I am very disappointed. I went in this evening to inquire about a new movement for my watch. When I told her that I had a battery done recently and that my watch was still losing time, she said that my watch was not worth a new movement, which costs about $125 to $150. I explained that the watch was worth more than that, and had sentimental value and that I had no problem spending the money. She then proceeded to tell me that the watch was running on time and wasn't broken. I explained that I had just reset it in the car before walking in, and she then said that the watch person was not going to get to me for at least 10 days because "there are other people in front of you". I felt like she didn't want my money or business. I purposefully went into a small, privately-owned establishment rather than a chain store, but I feel that I would have had better service and better luck somewhere else. She then walked away while I was in mid-sentence to answer the phone and proceeded to ignore me. If the owner reads these, I would hope he would take away the following three points: 1. As the customer, it is up to me to establish what I am willing to invest in my pieces. It is not up to the clerk to establish what it is "worth". "Worth" is a subjective term. 2. Ignoring a customer and then reluctantly admitting them into the store 3 hours before closing does not leave a good impression. 3. Jewelry is an emotional, relational industry. There was no attempt to establish rapport, welcome me into the store, or in any way make me feel that my business was valued. In fact, my presence was treated as an annoyance and inconvenience. From the 2 locked doors, and the "Rob someone else" sign and the "if we are busy you'll have to make an appointment or wait sign", to the lack of welcome or even a simple hello, it seems like clients are an unwelcome presence. However, based on the giant "We buy Gold" signs, their money certainly is welcome. Perhaps you could just put out a collection plate or hire a robot since personal interactions are not something you are willing to invest in order to gain business.

What really stood out to me was the inconsistency in their pricing. Designer items were quoted significantly lower than expected--far less than what I was offered for gold and silver. That lack of balance and knowledge in evaluating items was disappointing and made me question their expertise. Customer service overall was poor. The staff was not very attentive or welcoming, and there was little effort to make customers feel comfortable during the long wait. If you're going to have people waiting for extended periods, there should at least be basic accommodations like seating, Wi-Fi, or access to a public restroom. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional, unorganized, and lacking in proper customer care. I would not recommend this location based on my second and final visit.

Jim is our longtime contact at the business. He's made fantastic recommendations over the years, that were tailored to my taste. When my late husband decided to upgrade my engagement & wedding ring we chose beautiful diamonds with Jim's assistance. The ring was purposefully left without the center stone. Jim then brought out a choice of fine diamonds of different shapes & sizes. I was able to choose the one that fit my taste & finger/hand shape, I couldn't have been happier with the final product. One benefit of choosing fine diamonds is that their value only increases over time. And you can be certain that you're receiving quality stones at Long Jewelers by the Bay. I would never have the same faith in a Jeweler as I do with Jim. Cleanings are complementary if you just stop in. I need to check on appraisals since their judgement is impeccable. Problem is, about 6 months ago, I came looking to buy a firearm & I was next in line & and the guy in front of me had a rifle in his hand and was clearly intoxicated. I kept my mouth shut & then asked the staff about a particular gun, & the very intoxicated guy was saying how he could do this or that before I ever had a chance to get the gun out & I'm just like, yeah whatever dude. And I'm not sure if he's the owner or manager but he was sitting behind the counter as this was going on, & I just felt like maybe he just didn't want to say anything to the guy & I just personally feel alcohol and firearms don't mix. It sucks that Google only allows you to make 1 review, because again I may rate a restaurant highly 1 day, but my next visit could suck. Well I ended up walking out purely because of this customer. I left a negative review, purely because of this customer. I will fucking kill you." I turned around & just went to leave and he ran at me and went to hit me from behind and the whole staff was screaming at him and grabbed him. A nice guy walked me to the door, and apologized for what happened. I'm going to let the situation go, but it's just absolutely insane and bad, bad, bad business. To put your hands on a customer because of a negative review when I literally even mentioned it had nothing to do with the staff but a customer, and to act that way. Absolutely insane to me. Never experienced anything like it in my life. I think the staff is very friendly, at least the ones I've interacted with and I thought the same about this guy as well until this happened. I just think it's crazy unprofessional, obviously illegal, and if they don't delete the camera footage, it would entirely back up what I'm saying, but I'm letting the situation go, and just moving on but to say it bothered me, would be an understatement. He's probably actually a really cool guy and maybe was just having a bad day, but if you are going to let a review of 1 bad experience push you to act that way, then customer service certainly isn't for you.
