Here's the deal: Far as a can tell all the Greene Brothers location all have a similar concept . It's a small and intimate place far from the newer style of lounge coffee shops. Not a lot of privacy for work or conversations. I'm not sure this is a bad thing just be prepared. My favorite place to stop off for a hot or iced coffee or tea and a snack. It's so cozy and inviting. I enjoying browsing the shelves here. They have wonderful unique items that make great gifts. Their coffee beans are always fresh, and they have delicious flavor selections. One of their employees taught me about loose leaf tea, and I've been enjoying it ever since. I have a nice collection of tea pots with infusers from here. They have a great Stash tea selection here too. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. read more

Interesting blends of coffee (four different choices at the sampling area) very tightly packed store with so much to take in for a first timer. Cinnamon Egg Nog sounded interesting, so I picked up a bag which they ground fresh. Being a "regular coffee" guy figured to try something different (for me). Definitely will return. read more

I was a customer at Greene Brothers for quite a few years. Loved their coffee selections and baked goods until a couple of years ago. They changed their baked goods supplier. Current baked goods are unimpressive, much smaller portion and they don't taste good. And they seem to always run out of selections in midday. We stopped going there recently because we found better places in town. read more

Excellent coffee! I always buy my coffee drinks from here because I can't stand the burned coffee taste I so often get elsewhere from over-roasted beans. I also purchase my beans/grounds here occasionally when I'm in the mood for some drip coffee because, again, I'm snobby and theirs is the best! They also carry my favorite brand of chai lattes that has been hard to find since I moved away from the west coast. I LOVE this place. Great coffee and cozy. Only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars is a few guys are very friendly and everyone knows everyone and its always very loud. Feels like a sports bar. I do not mind talking as it's not a library but every time I have been here it's impossible to get work done with the constant people talking at the top of the lungs. Quaint little laid back cafe where they ROAST THEIR OWN COFFEE! If you're a fanatic for freshness like I am, Greene's Beans is your place to buy coffee. I've only been to one other place where they roast their own (Java House here in DC), and it's amazing--though not surprising--how the fresh roast contributes to the flavor of the coffee. I discovered a few years back after a trip that my favorite terroire for coffee is Guatemala, and Greene's Beans has a varietal called Huehuetenango that is the perfect balance of flavor and boldness for my palate. I always leave with a ground pound to savor at home until my next visit home to visit my Mom. Greene's beans is also a quirky kind of place that is never too crowded and people can engage in quiet conversation. The local high schoolers working there are always competent and friendly and there's no attitude. They're happy to help you if you want to stray from your typical latte to explore the rest of their offerings. I've seen impromptu guitar playing and like that this is a place enjoyed by both young and old and in between. read more

This pleasant enough spot offers a huge variety of roasts, flavored java and some specialty teas, along with tons of bric-a-brac that other reviewers have been thoughtful enough to share. While others have complained about the knowledge of the staff, my experience suggested otherwise--she seemed pretty capable of answering all sorts of coffee-related questions. Coffee at Greene Brothers may not be absolute top of the line, but it's very respectable. And with these options, you're going to find something up your alley, and it does have the capacity to deliver a pour-over on the spot, along with some seating. But that's where there's room for improvement. It only half-heartedly gets the coffee shop vibe right, and by positioning itself almost exclusively as retail rather than a sit-down environment, it feels a bit unwelcoming. No one was seated while I was there, and I can't imagine cracking open my laptop with some java when Starbucks (and even Dunkin Donuts) would feel more suitable. And while I hate to cavil about something an establishment isn't doing--that it has no obligation whatsoever to do--I feel like Greene Brothers is missing out on a coffee shop market that a town with the size and personality of Hackettstown ought to have. Heck, it could team up with Mars down the street and make itself into one heck of a chocolate bar on top of it all! When I was in middle school I would go to Greenes Beans every day after school. I loved the service everyone that works there is incredibly nice and easy to talk to. It has been three years since I left middle school and I go back as often as I can. Greenes Beans roasts their own coffee in the store. They also offer a wide variety of coffee teas and drinks. They also sell little trinkets, tea pots, tea cups etc. They also sell some food such as bagels, brownies, cupcakes, and in the fall pumpkin and apple pie. Ok, so to start off, im a bit of a coffee snob and also im not from the area, so maybe this is what NJ thinks coffee is but I knew I was in trouble when the guy pronounced it "expresso". I walked in and was a little confused, the layout was that of a convenience store with those self serve push button cappuccino machines, as well as the self server coffee cylinders (not good for fresh coffee). I asked for a decaf americano and what I got was a bubbling hot espresso nightmare that i got 1st degree burns from (no joke). After quite sometime, I was able to sip some of the coffee and it just wasnt that great. I figure, a roaster should have good coffee period since they roast it onsite though maybe they don't roast their own espresso. I would skip this place and hit up a mcdonalds to get some Newmans own, which is much better unfortunately. read more

I'll get straight to the point- they have AMAZING coffee, tea, and snacks. I was passing through towns with a couple of my friends on a hiking trip, and me being a coffee lover, I had to stop by here after seeing the amazing reviews. I had been going to Dunkin' for about 3 days, so when I walked in, I was shocked by all the exotic flavors. Flavors changed every day, and they ranged from Ethiopian style coffee, to Hawaiian styled coffee. It was great, probably the best coffee I've ever had. It was so good I had to buy two whole bags of their cofee dispite it being 40 dollars. I went there every single day of the trip from there on out. Ever since then, I go to Hackettstown on the weekends to pick up a new bag of coffee whenever I run out of their coffee. The atmosphere in the shop is amazing, I came during the cold winter and man was it warm in their shop. They play soft music and the coffee shop was adorned very carefully and they did an amazing job. I always sat in their tiny sitting area watching the sun rise every morning for a full week. It is also good to know that the staff was very kind and happy to take any requests (within reason of course.) There is even a bathroom available to the public in their shop. If you're a coffee/tea lover and you just so happen to be in the Warren county area GO HERE!!! This is in my opinion the BEST COFFEE SHOP in the Tri-State Area BY FAR. A very easy to miss location with subpar parking and the use of styrofoam cups are my only complaints about this indie coffee shop. The staff is friendly and ready to help. The space is pretty basic, but also kind of cool because it's not a cookie cutter coffee spot. I like locally roasted beans and this is one of my go to places to buy them. Pricing is typical and the choices are good (some Fair Trade and organic options). They also offer random handmade goods and other "stuff" you can purchase. I picked up a mug for my niece which was handmade in Mexico. I'd prefer to support small businesses that also support small businesses.
