Or going through the round barn and arguing about the Fair's choice for best-in-show quilt, or seeing the children's craft and agricultural exhibits (young Maia, who turned out a remarkable autumn-themed fired pottery candleholding centerpiece, will go far!). There's a good amount of parking, something fairs ought not take for granted, and the FRTA runs shuttles to the downtown on the days after opening night. And seriously: do yourself a favor next year and watch the parade, snaking down Federal, Main and River Streets. The parade's only part of the wonder -- that the three-mile parade route is jammed with spectators, many plainly taking off from work to be there when it kicks off at 5 PM, that's a throwback to an earlier, kinder age.

The motel smelled musty, had stains on the bathroom sink and counter, but mostly it was the VERY large spiders in webs around the room. It freaked out my daughter and really put a damper on things. How hard is it to put a dust rag over a broom and sweep the corners of the room? It would take 2 minutes and result in a much better tip!
