It was such a beautiful night, my parents and I came and we each got our own pizza. Pizza came out in maybe 15 minutes, we sat and waited and just chilled. It was a beautiful night. I am so appreciative that Windy Brow has a vegan cheese option, so I could be included! I got the Margherita pizza and subbed vegan cheese. The crust and dough were incredible - so fluffy, perfectly crispy, amazing thick crust. The vegan cheese was also great, and the sauce too. Just a perfect pizza. My dad got a regular Margherita and loved it, and my mom got the fungi pizza with mushrooms and was raving about it. My boyfriend got the pig and fig and (of course) loved it as well. We all raved to each other about how amazing everything was. For a farm to do something like this when they don't need to, shows that they love what they do! You can really feel the love in the pizza. We then got ice cream after since the ice cream stand was still open. I got the vegan dark chocolate sea salt (literally incredible, perfect consistency, I love hard ice cream so this was amazing), my boyfriend got Madagascar vanilla and said it was a perfect classic vanilla, my dad said the cherry vanilla was the best he's ever had, and my mom who doesn't love ice cream got the lemon blueberry butter cake and was raving about it. Phenomenal job!!!!! So appreciative to live near a spot like this. Blessings!

My husband thought it tasted watered down and while I didn't dislike the sweet corn and honey, I wouldn't need to try it again. They do have really cool flavors, and maybe it was my own thing, but I didn't really want to ask to try too many of them as the lines are long here. I tried the taylor ham and french toast one and while interesting... wasn't for me lol The girl taking the ice cream orders was fine. One thing I will say is my little guy is an ice cream loving toddler (as they tend to be) and he had one bite of the ice creams and passed. We were both pretty shocked. Even after several tries, he was not interested... The bakery/store was cute, but not much left. Prices were also a bit steep - $6 for a tony croissant. Perhaps earlier in the morning when they might've been fresher, I would've considered it more, but it looked like it had been sitting. The girl at the register was very nice though. We had originally wanted to come to try the pizza, but when we arrived around 5pm on a Sunday, it was an hour and a half wait even if we wanted the pizza to go. The guy over there was really nice and apologetic even though he didn't need to be. Hopefully we can try it at some point if we're ever nearby again. additional note - there are only 2 port-a-pottys for restroom needs.

I was in town for the 2pm Lion King Jr. performance at the church just down the street, featuring my #1 Honorary Young Pup as a certain uptight red-billed hornbill (if you know you know). Sustenance was in order, and I wasn't looking for anything too heavy so this brunchy coffee spot seemed ideal - and it pretty much was. There was ample parking in the lot behind the building, but the place was pretty packed when I walked in. Even though I had to weave through a crowd to get to the counter, there wasn't an actual line and I was able to immediately order. Cute spot; looks like it's been fairly recently redone (last few years?) and I enjoyed the bathroom, which features very classy artwork of aristocratic felines on the walls. The soap dispenser is in a weird/awkward spot far to the left of the sink where it's almost impossible not to drip directly onto the floor, but at least they have one. I decided on the Protein Berry Crunch Toast and a slice of their Lemon Blueberry Loaf. Both were very tasty/hit the spot. I got the slice immediately upon ordering and considered getting a second one while I waited for the Toast. Cooler heads prevailed. It felt at least a little less naughty than that lemon loaf that Starbucks has, primarily because of the lack of icing (it has powdered sugar on top instead) and was moist; not too crumbly. The Toast came out probably in 10 minutes or so, which I think is perfectly acceptable given that it was clearly busy in there with both in-person and online orders. For the most part, I thought the combo of ingredients worked really well together; I was a little apprehensive about the cheese coming in, but it's pretty subtle and only dominant in a few random bites. I think the weakest part of the toast is the blueberries, but that's honestly more of a personal palate call than anything else - it just didn't totally mesh with the cheese for me and didn't have the vibrant taste of the other included fruits. But same token, part of the optics of this dish hinges on that blue. Everything is a balancing act. I'd totally get that again in a pinch, especially if I wasn't looking for a giant meal. The service/hospitality was very good, almost too good. After I finished my loaf, I left its wrapper and my number card (for them to locate me for the rest of my order) on the table while I used the restroom, and they were both picked up by an employee doing a sweep. That's arguably on me, who temporarily abandoned a table that looked like it had nothing but garbage on it. Even though it required 10 seconds worth of troubleshooting to get my number back, I don't know how you don't consider that a positive on the part of the staff. The same guy took my "real" garbage on my way out before I had a chance to bring it back inside. Very friendly, pleasant staff. Nice spot if you happen to be around. Will try to sample the coffee options on my next foray.

Right across the street from Thorlabs' world headquarters, occupying a space once held by the beloved Town and Country deli, Hugo DeLuca's has a built-in audience just south of Spring Street, close to the MVC. But service is so slow. They appear to pre-prepare almost no ingredients for the lunch rush, and on my most recent visit, the guy working the flattop blissfully ignored the two waiting orders in favor of chatting up his buddy. After all that wait, the food is just so basic. My grilled chicken wrap wasn't tightly packed, and had no greens or other textural contrast. My friend said the roasted veggie sandwich wasn't worth it, either. She spoke more favorably of the crispy eggplant sub on a different visit. Some locally owned places can be better than chain restaurants, but in my experience, this isn't one of them.

Some of the pound cakes and brownies are tasty, pies, some cake and cupcakes. Cons: Not consistent with lunch menu items and what sides are supposed to come with meals - all depends upon the staff or if they are running low on sides. Breads are sometimes under-cooked and just plain doughy. "Fresh baked" cookies are too heavy on the sugar and sadly not made with butter. Andover location is in serious need of paint, a new window sill outside and a cleaning! No clue if they use preservatives or fillers. To start with, Café Pierrot has a lunch menu which states what sides, toppings, or ingredients are included on a salad, sandwich, soup or wrap. Depending upon whom is making your lunch it will vary each time and many times NOT include what it is supposed to on their menu. All wraps are supposed to have potato salad, pasta salad and greens. Sometimes you may get an average portion of these sides, sometimes just a heaping spoonful, other times you may only be given one or two of the sides. One of the wraps states "with EXTRA potato salad". Uh, no. Never happens - why have a menu then? If you order one of their salads, good luck getting what is supposed to be part of that dish. And they are very skimpy on the greens. I've stopped ordering salads, because its just not worth it when you DON'T get everything that you are supposed to! Some days you order soup to go and they will include several slices of their bread, with another young lady you get nothing. Or, if they are running low on the sides, someone may skimp, but to be quite honest, why cheat the customer? Mind you, you are still paying FULL price for these dishes. Maybe the staff needs a refresher on what it states on their menus and to stay consistent! Walnut Coconut Bars - twice now we've tried these, which COULD be delicious - first time the walnuts in this bar were stale. I thought, well, maybe it's just this one time and I questioned to myself whether any of the staff tastes the walnuts to insure freshness or are there expiration dates on these things? We tried again almost 2 months later - yep - same thing. Entire bar is riddled with stale walnuts. WHY??? That's unacceptable. Moving on to the condition of this establishment. Not trying to be mean, but you walk up to the little building where they have the Café (they own several buildings on this property) and you cannot miss the completely rotted window sills in front - why would you let this go for so long? And you just celebrated your 30th Anniversary? Also, there is some sort of antique mill sitting in front - rusted to high Heaven - again, it can't be there for any kind of décor because at this point its an eyesore. On the latest visit - since we were waiting for so long for an order to be done (which we called ahead and gave it MORE than ample time to finish) I happened to look towards the corner that leads into back area where they prep and bake and maybe 20 large bags of flour were stacked against the wall - next to them some lawn and leaf type trash bag dangling over something and I looked above and there were dark cobwebs dangling from the ceiling over the bags of flour and trash bag. Not appealing at all. Not to mention, the walls looked dirty and all around it's in need of cleaning and fresh paint. Just makes me wonder what else is lurking in the back where they prepare the food when the entrance to the place is rotting and the place needs to be painted and cleaned? Does the owner ever take a look or care? They offer so called fresh baked cookies if you call at least 30 minutes ahead (their policy, not mine). OK, we tried this and when I called I was told it will be about 30-45 minutes. Fine, no problem. We arrived an hour later, figuring it gave them plenty of time to prepare the cookies. When we got there I was told, oh, they are just going in the oven, so it should be about 5 minutes. NO. Try 30-40 minutes later of waiting. Gee, thanks. To top this all off, after waiting so long for something that should have been ready - they dumped all these large (warm) cookies on top of each other with NO wax paper in between! If you even attempted to dislodge one, it would crumble. Geeze, after all that and you end it with sloppy packaging? And it's not like they were all the same cookie type. Lastly, I'm not adverse to sugar, but when the flavor is overpowered by just sugar, it's no good. And we tasted no butter, which homemade cookies should be made with real butter and these had none that could be detected. HUGE disappointment and would never order these cookies again. We keep going back, hoping for better quality and service, but it's hit or miss.
