He was calm and reassuring as he walked me through the quoting process, and, if I'm honest, he sold me on using this company. When the day of the move came, I was sent three wonderful guys who instantly felt like they were friends. They made what could've been a terrifyingly stressful experience into a fun (yes, I said fun) time, including helping me figure out where to put my things in my new place. We just hired Greene to move to our new home across the state. The team was absolutely fantastic (Alex, Joe, George and Caleb). Some positives and some negatives but mostly unhappy and wouldn't recommend Greene Moving . We hired the movers mostly for our furniture as we were moving some stuff on our own. We had 4 movers and hoped to get everything in 1 truck but they weren't able to so we ended up with 2. 3 of the movers were great and personable. The other was not. I showed them what we were moving when they arrived. Since they couldn't fit it in one I had them pack the other as well. One of them seemed to be annoyed with that. They were quick, but that came with the cost. Though most were small concerns with our belongings, there were a lot of them. We moved almost all of our breakables on our own and after seeing our other items that they moved. I was glad we did. A rocking chair was ripped and a tie broken. There were some dings in our dining room table. Our front door and molding on another door at the house we were moving from both had a deep scratch in them. They broke a lamp. The driver drove over our lawn and made a mess of the grass. One of the workers broke a plastic bin we had some clothes in and lied to us about it. I had just wiped it down because it was dusty from being under a bed so I knew it was not broken. The mover brought it downstairs to show and tell us it was broken before he picked it up. They left one random box in the basement that we found when we went back to the house. We had 12+ boxes in our new basement that are labeled bonus room so we had to move them up two flights of stairs ourselves because they didn't put them where they were supposed to. We have a walk out so I think it was easy for them just to put everything in the basement, so that is what they did. My biggest concern was our beds. I have a young son so he is in a toddler bed. Greene required us to take it apart and rebuild it on our own. I really wish I did that for our other two beds because the bed we did is the only one put together correctly. After the move when they put the bed back together, I was making the bed and noticed the headboard wasn't attached. I went to look at it and a screw fell down. It was missing hardware so I couldn't fix it. I then looked at our other bed and it was missing hardware as well and the footboard was put on backwards. When I returned to the house we moved from I found some of the hardware on the floor of the room the bed was originally in. Not sure where the rest is, probably got left in the truck or lost. We took care of the movers. Had them all choose something at a local restaurant for lunch and also tipped the four of them after the move. Between that and the price of Greene for the move I expected to be taken care of as a paying customer, but I was not. We reached out to the company and only mentioned a few things we were concerned about. The lawn and the broken lamp. They sent someone out to fix the lawn and that person was professional and did a great job. As for the lamp we were asked to reach out to someone else to discuss. We had to reach out a few times as we didn't get a response. When we finally did she said she asked the movers and they all said they didn't break it and because we didn't actually see them break it that they weren't responsible for it. This is the most ridiculous thing. There were four men and only two of us. We didn't realize the two of us should have followed them around watching their every move. I don't know how we could even do that with only the two of us. The company pays $0.60/lb for damages. I don't think it would have even been more than $20. We don't even care about the money, it's about the principal. We're not surprised about it since they broke another item and lied about it on move day. We reached out through email to let them know of our disappointment and we never heard anything back. Hopefully we won't be moving anytime soon, but if we do, we will be using someone else. read more

This review is long overdue and for that I apologize to yelp readers and most importantly Greene Moving and Storage. My wife and I moved from Vernon to East Windsor in May 2017. Originally we were going to do the move ourselves but circumstances arose that would not only prevent that but would severely hamper our ability to get packed and ready for the move. Mitchell from Greene came out and gave a very reasonable estimate for the full service move. When it became apparent that we would not be able to pack ourselves he updated the quote with full service packing. The packing took 3 men about 5 hours. They were ultra professional and kind. They brought all the supplies and even made recommendations as to what to unpack first. This crew was retained for the actual move. Once again they were outstanding. They were efficient loading the truck and handled our heavy furniture and valuables carefully. They were very kind when we got to East Windsor and had to separate the "storage" items from the "apartment" items. Once again, I apologize for this review being so late, but these guys are the real deal. Moving companies are generally hit or miss, especially when you end up thinking you are talking to a real person at the company and they end up being a broker. Greene is one of the most professional operations from start to finish that I have come across. read more

We hired Greene Movers out of Manchester CT for our move in April 2009. We moved from a 2 bedroom apartment in the Hilliardville section of Manchester to a condo in South Manchester. They were right on time-8:15 am, 3 guys, one van-which they backed into our little space. They wrapped our drawers with saran so we did not have to unpack them. They moved our furniture like it was very light. They did not damage even one item--we were all very impressed. My husband served as the "director" and told them where to put everything-they followed all our directions. They also were very friendly. The move was done by 1:15 and the rate was $125 an hour. We did our shopping and this was a very reasonable rate-especially since the van was included. They put our bed together too--and its an Ikea bed so that was very convenient for me! This was the first time I hired movers, and I was very nervous about it--but everything turned out great. In years past my Dad has helped me move but this time he said he couldn't handle it--so Im glad I was able to depend on someone else. I will recommend Greene Movers to family and friends. read more

These guys were awesome. Very friendly and extremely efficient. They moved us from a 3rd floor apartment into a 2nd story of a house in about 2.5 hours. We had antique dressers, couches and beds. They were no nonsense, and very professional. Everything was protected and cared for. I got a quote from 2 Guys and a Truck and they told me it was going to be $450 more than Greene! We hired Greene Moving and Storage just for loading a trailer we rented. We moved from Manchester, CT to Alabama. Three men came. They finished early and left, never asking if we needed anything else done, like the men we hired to unload in Alabama did. We were still charged the minimum hours. The "lead" man was annoyed that I asked him to take the kitchen table off from the trailer since we needed it for the next few days. When we arrived in Alabama and opened the trailer, it was a mess. Furniture was all over the place. We found two holes in our leather chair. We had an antique table and a teakwood kitchen table ruined with liquid that was spilled onto it, obviously not packed right. We had two cases of books ruined by spilled liquid. The liquid was clearly marked and should have been placed on the floor. We supplied the loaders with many tie downs and loads of moving blankets to use. I had called Greene Moving and Storage multiple times with no return phone calls. They asked for pictures of the damage which I sent and still have not heard from them. The owner, Patrick, stated he would check with his insurance carrier and call back. He never did. The office manager, Ellen, said she would call, she never did. I would never hire this company again. This review is well over due, I hired Greene Movers to get a quote for moving an entire home to a smaller place. Mitchell was fantastic walked the entire home and discussed the cost. Which was very reasonable considering the move. My move was split Into 2 days, due to my late closing. Both days the loading and unloading, the team leader was great and took pictures of how every thing was assembled, to make it easier to reassemble. When I called Greene Moving and Storage to arrange for my move I spoke to Ellen, who was able to schedule my move even though I had a slightly restricted time frame for her. I also related to her my horrendous experience a year earlier with a moving company when I relocated from New York to Connecticut. She assured me that wouldn't happen with her company and she was absolutely right about that. The crew assigned (Jason, Sean, Kevin, and Troy) to my move was extremely professional, they kept me laughing when I felt a bit overwhelmed and tired from packing, and they treated my possessions with as much care as I would have. Also both houses had wood floors that didn't suffer a single scratch and no walls or door frames were nicked even with a large number of boxes moving in and out. Not only were my possessions in great shape, but so were both of the houses. These people are super professional with written estimates that are emailed to you the day they stop in for the quote. They explained the quote reheat it included and not included. I needed a specific budget so we negotiated to the price by moving more stuff by ourselves. This worked well for me since no surprises. We had the team that called themselves the "gorilla crew". I have now used Greene Moving & Storage twice and I couldn't possibly be more satisfied! The first time I used them was in-state and they moved my whole apartment into storage before noon. This last time they moved me from CT and my boyfriend from RI to a shared apartment all by 2pm. There is no way I could be that timely and efficient on my own. They were careful with our belongings, super friendly, and really made moving as delightful as a process as possible. Very reasonably priced - especially considering the time, hassle and energy they saved us. I have already recommended them to others, and wouldn't consider hiring anyone else (especially given some horror stories I have heard about moving companies). I was unimpressed with the work ethic. The movers themselves even hinted that I was working harder than them. It seemed that they slowed down the job so that they can stay close to their estimated job time, though the job could have finished an hour earlier. And it does not take 45 minutes to drive an empty truck from Manchester to Willington on a Saturday morning. Google maps estimates a 25 minute drive. I will conclude by saying that the moving job was very well done, but just at a very slow pace so that they can stay close to their quoted price. read more

I have moved 38 times and been all over the country. I've had big, nationally known movers as I've gone state to state. This time I was moving in state, from a 2 bedroom apartment into a house. I called (dealt with Patrick) to find out if there was an open date anywhere in the near future, and was scheduled for 4 or 5 days later, and conveniently on my one day off a week. The crew showed up on time, which I was surprised at only because of the 2 HUGE recent snow storms (including one just the day before). The 3 guys (I think Jeremy, John, and Jason?) were very nice and worked hard from the time they got there till it was finished. When we got to my new home they put down runners to walk on to keep the new place from getting covered with snow. They carried stuff down to the basement for me, and even took the stuff out of the trunk of my car for me!! (I was limping by that point). My husband and I had never hired movers before this, but as you get older you want a company to perform a job as well as you would do yourself. We hired Greene Moving and Storage for our move from Manchester to East Hartford. My husband said the truck and crew showed up exactly on time, worked quick and efficient loading the truck. I was waiting at our new home, which when the truck came all of the crew introduced themselves, but got straight to work unloading. Whatever we had not labeled or wrapped they had done before loading the truck. None of our things were damaged and the 3 man crew that was assigned Jason, Justin, and Jeffrey were polite answered all our questions and got the job done in very little time. My husband and I will most defiantly recommend this company to family and friends in the future. Very professional, and never hit a wall or left a mark in either home.
