The space itself is small, so I'd definitely suggest calling ahead to see if they have room. There's basically no indoor waiting area, and standing by the door or outside in the winter, like we did, got uncomfortable enough that we almost left for another place, even though the wait was only about 20 minutes. Our server was friendly and tried to stay on top of things, but you could tell she was a bit overwhelmed with how busy it was and the constant flow of people coming through the door. In our group, a couple of the burgers came out very undercooked, with blood pooling on the plate. No one had been asked how they wanted their burger cooked and it wasn't mentioned when we ordered, so it was an unpleasant surprise even if it wasn't exactly anyone's "fault." I ordered the spicy Korean fried chicken sandwich, which ended up being just okay. The bottom of the bun was soggy, so it fell apart and was hard to pick up and eat. The kimchi on the sandwich didn't bring much flavor or heat, so it kind of missed the mark for something that's supposed to be a bold, spicy option.

Well, anyways, in this competition, the best bartender space was occupied by a Vic Muscat who bartended at the brattleboro bowl; therefore we came to visit the best bartender and see what he was all about. The service that we recieved was above and beyond, and we where tended to in a friendly and welcoming environment. I personally thought that the bar is an absolutely wonderful upgrade to the bowling alley, and can just imagine how nice and convienent it is for a girl to get a cocktail with her friends, or even keeping a close eye while the kids enjoy themselves and keep themselves occupied bowling and playing in the arcade. Overall, great establishment, absolutely amazing staff, and a great time.

For what it is, the food is awesome, the music is great, and they've decorated it so well--especially the backyard and stage area. They've truly done an amazing job. It's hands down my favorite bar in the entire state. There's always a good time to be had--whether you're sitting next to locals, ski instructors, or people on vacation. Dogs hanging out in the yard, cheap and tasty food... it's just the best and everyone knows it no matter what state you're in!

Penuche's. The Nooch…read more A friend of mine told me a story about the time he accidentally (his words) smoked crack in Penuche's. IN the bar. Penuche's has three locations in New Hampshire - I've only ever been to the Keene one. They have cheap beer, and The Nooch is well known and loved by all who like to drink. It's dark and dirty in here, clouds of cigarette smoke (before the fascists banned smoking in NH) and free, all you can eat, super salty popcorn. By cheap beer I mean they have a Kick the Keg special nearly every weekend, in which draughts are fifty or seventy five cents. Long Trail for a buck on Thursdays - cheap shots, and so on... Another thing - this is the kind of place where if you walk in before noon on a Tuesday and order a few rounds of bourbon and a bunch of beers, nobody looks at you like you're weird or something. Odds are you won't be the only one doing it. Overall, a legendary and heroic monument to drunkeness, alcoholism, and good old fashioned fun.

We did stop at The Marina to eat but stood at the host desk waiting for someone to greet us for 10 minutes and we just kept being ignored by servers walking thru so we decided to walk out of The Marina and keep going. (Note to self, make Mondays in Vermont for driving, or nature, & less to-do activities). At Bar 580 a really friendly bartender/server made for a very welcoming experience. We had a tasty Ruben sandwich, great fries and a bowl of 580 Mac n cheese (with bits of diced jalapeño pepper and creamy local Grafton cheddar cheese! This was great tasting casual dining. For fun we enjoyed playing billiards on the 2 smaller tables up front. The sun-streaming & huge outdoor space on the back patio looked inviting, facing the woods and a fire pit. (but I request better seating other than only the picnic tables please) Thanks again to the Monday afternoon bartender for the friendly Vermont hospitality! From the moment we arrived, the home was warm, cozy, and incredibly inviting. We both slept so well, and woke up to the most delicious, homemade breakfast - that you seriously can't get anywhere else. Patti, the owner, was so welcoming and kind. She went above and beyond to make us feel at home, and her hospitality made our trip even more special. We hope to be back :)
