After searching the internet and targeting the purchase of an Arius YDP-184 digital piano for my mom, I started to search the San Diego area for a store that had one in stock and on display so that she could try playing it. Very few places have any digital pianos on display, and if you find one, there is usually just one. However, I could tell from Greene Music's website that they had a showroom full of digital (and acoustic) pianos, so I gave them a phone call. I spoke with Ken, who said that they had a wide range of digital pianos on display and suggested that we come try the Yamaha Clavinova series as a step up from the Arius series. We made the drive and met Ken in person. He was very respectful and kind, and we did not feel any pressure at any point. He was clearly committed to helping us achieve our goal, letting my mom try a range of digital pianos. She ended up deciding on the Yamaha Clavinova CLP-825 in the rosewood finish. Ken helped us with the financing paperwork, and even though there were other customers he was helping at the same time, we felt well taken care of. A little less than 3 weeks later, the delivery people called to schedule a 3-hour delivery window. They called a little before the start of the delivery window to see if it would be ok for them to arrive early, and upon their arrival, the delivery and setup team was quick and efficient, and cleaned up after themselves. They took away all packaging material and set up the piano exactly where my mom wanted it. In summary, the experience with Greene Music was a perfect one: The salesman, Ken, was easygoing and yet appropriately enthusiastic about the product line, the product pricing was better than anything found elsewhere including online, the financing process was simple and quick, and the delivery was hassle-free and professional. Technicians' availability can range from weeks up to several months. And I only have being playing the instrument for a couple hours at most, during the days off (wiping every dust speck and treating it like a rare gem). Shopper! Avoid Yamaha (and Roland) when it comes to digital pianos, they will make you consider giving up on music. P.S.
