I took my dog for grooming he had matted hair they did good with his hair but they did a treatment for fleas without letting me know my dog had no fleas bc i had been giving him the flea pill for 3 months so that was weird when it was time to pay it was 500 dollars For the hair which i was expecting to pay 120 thats fine but they also did blood work otherwise he couldn't get groomed said the lady. That was around 300 and then she put some pills for heart worm disease and flea pills without even asking me first, they already had a sticker with my name. I just feel like they should ask before assuming and i dont think blood test are necessary to groom a dog. read more

We have been with Greenbriar for over 20+ years and 10+ pets (including cats, dogs, birds, and a snake.) He is reasonably priced, but his caretaking of our pets is invaluable. He has guided us through heart murmurs, tumors, and other strange ways that our dogs (mostly) became ill. But, he is always there for our family and pets on the good times, too! PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GO. Im so sad to report this was a terrible experience because it is located so close to me. The young lady at the front desk, although new, she was nice.(The one and only reason they have 1 star. I had a 4:30 appointment but sat in the waiting room, no other clients mind you, for 35 minutes to be taken back to a waiting room to wait for another 15 minutes for a vet tech to come in. She did not introduce herself and coldly started asking questions, very little interaction with my pup other than sticking a thermo up his butt. She walked out. Waited another 15 minutes, (mind you Im the only one there in the clinic), for the vet to come in. He did not introduce himself or really say much other than to start interrogating me about the care of my pup. He stated, with a prosecuting tone, he called the last vet I took my pup too and that they said they had not seen him in 3 years. I told him that I used another vet in town close to my house for vaccinations, heartguard, etc, but that vet had retired a little over a year ago. Now being on the defense, I said that I was aware he needed to have shots, etc. done, but the reason I brought him in that day was because of a cough he had for a couple of days and to look at growth in his ear that had popped up almost overnight. I explained to him that I only used the vet in Arlington for serious matters because they had specialists on staff. Then he had the nerve to argue with me about when the local vet I referenced for vaccines retired! As I work for the city the vet was located in and run a rescue I'm very aware of the exact time that vet retired as I was in there almost weekly for meds or exams for rescues taken in. As I was growing more annoyed, he then started examining my pup and told me that he would need surgery for a tumor on his ear and that I would first have to start out with blood work before he even did anything else. Which I was fine with bloodwork, but I knew it was not a tumor on his ear, because I know my dogs. He left the room to go work up an estimate. He came back and wanted to charge almost 500.oo just to do blood work. In all my 18 years in rescue and all the vets I've been to including specialists I have never had anyone charge that much for blood work. The most I have ever paid for a blood panel was 175.00 and that was from an emergency vet. I told him I would go back to my vet in Arlington for a second opinion. My pup and I walked out. The rude vet tech came running out in the parking lot yelling at me that I still had to pay a 76.00 exam fee. I went in and paid it reluctantly and now I'm here hoping that you will not take your precious babies to this vet. The "tumor" he said that would have to be surgically removed was caused from having chronic ear infections as hound dogs do and was an infected abscess in his ear that is being treated with antibiotics. Now I know why there is rarely anyone ever there at this place. read more

So-called clinic manager (Rebecca) and her rude-as-all-get-out doctor of a husband are worth more trouble than what they'll ask you to pay, and the care they'll give I know for a fact is better at other places. . I've taken my dog to that place for a couple of years now but it has gone downhill from back when I started taking the dog. I took the dog for grooming and the office called that he needed 2 shots in order to get groomed the lady said it would be $15 each. I asked if that's all the charges and she said yes. When I arrived the price was twice as much as she quoted. They said there's a exam fee and also they treated him with flea treatment that they never asked me to do. The doctor there an older man and the grooming lady are so rude, when I tried to explain what they had quoted me they cut me off and takes over me multiple times. The doctor there even told me BE QUIET, that was the last straw. To be treated that way. I will never return and do yourself a favor and find another vet hospital to take your precious pet. The groomer even showed me where I declined the exam fee but still they went ahead and did it and try to charge me. They did have a new person up front that's still learning but if she doesn't know then someone should teach her. We took our little pup to stay with them for about 4 days. You can imagine as puppy parents you are already hesitant to let anyone else take care of your baby. You know what they need, want and how to make them happy. Welp. Thinking of all the reviews from many different places, I thought to weigh my food, count my treats and buy her a brand new toy. Keep in mind, I know how she plays with certain toys so I took this one in particular because I know what it should look like when I pick her up provided it was given to her to play with. The day came from us to pick her up. I was astonished and VERY disappointed to count all treats in the bag, there was no difference in weight from the food and guess what... her toy was manipulated but not how she plays with it. My dog is like clock work, I can give her the same brand new toy and I know what she does with each time. Someone tried to make it seem like she played with it when I know she didnt. I almost should I have it was going to go down hill when we checked her in and the front desk person was clueless. She told me I needed X,Y,Z and needed to get certain shot to let her stay. When I asked what that was she said verbatim: "I dont know!". I asked her to go find out. When we picked her up the same woman was there and still seemed as clueless as ever, didnt know how much ANYTHING was or why it was/wasnt done. To even more concern, we picked her up and she had a bottom that was raw, swollen and kept rubbing it on the ground. Not cool. How is it that we pick our baby up from her Vet (mind you we have only had to use them once) and the Vet (or boarding folks) doesn't even take care of her correctly. Note we also has called while we were there. I specifically said I want her to eat her own food and treats, hell I wouldn't have minded if they shared her goodies with others. They told me she was eating well and happy. Really! I dont believe that for a second. Once we picked her up she was sucking down water like she had not had any in days. She had so much pent up energy, I am sure they were not taking her out for her "exercise time". Needless to say, I will not be taking her back here for boarding or any vet service. I would NEVER recommend these folks EVER. I will choose to take her somewhere else where they can treat her with as much love and affection as we do. read more

This is the only place I would take my fur babies, all 4 of them!!! I recommend it everyone I talk to. We use them for check ups and boarding have had nothing but the best of service every time. I love the way the groomer makes them look and smell after being boarded. Dr. Shumacher and his staff are the best. Anytime I have a problem, he is great about answering it. As I read the negative reviews (the only ones showing on this site), I have to shake my head and wonder what really happened. read more

I am furious with this clinic. I went to pick up my dog and was advised that I was being charged $50.00 for a capstar because my dog had fleas. This is unacceptable!!! What if I did not have the $50.00. Why would you not call me to come pick up my dog if she truly had fleas. My house and yard is exterminated every 3 months. It was just exterminated on Friday my dog was not itching yet you found 2 or 3 fleas on her. I think that is a scam and they are a bunch of scam artist. Small business that I will no longer support. This vet misdiagnosed my dog then told us to take him to a dermatologist. He went on to tell us that the dog needs a different home, one that is more strict. I understand we could be better dog owners but giving us no solutions besides "go somewhere else" is not helpful. Our dog has some type of skin problem and we need help. read more

If you have an emergency DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! My sister's husband took their dog there because of an apparent heat stroke. In the midst of the emergency he grabbed the dog and got there without his wallet. When REBECCA the secretary asked for the 700.00 deposit he said he did not have his wallet but would call his wife to get there and pay. When my sister got there and paid, the BI#* had the nerve to say that the deposit was paid and NOW they can start treatment. REALLY??!! They would let your pet die if you do not pay up front. Oh! And she had been taking her pet there for years and had NEVER had a pending bill to pay. And to top it all off, when my sister asked for copies of labwork she asked her why and then proceeded to say that she will have to give a biology class for her to understand. 1 she does not need to know why, and 2 her sister is a healthcare professional and can help her read lab results. Rebecca is VERY insensitive and VERY unprofessional. If she does not know this, for a lot of people a pet is like family and for them it was like their child. We've been going here for a few years. Our dog suffered from a massive heat stroke.My husband took him there desperate without his wallet. The doctor did not start treatment right away as they're suppose to, and they waited for me to get there to start treatment without telling us. When I paid the deposit , the lady (Rebecca) at the counter told us "ok now we can start treatment". This was an emergency, my dog was dying and I was trusting them with his life. Vets do take an oath like human doctors to try everything they can and then bill. We've been coming here for YEARS now and never had any problem paying. We got a little upset when we found out they started treatment after I paid and she acted like if we had no say in this. MY DOG IS DYING!!! And she had no sensibility on the issue whatsoever. Next day, my dog passed away. When we were paying, what a convenience, everything done equaled to the deposit. I asked for his lab work and annoyed she told us she had to copy the all the breakdown of the lab, I insisted and she said that I would have to take biology classes to be able to read and understand them. When she went through "all the trouble to make the copies of all the breakdown" it was only one paper. MY DOG JUST DIED, I want to know EVERYTHING that was done to try and save him. They had no sensibility whatsoever about the situation and I believe they did not do whatever at their disposal and with the urgency needed to try and save him.
