I even had someone else take a look before taking them to another consignment shop with high standards who was more than happy to take them. There were no rips or stains that any of us could find. I have consigned there several times and the last time one of the employees pretty much shouted. "Do you have at least 10 items???!!" Then she impatiently rattled off a list of everything they do not take even though I've consigned there several times and she knew it .She seemed really impatient and ticked off that I would have even been so rude as to bring clothes in to be consigned, Even though I made an appointment. The tracking of the items is a joke. And you are the one who has to stay on top of everything, Even though you obviously don't work there and have no access to what's going on. They should have at least an email system reminding me that your consignment time is over, but they are not accommodating at all. They just take your clothes and do what they want with them. And you're pretty much held responsible for any problems. It always smells bad. They could at least open the door and let in fresh air. read more

Given the location, there is a chance they could be real . Prices were decent and although I didn't walk away with anything , if lived in the area would probably think of selling items for consignment. read more

My friend and I wandered into Greene Street when we were shopping in Chestnut Hill a few weeks ago. It's a resale/consignment shop with some nice items if you have the time to wander around and look/browse. I bought a linen jumper that I love but my friend didn't find anything. There is some good value here if you browse well! Service was okay (the checkout line was pretty long and slow), but the store was well organized and clean. Overall, a good option for looking for some good clothes if you're in the area. read more

There is really no service, except for check out. I used to love this location, but the quality of clothing has dropped recently. What they had in my size looked pretty worn, and even worse in try on room. Prices were extremely high for used clothing, Although the new with tag stuff was reasonably priced. As another reviewer noted, they "lost" one of my items - a very cool Lacoste sweatshirt. I was also told that this was my problem and I signed away my ability to recover any item that they "misplace." My only option is to keep coming back to the store and dig through every item in the store to find my property. This is extremely sketchy because they can still sell that item and not reimburse me. I wonder how many other people consign with them only to find that they "misplace" one of their designer items. This was my first, and last, time consigning with them. read more

Incredibly disappointing. I moved here a few years ago from San Francisco, and consign clothes each season. Greene Street has benefited significantly from this relationship. Unfortunately and uniquely to this store, some of my cutest and most expensive items regularly go "missing" with each pick up, despite the fact that they are security tagged. I've written it off several times, but have reached the limit with the latest missing designer skirt - the manager Sade acknowledged that she remembered the skirt, remembered that an employee wanted it, tried it on and wanted to purchase it. But it somehow "disappeared" and despite our scouring the store together, it's gone. She said she would text the employee and also assured me that Greene Street would compensate me. They did not and instead simply said that they are not responsible. Greene Street security tags its clothes, but clearly has no protocol to address internal slippage. I will never consign there again. UPDATE - the company's CEO corresponded with me and, while she apologized, expressed dismay that I had not given Greene Street the chance to remedy the situation before leaving this review. She also advised that all corporate decisions are made by her personally. When I pointed out that I HAD already tried to get help and in response received an email stating that my request had been "elevated to the corporate level" and rejected, she had no response, except to say that I hadn't used the "concierge service" for pick up - ?? When I shared that an earlier missing item that I submitted a claim for never even received a response, she also did not respond, except to say that her head customer service person was " on vacation." She did want to confirm, however, that "only two items" had gone missing. These two items retailed for a total of over $400. Is there a threshold for the number of missing items that are considered acceptable to lose? I had also already communicated to her that I had waived missing items from previous experiences as a cost of business and signed acceptance receipts. I stopped doing that this summer. My experience has gone from bad to worse and while Greene Street has collected between $1,000 - $1,500 from our consignment relationship, I will never use this company again. read more

I highly recommend the Chestnut Hill Green Street location as it is my local go to to bringing in my high quality consignment items, including designer, shoes, bags, and my Coats. When I say they are organized, that is an understatement. Not only is the appointment process methodical, but the staff is efficient and quick to get you in and out, they have a wonderful pick up process for items that they decline, and as long as you're able to follow the instructions on the entire process, it is truly a very beneficial Place for selling your items. For the consumer and buyers in the store? Awesome place to go. They have high end. Brand names, and amazing prices with great sales and an enormous inventory to choose from. Everything is extremely organized and easily labeled to find in the store in fact, they even have an entire wall of free people, Lily and Anthropologie that is all together. AWFUL CONSIGNMENT. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!!! I consigned with them in May and had questions about my payment. It took me OVER A MONTH to finally get an answer from Dayna in accounting and she still hadn't answered my question. I emailed her 4 times and STILL nothing. I had to email the PRESIDENT of the company, Lynne who finally got back to me. And still Dayna was dismissive and unpleasant. Their customer service is substandard and they are not professional. Do not support this business! They never paid me for the clothes I gave them (which included name brands like Theory) and I'm sure sold them and kept the profit. read more

This location has an outdated / low quality selection with insane prices. Browsing their store always feels like I'm looking at a bunch of hand-me-downs that are priced at around $25-$35 dollars each. They even had a Shein dress listed for $26.95 in store - I searched the dress by image on the Shein website and found that it sells for $12. It seems like they accept anything and everything here. With these prices - I have MUCH better luck at Goodwill and Salvation Army. Stay away from this location - it's a total time waster (unless you'd like to spend close to $100 on three ultra-worn, out of style, name brand pieces). read more

I'm a big fan of this store. I don't bring clothes in so I can't speak to the complaints of some of the other reviewers but I feel like I've hit the jackpot with the number of new and nearly new clothes I've found. This is really not a thrift store in that the clothes are current, clean, barely if at all worn and beautifully displayed. Don't know why you'd pay retail with a store like this. Other locations in Manayunk and Lambertville. All trendy and worth a visit. read more

This branch just opened 2 weeks ago so the inventory isn't that fantastic yet, but I would give them some time and check back in a few weeks. Thus far, 2 of the handbags appeared to have been transferred from the Bryn Mawr location (pink Dooney and black Gucci) but that's understandable because they have the same owners. The store itself is on the small side, but is well-organized and right in the heart of Chestnut Hill on Germantown Ave. It's also conveniently located next to A Taste of Philly and across the street from Starbucks. Staff is friendly and it was pretty busy today. 3 stars so far but will update in a few weeks after they have had time to acquire more goods. So far, it looks like it has good potential. The only downside is parking but if you get there early in the morning on weekends, you should be able to find available meters. read more

This is one of the best consignment stores I have found. I got a few designer items for great prices. I only like consignment stores when they are picky with what they accept, otherwise it is too hard to find the good stuff. The store is laid out well and looks more like a small boutique than a thrift store. I have been to the manyunk location which is actually larger, but this location has way better quality of items. I told the girl working this and she said the bryn mawr one would also probably be more my style. So I am looking forward to visiting that location as well. I can not comment on consigning with them because I have yet to do this. read more

Everything at this GSC is awesome. All very fresh and exciting, barely worn inventory. I counted at least 6 Lily Pulitzer pieces (dresses and skirts) in varying sizes as well as other brands I won't mention as to drum up too much interest in this location b/c I want them for myself! My partner and i had been spending a lot of money for high end designers i.e. Versace, Ralph Lauren etc. Only to get hair color and hair bleach on my expensive wardrobe . ( hairdresser here!!!) I am a huge fan of shopping at consignment places. Until i pondered in Greene Street in Chestnut Hill and Bryn Mawr locations. Not only did i find my favorite designers but, as well i didn't pay the full retail value like dept. Stores. Lol! I just did my first consignment, but that's not why I dig this Shop to the Full. Im there so much, they should hire me part time. Great deals!! Hopefully the consignment goes well. I think the only concern I have would be having to come and get you clothes off the rack at the end of the contract. Its like, if you forget....you're outta luck. Gave them a lot of things to sell. When I went to pick up the few articles which had not sold they couldn't find a jacket. I asked them what they were going to do for me, and they said basically tough luck. They said read your contract, as it says they are not responsible for anything lost or stolen. If an employee wants something all they need to do is take it or sell it to someone and pocket the cash. When I give them my things to sell I expect them to be responsible, especially getting 60% of the sale. Thus is a poor policy which gives them 0 responsibility. At 60% fee they should be responsible! Since I'm supporting local businesses, I visited this store yesterday and although it is on the small side, I got some great finds for great prices. The store is smaller than its Manayunk counterpart but chock full of goodies. Many of the items I bought look new/almost new and I saw some items with original tags still on. The staff was pretty friendly. They could use more seating for general/trying on shoe purposes but they have dressing rooms, which is a plus. All sales are final so be sure when you buy. This is a nice spot to check out if you're in Chestnut Hill. read more

When I went in to pick up the other items they could only find 2 and said the others must be lost or stolen! They informed me that in the contract I signed that it states items might be lost or stolen and they will not be responsible for the value of these items. That is crazy to me that people think this is okay! Donate your items to a thrift store when the money goes to people who need it. read more

I am new to consignment and was interested to bring some nice items into the shop. The staff were really nice but stay away from the Manager- she was not friendly at all. She was not even interested in taking 2 seconds to explain the consignment process to me and help me understand the rules of the road. Flat out was rude. didn't even look me in the eye when she spoke at me and said "no!". I guess this is what you get in chestnut hill for consignment- entitlement and attitude. As a seller I am giving Green Street one star. They tell consigners to pick up their unsold items by a certain date, which is 2-3 months after you drop them off (reasonable) but you receive NO email or phone reminder when the date comes! I walked in ONE DAY after my claim date because I was out of town the previous day and was told that my unsold items were no longer in the store to be picked up. On top of that, my check for sold items has still not been mailed to me and it has been over three months since I consigned. This exact situation happened the last time I dropped off items. I have learned my lesson. NEVER selling here. read more

I have been a customer here for a few years and I love it. They always have wondeful clothes and accessories at ridiculous prices. The selection is always changing for the better every week. The employees are top notch and always show attention when it is needed. Since the have started selling kids clothes again(Yay) I have more reasons to love this store. This is my second most favorite place to buy clothes in Chestnut Hill (Mango is number one). It's a good place to stop in every few days because the merchandise does turn over fast, and I often find something I like. The prices are reasonable. I tried consigning once but they are very picky (that's a good thing) and rejected most of my carefully selected offerings. You have to have at least ten items accepted to consign, so I failed the test but I'm still happy to buy for them. read more

I always find something to buy so five stars there but about 1 star as someone who has put items on consignment. Of about 60 items over half sold but the two most expensive items "walked" and I was left with nothing for them. I coudldhave sold those two items on ebay for the amount I ended up making on the rest so it was a total waste. During a rainy Saturday, I purchased a brand new umbrella from this store... once opened there was a hole in the umbrella so I promptly brought it back. The sales clerk told me that all sales were final and that I could pick another umbrella... the remaining 2 were also ripped. While I was waiting for her to attempt a different resolution to this rather then stealing aprox $15 from me, she answered a call and told another sales rep that this wasn't important. Customer service at its finest. She spoke with her general manager, Kevin, who also said all sales final. Once I was allowed to speak to Kevin and told him the only option I would accept was a full refund after very terse and lengthy conversation this was finally granted. Being a customer who frequently consigns and shops at this store, I find this a disgrace and will never return. My husband was there and has also shops for me at this store investing a good deal of money of purses and will also never return... take home message: inspect everything carefully! read more

I've used Green Street's Manayunk location in the past when I was but a poor college student in need of quick funds and always had a pleasant experience. I figured I'd try the Germantown location today to sell back some designer dresses (one of which was only worn once). I was barely greeted by the two women in the back who upon explaining their new policy were very rude and also insinuated that I had lied about using the Manayunk store. I work in the customer service industry and if I were to treat a client the way I was treated today I'd be fired on the spot. I've found some amazing pieces at Greene Street! The only thing that holds me back from a 5-star rating is the fact that they have a no-return policy even if the item is defective (ie the zipper breaks after the first wear, which has happened to me twice! I really think a store credit should be given in odd exceptions like these especially for loyal return-customers!). I've recently lost a great deal of weight and simply cannot afford to constantly replenish my wardrobe with the high-end clothing I like to wear shopping retail. Buying at consignment allows me the opportunity to always have a few new pieces that fit well--and I can always consign them back when they no longer fit! Greene Street has an amazing selection and the sales associates usually are very helpful with helping me with finding what I need or zipping a dress, or telling me that, no, my ass does not look big in that dress... ;) read more

I've brought clothes in several times and am always happy with the little check I receive after the contract period. I've also bought several beautiful blouses and a nice pair of Ann Taylor shoes for $16, never worn. Yes, you have to pick up the rejected items after they log them in and also pick up the ones that don't sell. The staff is very friendly and do not treat you like it's a bother to help you. You need to check out this store and see for yourself, the prices are realy good. It's a great ilittle store n my opinion. read more

Be VERY VERY careful before consigning ANYTHING to this store. The burden is completely on YOU to follow up, to track down payment, if any, to remember to fetch rejected items, to know which items sold and which you need to remember to get on EXACTLY which date. They have crafted a contract which is most assuredly NOT in favor of the consigner but most definitively in favor of the shop. I consigned items in early December, and have yet to see a penny. The contract ended well over three weeks ago. The store is utterly unapologetic. Of course, this may be their right to have such policies. without question, I will not be using their service again, because of their attitude and unhelpful outlook: "You should have read the contract you signed" True enough....but most assuredly not customer friendly.....and not only have I not seen a penny, but THEY now own the items I did not know I was to pick up. My advice: donate your clothing to a group, like St Vincent DePaul or American Friends Service that actually helps people. It might be a better use of your time and you will end up feeling that you have been useful,instead of feeling mis-used. read more
