clean. If I lived in the area this would definitely be my go-to supermarket. read more

Daren made my sandwich tonight, a super lemon chicken masterpiece.... with mixed cheeses, greens, peppers and onions, mixed dressings and spreads...incredible. When Daren broke into part of a song as he worked the man waiting next in line said, "They don't sing in Rochester." A good laugh while I waited. Aries's was making a sandwich that looked just as great. And this has to be the best everything sub roll in town. This is an absolutely amazing and massive grocery store that we have to visit each time we're with relatives in Cazenovia. The variety of produce, cheese, and well, everything else is unbelievable. Sadly, the variety of gluten free products, especially flours, seems to have decreased. Overall the customer service is satisfactory although it seems a bit hard on the employees at times; The selection is unbeatable, and the mobile app is helpful although its accuracy on location of goods is 90/10. We had a couple incidents where we received moldy strawberries however we were compensated sufficiently, within reason. I later learned that these incident can occur with any supermarket so although it freaked me out at first I later decided we cannot penalize a business for events that are not always under their control. Not all of the employees like working there; being a personable Guy I get to talking to people and I have definitely gotten the impression that many employees do not feel adequately appreciated and/or come under stress from the push for customer satisfaction (even when the customer happens to be WRONG). Another disappointment is the lack of space; lets face it- the general population is not getting smaller in size, however it seems as though their isles are. I find myself having to move peoples carts and/or ask them to excuse to get by- even me being personable, I do not appreciate the fact that I am forced into any sort of confrontation, no matter how friendly, just to walk down the isle. One of my favorite places to stop in the Northeast by far. This Wegmans location is one of the more premium spots with what essentially has panned out to be a gourmet food court. Moving to the southwest, you don't have many sports that measure up to a regular Wegmans - let alone their premium locations. If you need to stop for groceries, take yourself to this one or the one in Fairmont. Definitely worth the drive and don't get mad at yourself if you end up aimlessly walking around and grabbing things in the aisles! Definitely due to the strategy of their product placements. Only critique here is they are blatantly overpriced for anything that is prepared or set up to be cooked at a faster rate. They could do better. read more

I have to commend Clay /Great Northern Wegmans on their overall experience but an extra shoutout to Jackie Martin who was working prepared foods on September 4th. Jackie was super helpful in preparing a very complex order for my son who works as an investment banker out of our home. She was polite, quick and super friendly putting together our two hot subs. Back in 1990, I moved to the CNY area as a first year teacher where my only friend was my 400 dollar TV. Expensive back then! Like a shampoo bottle, I would: Plan, Teach, Coach, REPEAT. I lived in the Village Green on the golf course but never even played golf at Foxfire (to this day!). I was split between B-vile where I lived and Fulton where I worked and the one place that brought me solace as I got used to this experience of moving from full fraternity house to a deluxe apartment was to visit Wegmans in Clay. I had grown up in Rochester and took Wegmans for granted. To get the stronger community I yearned for, I moved into a low cost apt right in Fulton. Shopped at the Tops, I could walk there, but when I needed "home", I would drive down 481 to Wegmans. 4 years later, I moved in with my wife Heather to Clay to split the difference between our workplaces. Wegmans was a big plus to this move. I am a stone's throw away! I have close friends who are Wegmans Chefs, in charge of Nature's section and so on who are awesome to work with and make the Wegmans experience exceptional. What made this experience so great was the fact that Jackie Martin remembered me as her 8th grade social studies teacher. I wear a mask there so she did this from my voice! This reveal came after my sub was done and she came around the counter to see if she was right about who I was. Wegmans has always been a highlight of my time in Clay but Jackie Martin brought my experience full circle, during this time of preparing for a very different year, reuniting with her and her great work ethic really made my day and reinforcing how we want our students to be!!!! I visit every time I am in Syracuse. A crazy variety of meats, cheeses, specialty items and pre-cooked items. It simply is the best. Most likely you won't find too many people that hate Wegman's. So many of their stores are quite big; you can find much of what you're looking for in groceries/sundries etc. Sure, Weggie's is known for great produce and tons of locally produced dairy/meats, etc. and you'll definitely find all that here. To me, what separates Wegman's is many of their stores, such as the one here in Fayetteville, have pretty amazing eat in food options with lots of cold and hot item choices. And their subs, ooooooohhhhhh their subs!!! This location has a brand new burger bar that serves high endish burgers/fries for between like 8 and 12 bucks, awesome sub counter, a pizza ordering station where you can have them MAKE you a pizza using their high end custom pizza oven, and plenty of sushi, vegetarian choices and other items too. If'n you can't find nuthin' to eat here, you gots you some issues. Their new eat in area has plentiful seating, tons of condiments, heavy duty paper plates for your grub, and they often have free live music. On this day their was a duo playing Christmas tunes and they were pretty good!!! I like overfilling my belly before diving into my grocery shopping, that way I don't buy too much for your fridge and freezer...you know, never go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. I appreciate everything Wegmans is trying to do with the ALL the cleaning and separation at the cashier due to Coronavirus, I am sure it's helping. But I have gone twice since 'stay at home' started, once at 8am, once at 10am. What a difference it makes. It was much calmer earlier, less people, more able to keep distance. There were still so many elderly there and I worry about them bc most customers make an effort and some do not. So the aisles become problematic. I just wish Wegmans would cut back or control how many customers come in... even if we have to wait in line or get a number (like at the deli counter... but just wait in our car). ?? I don't know exactly but something... we are putting a lot of people at risk I think. Just not strict enough. My recommendation- go to stores early!! read more

I'm reviewing the Wegmans as a whole. There is a reason why Wegmans continuously is voted in the top 10 places for people to work. It's such a nice grocery store!!! When I talk to my friends outside of New York, and if they've ever been to Central NY they invariably will say:"Hey, we've been to this great grocery store called Wegmans. Ever been?" lol. Yes. Yes, I have. It's well laid out. You are never short of finding customer service store folks to help you out. They have many aisles of not only groceries but specialty things like gluten-free and vegetarian items, specialty foods like Asian or Mexican or European, housewares, sushi bar, full beverage section, books, magazines and greeting cards, Pharmacy. There's the bulk food section, the prepared meals and cafe section. Even an olive bar. I know I can always pick up local foods such as local dairy cheese curds, fresh produce especially apples from the local orchards, Hoffman's snappy grillers, Dinosaur barbecue, New Hope Mills pancake mixes and a great array of every kind of SU Orangemen fan gear and swag you could think of. Prices tend to be average towards a little more expensive. With the array of all the different items that they offer, prepared fresh meals that are healthy and delicious, great customer service, I always will pay a little more for that. read more

I lived in Maryland for 4 years and when a Wegmans finally popped up, I purposely drove 45 minutes to shop at it. It was like receiving a hug from home. This is the location I frequent the least, as I live furthest from it. It is absolutely the biggest and nicest in the CNY area. They have a wide selection of products in every department, including their own house brand which is great, and this location offers certain things that other locations do not, such as the recently added burger bar. I frequently get their subs (buffalo chicken finger is my favorite), and they offer plenty of ready-to-go meals. Their departments are always well stocked and it's extremely rare that they don't have something I want or need. They have a great deli department, their pharmacy is fast and efficient, and they have a great floral section for a grocery store. Their prices can be slightly higher than other stores, but the quality of product is better, as is the experience of shopping there. Employees are always friendly and seem happy, and they always have plenty of cash register lines open. While it's the biggest location, it is ALWAYS packed and busy. The food is good but I'm not fully satisfied. My sons birthday was today and he really likes legos. Even knock offs. If he can build something then he'll be satisfied. I was doing my daily grocery shopping, service was great and I saw this knockoff lego truck. There was one left and I decided to buy it for his birthday. I didn't think much of it and threw out the receipt like I always do it. Now comes the present time. He unwrapped his gift and loved it. Later today he opened it and was going to build it when it all went bad. First, the manual wasn't even in the box. Second, we thought we had to watch a video to build the Lego when we realized we were missing a bunch of pieces and stickers for the truck. Not even the guy in the cover of the box was in it. Last, some of the legos were built themselves already like someone tried to build it and returned it. My son was very disappointed and upset as that was the only gift I got him because we are low on money. I am normally very happy with shopping with wegmans especially the environment in the store. I've only been to one other Wegmans but this one is definitely the better one. It's large, open 24/7, clean, organized and offers a ton more than just groceries. They have a huge bakery section with long rows of cakes, cookies, breads and tortes. They have a health and wellness section where you can buy protein powders, essential oils, shampoo, herbal products etc. There's a beer and wine section (no hard liquor) that has a $10 pick and choose 6 pack option. They have two aisles for dogs and cats. There is an Asian food aisle that sells more stuff than the average American grocery store (including a fridge with kimchi and tofu). There is a large floral section with nicely made bouquets. There is the ready and hot food section that is categorized by food type (burgers, coffee, sushi, Mexican, etc). There is indoor and outdoor seating. There are special needs grocery carts and ample parking space. They gave birthday cards and outdoor grilling equipment as well as kitchen utensils and tools. They sell toys for kids as well as decorative house pieces like candles, lanterns and fake house plants. This is definitely one of the nicest grocery stores in the Central NY area! read more

This is what a supermarket should be! Wegman's has all of my food needs & more all in one place. I've shopped at this Wegman's before heading back to New England. I will add that Wegman's opened a location in Northborough, MA in 2011, which is much closer to my home. I especially enjoy Wegman's Market Cafe, which offers a great variety of prepared foods including prepared meals, soups, pizza, pasta, Asian foods, sushi bar, roasted chicken, subs, salad bar, and cooking demos. The food here is good quality and tasty. I enjoy the flavored coffees from the coffee/cappuccino bar. Wegman's even has "out of town" newspapers near the front of the store. Wegmans is probably THE best grocery store in the US. It really has everything you could need to meet your grocery needs. I miss Wegmans now that I live on the West Coast, but I always get a sense of nostalgia when I visit one. This was my go-to store growing up so it really gives me all the feels. I love the produce section--it's well laid out and organized. The cheese and olive bars were my faves when I was younger and I like how expanded the cafe is now--including the burger bar! There are a lot of local goodies to find here, so that impulse shopping is usually what happens to me. I really enjoy their selection of bulk candy and how you can taste it before buying. It really is a shame that other supermarkets who try to emulate this store do so very poorly. On a recent road trip to Tully NY, traveling friend and I stopped in at Wegman's. To those of you who have shoped at Wegman's know the joy of shopping in a store like this. Need to get a quick lunch or meal? Go to Wegman's! Need a cake for an event? Go to Wegman's. Yes, competitors have cake and takeout, but not like Wegman's. and this location also has an outside dining patio. and then I visited the restroom. OMG! I want this sink. Soap, water AND dryer all at the same sink all located in a clean room. Friend was amazed at the regular prices. Wegman's brand coffee. 100% arabica for a mere $2.59 / can. First off, I've been forced to live in many parts of the country without a Wegman's and nothing, I mean NOTHING, comes close to Wegman's for a food shopping 'experience'. The options. The amazing customer service. The general layout of the store. It's all AMAZING! They've always had some eat-in options, but the Fayetteville Wegman's store now has an amazing cafe with more options than one can really handle. My wife and I had burgers from the Burger Bar, and were able to substitute side salads in place of fries - and not mundane iceberg and a few carrot flake salads either - my wife had a Cobb and I had a Kale and Arugula. Get that at Red Robin? Nooooo. Then we added some sushi for an appetizer. One kid wanted the loaded nachos, and being a kid, unloaded most of the ingredients so the counter person gave us a discount. The other ankle biter had a chicken tender meal that came with a drink and ice cream. The new eating area has an even better ambience, is much larger, live music tonight(Thursday night), kids areas, big screens with lots of views big options, big comfy lounge chairs for coffee, wine, or beer drinking, and great WiFi. I have shopped at the DeWitt store for over 30 years - I even worked in the deli 20 years ago! What a wonderful store it used to be. Known for its wide variety and selection - if you can't find it anywhere, you'll find it at Wegmans! Well, when the father passed away, so did the stellar business sense. Over the last 10 years, Wegmans has done nothing but disappoint. This has nothing to do with the "covid years". Slowly, Danny (& Colleen) have changed all aspects: customer service (the employees act annoyed when I ask them a questions, then when they don't know the answer, they leave me hanging...they don't go the extra step to find out the answer), quality, selection, ease of shopping. For a long time, they've made it their practice to move things around - not a little bit, but quite a lot - so you can't find anything without asking. Right now, their idea of "reorganizing" is keeping organic vegetables AWAY from other organic vegetables. And the organic fruit in about THREE DIFFERENT places!! Also, for decades, you can find the parmesan cheese in the same aisle as the spaghetti and the spaghetti sauce. Not now! Two weeks ago I found it two aisles away!! And today when I was looking for it, it appeared only on a small portion of the smallest end cap near the butter!!! Lastly, they continue to "discontinue" items that have been selling quite well. Makes no sense other than they are slowly trying to become a seller of Wegmans products only. In fact, several months ago, an employee told me their plan was to become more of a BJ's and carrying only Wegmans brand. Well, I was looking for toilet paper today and saw lots of 12-packs. I only want a 4-pack. Over the past 2 years, I've found myself buying more and more at Trader Joe's (their produce is FAR above that of Wegie's and their prices are much lower - and all I buy is organic!!) I spend about $125/week at Trader's and about $50 at Wegies. Happily, today's visit was the last straw and gave me the boot I needed to end my 30+ year relationship with Wegmans. My visit, for about 15 items, took me 1 1/2 hours! It is like a treasure hunt every week. Well, Danny & Colleen, my time is worth much more to me.
